You know that song "Tenth Avenue Freezeout"...I always thought that it was "TW Tweezers"

I sorta like his songs, but I'm not one for the story telling songs.

slip: He's back with the E-Street Band...this is their first CD since Born in the USA (so...18 years?) as a 'unit' once again.

Dudebusta:

neon_duke: Er...Born in the USA is about anti-USA rebellion. Clearly, you don't understand this; neither did Ron Reagan when he commandiered the song (without Bruce's permission) for his election campaign. The album "Born in the USA" has some great songs on them, writing songs about life wouldn't be what I call selling out. "Born to Run" - the CD - and the song "Born to Run" along with "Thunder Road" are still two of the best rock songs ever, no question.

MazKid: I hate that Tenth-Ave. Freeze out! It was almost like disco.

Heh. "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" is the only Spruce song I really like. Go figure!

M5: I'm well aware of the meaning of the lyrics to "Born In The USA". You also need to consider that the early 80s were a time of understanding and reconciliation in the post-Viet Nam era. Vets were suddenly no longer considered baby-killing barbarians. They were finally being understood as people who did their duty as they saw it. The building of The Wall, and a number of movies such as Born On The Fourth Of July highlighted this very topic. Therefore it was a perfectly calculated move on Spruce's part. He knew that half the audience would just buy the album on the "God bless America" factor, and the other half would buy it because supposedly-deep reinterpretations of the Viet Nam/post-60s era were all the rage at the time.

Besides, no amount of alleged "hidden" irony in "Born In The USA" (which is about as subtle as a brick) can make up for a song like "Dancing In The Dark".

You like Tenth-Avenue Freeze Out? Ha! Just kidding. :D

When you call the release of 'Born in the USA' a perfectly calculated move, what you don't realise is that it's Bruce's reaction to the times. Simply because Bruce reacted when he did does not mean that he did it only to make money; Bruce did have emotional ties to many of those songs. It's still the second-best CD I ever bought (after, of course, Mellencamp's 1978-1988 greatest hits :))

I agree with you on "Dancing in the Dark." Plainly, it sucked.

How can you not like Streets of Philadelphia, at least!? :D

I don't like him, but it's better than having Ashanti or Fat Joe, or Ja Rule, or some other **** at the number one spot.

Ditto.

10th Avenue Freezeout always sounded like a circus song or an elevator song with singing...

Ahh well...

Spruce Bringsteen?

Yeah really who is he? I've never heard of him, but then again I don't really think I'd like his music. he sings like old music or something doesn't he?

Yes, blackest Asian in Maryland - he sings 'old music.' His new CD is FULL of old music.

"Think before you speak." Please.

We call this TWO straight weeks at number one, ahead of Nelly and Linkin Park and all the other losers. :D

wee, old fart music rules!

goddamn, go out and listen to some music, leave the 70's behind you...

There is no good new music (except for maybe four or five singers). In any case, it doesn't compare to rock and roll.

Speaking of which, is a record certified platinum when it sells 1,000,000 or is it 10,000,000?

i think it's 1 million, but i'm not sure.

i have to agree. new music sucks. it's either gay ass rap, or plain BS boys band...

Yeah, I have to go and check and see if it's one million or ten million; I thought it was one million also but I'm not sure.

Yep - rap and manufactured bands like the Backstreet Boys are in it for one reason: money. Losers.

Yep, here it is:

500,000 = Gold (Springsteen already achieved...)
1,000,000 = Platinum (Springsteen will achieve by the end of August)
10,000,000 = Diamond (Will be achieved, give it some time) :D

Punkrock is GAY, dont be mad cuz all those pussys punks only talk about suicide

1mic: Letterman appeals to a more grown-up audience (i.e. he doesn't talk about penises for the whole show) than Leno and Conan, so I can understand why you don't like him.

i didnt know they talked about penises? maybe u watch the show too much, besides lettermans top 10 isnt even funny it almost has the same jokes as nickelodeon's show "all that"... which is pretty PATHETIC

yeah, right...

"if you wanna go and ride on me, just come and we'll put it on TV" or some stupid thing like that from that gay ass Nelly or whatever his name is.

IMO, rap artists are a lot more "gay" than every other artists out there... go take a sit in the corner, mr. Sellout

PR, who just came back from the Warped Tour, and feels like kicking some ass.

mr. sellout just likes Rap, gangsta Rap not "hip-hop", rather then the depressing "im different", ill kill all of you: kind of music, besides rock sounds like its for sissys who get beat up at skool then cry home and get angry and play games like DOOM....

RAP: Retarded Asshole Power? get a clue...

are you the "blackest caucasian" in America?

if there's one sort of music for sissies, it's anything that sounds like rap... just look at the ****in' lyrics! it's so ****in stupid it's not even funny! (well, in fact it's real funny...)

im not even white goon, besides your talking about hip-hop not RAP, gangsta rap as if u didnt know i was raised in the "ghetto" maybe thats why i listen to it, then i moved up somewhat like BrothaLynch (another Gangsta rap fan)

haha punk-rock is for sissys, in fact ODD BALL crew is what i call 'em
