COD on the PS3 is so unsecure or has been compared to the Xbox, hence why I don't play COD on the PS3.

Personal note. I have no need for proper grammer or punctuation. I am not a English major, nor do i want to be or pretend to be. I make over $65k a year without having to touch a cpu, without typing or writing. I think maybey if people spent as much effort and time into typing smart remarks and saving and reposting meme's: and channel that into typing a resume you could make some serious money and have better things to do with your life then trolling the internet. Just saying

Im not going to beat a dead horse on this. i have seen people be hacked and if the Op was weary of this and was asking for some insight as to what he could do use some of that time and effort you post meme's with and smart remarks with and post some links or some info on where he can seek help or tips on how to help prevent this. Anything you post outside of those two thing is pointless, unless your posting your how hacking has effected you

Im going to leave this be. I realize i am not exactly dealing with the most mature people. So I said what im going to say already. Type all the lame meme's and gifs you want. Im not going to keep arguing.

I dont see what the problem is we are discussing if you can be hacked we disagree with you nothing you have said has convinced us otherwise.

Seems like a "what I say is right, and I won't hear anything said against it" thread.

Not really just havent seen anything that would show your account can be hacked if something turns up to show thats wrong ill retract.

I'm going into the field of computer security once I finish high school and get a degree from college. Am I worried about hackers? No. The ones that irk me are the ones that break into confidential files - I'm 100% fine with the people who mod things, or the ones who do it just to piss others off.

And, like previously stated... the only way to 'hack' a PS3 is to get your password for your PSN account. My e-mail is different from my PSN and every other password I need to use, whatever it is for.

Yep same here. But i have been out of high school for almost 3 years. I will be going to ITT TECH for Network Systems Administration (associates degree) and then for information systems and Cyber Security (for bachelor's degree)

👍 I took Automotive Technology and have started Welding. Even though I've been out of school since '03(and was lazy for a while:banghead:) I give a BIGG 👍 to anyone trying to further their education!

Now it's turning into a "who's more qualified to say if you should be worrying about hackers" thread. And I think the answers have already been clarified - the answer is No, and reasons given by more than one person.

If the OP is happy, I think this thread is done.

The topic is still just. Nothing wrong with adding expertise to the topic.

No actually I was giving him a idea maybe to look into when he starts college.

Let me add my 2 cents. I have a 15 year background working in the computer tech field. From computer repair to networking and everything in between. My ex-wife also owns a local ISP here in the area. With my vast knowledge that I have aquired over the years, I can tell you that if its live on the internet, anything can be hacked. It is more a question of how likely it is to be hacked. There is no such thing as being 100% secure if its on the internet. So, don't fool yourself thinking you are comepletely safe from hackers on the internet.

Ok how likely do you think it is to be hacked on a console?

They dont have to hack your console. And dont think PSN is so secure its untouchable because its not and it has been hacked. Thats why I refuse to use my credit card on the psn store and the internet in general.

I meant someone on another console using said consol to hack someone with their own consol.

I do know psn was hacked. Our discussion was about how likely you are to be hacked by someone threatening you in a lobby.

slim to none, the idea of someone taking over your personal account is virtually impossible, someone may hack the PSN and uncover database information from thousands of random users and by chance use your info, but trying to pinpoint a specific user and retrieve their info is not going to happen.

This is what we were talking about if someone says they will hack your account in a lobby is more than likely full of it.

I myself is a hacker and do not be afraid i use hacking for good i get my friend's account back and those people are always mis called they are not to be called as hackers because what they do is not any form of hacking they "guess" the password. Real hacking is.... Making your own programs that get the session details of any admin/owner of account studying it and changing your session id to theirs now that's just one simple way that is known and patched in some websites there's thoundsands of ways to hack but do not be afraid because this people are merely password guessers.

If that is what you are specifically talking about, console to console, then yes, it is very unlikely. I was more referring to the people thinking that the internet is a safe place and not to be worried about hackers, which is a very wrong attitude to have.

I encountered someone today in a lobby who said he was going to hack me (im still waiting).

Todays encounter further cements my belief that most if not all are full of it.

If someone says they are going to hack you, what makes everyone think that they are going to use their PS3?

Maybe they have a laptop/desktop next to them. Is it possible then? Could someone hack someone else's account using a program on a laptop/desktop computer?

This question is mostly for cargo rat, as he has a background in this stuff.

Can I have a leymans answer please, I'm a complete noob in these matters.

I wonder how many victims of so called psn hackers or password guessers as would be a more fitting name have dumb passwords like 12345......

Can passwords be that easy? I thought PSN made it harder than that. I can't remember because it's been ages since I had to create one.
