Has anyone actually bought credits?

How many credits did you buy?

Like I said, I don't consider me buying credits so my granddaughter can enjoy the cars that she wants to drive in the game a waste or stupid. The cost of watching her enjoy the game and have fun is priceless. Also, as I've also stated, I did not have the time or ambition to grind for a bunch of cash for her. I really don't see what the issue is here if someone choses to buy credits or not, its not your money.
See, things look different at different point of views. I know this, and you know this. We're on good terms right now.

I would say not even 1 percent of the community has used micro-transactions for what you used them for. I would also think that most voters for this poll are people who have grind time and do not have grand children. I do not like the whole idea of buying money and I would never do it. There is definitely no issue for you using these for your own personal use.

I secretly think the grinders are upset because you are supporting a company that has not yet put 1 of the 4 major features in the game yet. (Oops, that is not secret now..:scared:)

Please, don't be offended for buying credits. Keep on keeping on sir. 👍

I'm no fool and don't appreciate being called such just because I chose to do something in the game that you don't agree with. If you must know, the credits that I bought were for my granddaughters' account so that she could get the cars that she wanted. I did not have time, nor was I really thinking about it, to level up her account and grind for a bunch of cash for her. It was just quicker to buy the credits and be done with it. So, fool, hardly. I'm just someone who loves his granddaughter and enjoys watching her have fun with the game and I don't mind spending a little cash for her to do so.
You're an exception, though, you did that out of kindness for someone else.

But I'd still say it's a poor decision for someone of any wealth to buy this for themselves, not because I think you're paying your way to victory, or even that it's quite easy to get credits. It's just such terrible value :yuck:. Before prices were announced I thought that anything above 5 pounds for 7 million credits would be daft. Oh boy was I in for a surprise :yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:

Spend a big amount of real money for in-game credits?...HAHAHAHAHA

It's all a matter of time. Early on in the game, outside of the VGT money glitch, credits weren't so easy to come by. I don't even know what was available for grinding in the first few days of the game but if it was say $1million/hr or pay $20 for $7million, most people can earn a lot more than $20 in 7 hours and so the trade off of time vs. money could easily make a lot of sense to gamers with little time for or interest in grinding.

I understand and applaud what Cargo did--I have grandchildren, also.

I completely understand JohnnyPenso's point as well. I used to bill hourly for my time, and taking free time for myself was very expensive in terms of opportunity costs.

But I don't care how much money you have, there's always a better way to spend $100 on yourself than 7,000,000 in-game credits (gifts for grandchildren or others excepted.) If I were in a position where I needed to buy credits for myself, I just wouldn't play the game. That, or I'd sneak out of bed at night and grind.

Why thank you, that's very kind and understanding  of you to see my side of things, greatly appreciate it. 👍 And yea, I never did the money glitch myself but I did grind my way all the way to the 50 mill credit limit. Like others, I couldn't see buying credits for myself when I could play the game and get them myself. But as I said, my grand daughter was a different situation as I've explained before.

My granddaughter started driving GT6 when she was 4--and she LOVES using the wheel and pedals. Cutest thing ever!

Yes, it sure is. 👍 I have more fun watching her enjoy herself than I do actually playing the game. :)

I did the Red Bull X Challenge with the 5 day login bonus to earned credits. I earned more credits than I knew what to do with. Credits are rather easy to come by in Gran Turismo games if you know how to get them.

Micro-transactions, I did spend $50 on in game credits to buy some nice cars before I new there was a VGT money glitch. I do not have a problem with in game credits for GT6, but the credits are there if you want something now rather than grinding if you can afford spending real money.

I am not spending real money ... because of pride, or something like that... but for the honor, to say i did it all by myself...

I didnt do the glitch... actually, I missed out on the glitch... i would have done it if back then i had time... and i still dont, so this is really not helpingy my case.

Being a young dad, i got practically no time to even virtually drive... cant compete with the teens and the young retirees out there...

I am already in trouble with my better half for spending too much time on GT Planet... bless my girls'

Despite all that, i am not planning on buying credits... i will slowly but surely beat this game, even if its gonna take me my whole life... i am already planning on playing GT6 during my retirement... LOL

My post might seem sacartic to some, but i am dead serious...

You guys are neglecting the fact that these micro transactions are keeping the DLC free so far.

PD will get our collective money one way out another, at least now you don't have to pay for a new piece of content

Aside from the RedBull ring. Everything that has dropped DLC wise has pretty much been promised on the back of the box. So we have already paid for it. And we are still waiting for more.

Microtransactions in any full priced games are the cancer of the industry.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

We'd have seen them in the original consoles way back when if the internet and online transactions existed the way it does now.

A game company is a business like any other, and their sole goal is to take in as much profit as they can so they can expand their company and improve down the line.

You aren't forced to buy credits and you lose literally nothing of the GT6 experience by not buying credits. I had actually forgot about buying credits until this thread came along. They made it so those who want to buy them can, and the rest of us are unaffected

Even though I had the game a day before official release, I never bought any credits and I have never glitches. I didn't buy any credits because I don't want to pay extra money on a game if I don't have to. I never used the glitch because I think that glitching is for noobs who can't earn money themself. Without glitching I was able to gain over 220 cars, of which over 95% is completely upgraded.

Since I am retired, I may have more time to spend in my racing rigg than others here on GTP.
But even if that were not the case, I would not spend real money to buy credits. Nor would I do any glitch...

