Half box turns on Complex Loop

Yesterday I was taking a break from editing my video and I decided to take my 240ish hp S14 out for a spin on the complex loop. I was doing ok until I met the box turns, these (among other things) give me quite the pain, and I can never seem to even get close to clearing one. I can clear the corners one at a time, but when I try to take the half box as a whole (starting from one corner to the next) I can get about 3/4ths of the way there before I either oversteer or run out of momentum. Any pointers?

use something small.... 180sx or 86... u def. don't want alot of power... u want the front wheels to just lips the corner of each turn...

Sims are the best, However, I still use a lot of different HP and tire combinations from time to time. ;)

The car doesn't matter. I can tear up Cote d' Azur no problem with a Chaser WITH plenty of chokui dori, even in the narrow areas before the hairpin.

Those corners are different distances apart. In other words, the distance between the first and second is less than between the second and third corners. So as you're coming at the corners, the left/right stretches are shorter than the forward/backward stretches. I use 2nd gear for the left/right and shift up to 3rd for the longer stretches (shift up shortly after the apex), but back off early if you go to 3rd because it will really launch you sideways, and get back into 2nd before you start giving it throttle again unless you have good throttle control. I love doing those corners in my 180SX, probably my favorite corners on all of Complex String!

I just went through Complex String with the CL600 and I didn't have any problems going through the box turns :D

The key thing is with those box turns from my experience is to keep the engine revving high so that the rear end can lose enough traction to have the car sideways yet have enough power to push the car forward. Mainly the settings in this case is the issue, or just your style. Once you know how you can handle the corners, then you have mastered the basics of attacking the corners. Until then, just practice ;)

I laugh at all these in-depth explinations of how to drift these turns. You make it sound like there's a special technique JUST for these turns. Give me a break. Just drift the damn thing!

There has to be some know-how's before jumping into anything ;)

I love those box turns, regardless of the car I'm in. Sometimes I'll 'bite' the dirt on the outside to help keep it sideways though.

Here's a short little vid I made, to show how it's done. I bit the corner a little, but you get the idea. This took me 5 minutes to do, so it can't be that hard IMO.

CS box turns

;)
