I have been noticing that over the past couple days my hard drive have been slowly filling up and over nothing. In 10 mins it went from 32.1 free space to 31.9 for no reason. Where is all my space going?

Can be one of these things:
Windows our other O.S.;
Virus;
Spyware;
You copied our downloaded something to the computer.

I dont know what it could be All I have on it is Itunes and I have been constantly running antivirus and spyware blocker stuff. This is really bugging me.

Have you tried clearing your Internet explorer cache, etc? Or emptying your recycle bin?

Windows does slowly eat up more space as time progresses, its a well know fact, but nothing as drastic as 200 megs in 10 minutes ...

I did those and it still at about 100 megs per 10 mins. If it helps I am not really doing anything on the computer yet I just got it 3 days ago. Its also a vista.

The following stuff can take up space very quickly:

*Restore Points - Can eat up Gigabytes of space
*Temp files from surfing the internet as well as General Temp files.

However, you must be doing other stuff on your PC, which must be eating up the space.

The only thing i have done is use itunes (no downloading just to stream music) and surf the web, not much at that matter and no dirty stuff either. I guess resore points could be it?

Haven't there been issues with certain program's system logs creating huge files rapidly?

I dont know but i just went to the "disk cleanup" thing and cleaned out like 5 restore points and some other things and im back up to 43 something gigs. I guess I am going to need to clean up alot.

If you are running vista then its most likely system restore points because vista makes them like crazy! In one week it can fill a whole hard drive because everytime it does a backup it literally doubles the used space on your HDD.

Just go into disk cleanup, other options, and clear all but the last restore point and it should be sorted, I got 54GB back that way when I realised!

System Restore will only take up to a certain maximum amount of space, I think about 300 MB. Once that max is reached, it removes older restore points to make room for newer ones. I don't think there's an adjustment for how much space it uses, but you can turn the feature off completely if you like.

Restore points are created every day, according to the help screen, and before "important" events like a driver installation.

There ARE adjustments available for IE history, how much space to cache, things like that.

If you have any gadgets open in the Sidebar, even if it's minimzed, then you ARE using the computer, and it's doing stuff, perhaps browsing for you.