I own every car in the game, most of them fully equipped/tuned/altered and my credits are up to max (50.000.000)

I did not do any "grinding" either.
What I did do: trying to race all my cars in the Nürburg 24' race (once or several times) and keep track of the best laptimes in an Exel file. Keeps me going for a while. Can't check now since I am still on vacation, but I guess the car count is at some 430 right now.
These races may not give the biggest payout, but +600.000 at full bonus is pretty nice.

May have to give it a pause to swing around Zahara a few times, but I'm pretty sure the Ring will see me back very soon :)

As for @Bhowe83 post #73
You do realize that whe still did not get all promised content ?
I don't see why any of the DLC would not have been free ?
I really don't believe micro transactions played a role in this.

Edit: corrected typo...

I just want to give people examples of the bad micro transactions. The fact that GT6 looks like a hufflepuff compared to these:
Ashpat 8

The first three contains two cars. And you cant buy them with credits. (point at the end)

The last pack seems huge, except when it come to this:

Holy **** wat. Thats not including the upgrades.

Then theres Angry Birds Go, a game for kids, supposedly.
Screenshot_2014-09-23-15-06-01.jpg

Thats each cart from each class. Yes its the most expensive one but the second isnt far off by just 200 credits, the third with the same gap, and so on.

You know how much a gem cost?
Screenshot_2014-09-23-15-05-55.jpg

If you convert it, thats 99.99 Dollars! That for a kids game! Lets make a news again!

There you have it. When some game, even if its F2P, sell its ITEMS for more than a retail game, then you should really concern about how gaming industry is going to corrupt. This is why i still likes PD. Despite their quirkiness they didnt seem to be blinded by money.

Dont worry though, some F2P games are actually pretty good, like PVZ2, etc.

I think buying credits is really stupid, like seriously. What happened to the old days when you had to put effort into it?

In the old days I could play all weekend and all night.
Now I am married and 1 1/2 kid. ( more like 3/4 but still..)

There is not enough hours in a day.

Hence; no 20mill cars yet. And I am working on doing the Redbull races.

I know exactly what you mean. But I can't manage to do the Redbull event to get the 2.000.000. Yeah I already won but somehow it's difficult for me to win again.... I can't drive those things, they move too fast for me.

The latest Grand Valley seasonal event (5 laps) gets you 324.000 cr with the maximum bonus. That's what I'm doing since last friday with the HSV 15th anniversary. Piece of cake even with no TCS no ABS. It's fun so it's not a problem for me to repeat the event over and over again.

I'll get you Ferrari 250 GTO and Jaguar XJ13...someday... (hopefully before GT7 comes out 🤬)

19 people voted that they bought credits! P.T. Barnam was right. There's a sucker born every minute.

Well i grinded for the Lamborghini miura a few days ago and it only took like... 5 hours...
and that includes lunch and frequent breaks to bask in the beauty of the beast... Maybe ill grind for a different extremely expensive car soon... it wasn't as bad as I thought... better than spending almost $180 on it!

I like to enter a really below-spec car in a seasonal. (200% login bonus) I then allow 10% of the winnings to go towards upgrading it & then enter it again. I keep doing this until it wins. By then, I've had loads of fun & made a bucket full of credits... 👍

Thats... actually a pretty cool idea! i might give that a try!

Would those suckers include people who spend hours and hours of their precious time running the same "race" over and over, to "win" fake "money", to buy fake "cars".? You realize we're not all the same right? To some of us time is much more valuable than a few dollars out of our pockets.

got all the cars, plus the vgt bug, already spent almost 30 millions ONLY for the tuning of many cars

I don't like the micro transactions and I don't like wasting my time grinding on the Red Bull Standard Championship, but for me that is preferable to paying out real money. In GT5 I bought every car by doing the B Spec Seasonal races - start the race, walk away - take the kids to school, cut the grass etc. etc.

In GT6 I am very selective with cars - I don't buy every one like I used to.

As a host I found out that some racers were buying in game credits or struggling to get cars so I introduced cheaper alternative cars. It's a shame to have to do that, but in the absence of B Spec the cars are now too expensive and rewards for online racing are ridiculously low - bearing in mind that not everyone has the skill or inclination to do the Red Bull Championship.

The only time I paid for add-ons is $2 for new mazes on my Pac-Man app.

I did the VGT glitch once and put the money in the bank. Currently I've got 35 mil credits which is basically enough for most of the remaining 1,000 cars I want in the game. Granted there are a few 10-20 mil cars I want, but I don't need more than one NASCAR (that was a prize) and one HSV 010 is enough as far as the JPT cars are concerned.

What this may come down to is addiction to racing tires. What are they, 45,000 credits a set? Equipping RS to around 230 cars is around 10.5 mil credits. Credits (for me) that were ultimately spent on more cars, not expensive tires. My total tuning budget is around 1.5 mil credits.

Now I'm not telling anyone how to play the game, but sometimes I think PD is teaching us a lesson in budgeting. :)

In GT5, I used to go to Ferrari Seasonal Events to grind money and try to get all cars. But I stopped doing this after it was gone.

In GT6, the rewards are really low and the B-Spec isn't in the game yet. Moreover, most of cars are so expensive, therefore, the Red Bull trick is one of 2 ways. The 2nd way is the Tokyo X Route from Like the Wind. I can't count Sebastian X and Ayrton Senna Tribute as grinding ways because after that they were done, we cannot earn money from them anymore. What an shame :(

In truthness, I never had bought the credits of PSN because they cost the real money. I want them to be downloadable without any price. When I played GT6 for the first time, I got 1 million credits because I own the Anniversary version.

I hope that PD can make the rewards higher than they are now.
