Always wondered about that... Epic scene!!
Indeed. Nolan wanted it to happen, and he wanted it to happen for real. Fortunately, nathan Crowley and Chris Corbould - the production designer and special effects co-ordinator - are two of the best in the business at what they do, so they constructed the biggest nitrogen propellant canister ever used for a film (which is basically an enormous metal piston fired out of a cannon by pressurised nitrogen), and placed it in the back of the semi-trailer. The stunt was complicated by the fact that the street actually had dozens of bank vaults underneath it, which meant that there were only two points on the entire street where the canister could be fired. Anywhere else, and the force of the canister firing would have blown a hole in the street; that's how much force was exerted. The piston that was fired out of the canister was digitally removed in post-production, though the trail of nitrogen vapour was left in. They got it in one take.

For those that don't like the ken block vids because of what ever reason. Are there better vids on YouTube of a similar nature? Or are you just feeling that you underachieved in life and are hating on KB because he pretty much has the dream job? He gets payed to do his hobby. Wouldn't we all want that??
What is it with people always resorting to that, "Omg, why you hatin'?" excuse when someone doesn't like something.

Is no one entitled to their own valid opinion ('cause it's not like anyone here went, "LOL, seen better")....

Im well aware people are entitled to their own opinion even if it is wrong ; ) but genuinely if there is better vid of this nature out there post a link, I love this kind of thing and I want to see more!

Well, it would be good if the next video contained multiple gymkhana cars. The problem is that the guys who might be the best candidates - Tanner Foust, Brian Deegan, etc. - are sponsored by Rockstar.

Not exactly "professional" though.

There doesn't have to be a better video of anything. This could be Block's best work, but others may still think 1 & 2 were better for other reasons.

I think #2 is probably still my favorite alone because the idea was still original & fresh.

It was definitely entertaining but to me it felt like more style than substance. Less focus on the driving and more on the random stunts. Seems like that's the pattern, the first one was simply a car and course, the second one got a bit flashy with things like paint balls, fluorescent lights and water balloons, third one went back to basics and now even more flash and special effects. The third one was my favorite but at the end of the day they're all still fun to watch.

Oh and Kishkuman I'll see your Block Gymkhana and raise you a semi truck Gymkhana. :p

If you like these videos then here's some that I've favorited on YouTube over the years. Not Gymkhana but still some nice drifting in my opinion.

Vaugh Gittin Jr drifting in Saudi Arabia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbQnSVY6sE4

Yves Faber tossing around a V8 Mustang in a hillclimb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNM1flBStLA

Rhys Millen in his Genesis Coupe going up the Serra Do Rio Do Rastro in Brazil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brWZb4TYp24

Tanner Foust drifting on Mulholland Highway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Kaj0QyAUoo

A driver called Georgiy Stepanyan togue drifting in the Ukraine Mountains: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8YlLUyr2jg

slims thank you so much for posting those videos... I've seen most of them with the exception Vaugh's video as well as Georgiy's video. 👍

These are cracking vids! Not seen a couple of these. I love them, and ken block just adds more into the mix, I particularly like the second vid you posted I love the drifting stuff! Have you seen any of the getaway in Stockholm series'? The older ones are a little dated now but here's a clip from one of my favourites. If it's well known on these boards then I apologise but if not, enjoy...

I liked the one at L'autodrome the best, but this one was entertaining. I thought it was pretty funny, the ending was so ridiculous and over the top, and was pretty funny tongue in cheek humour.

Love Ken's videos but I feel like brutal murder whenever I see a Block shirt or a Monster logo.

What was once original and unique has now become overdone, bloated and uninspired. That minute and a half introduction is stupid as well. As was already noted, this video reeks of style over substance. 👎
