Has anyone checked to see if the new Nurburgring track is modeled..

^^^ This is a GT forum, which one do you think that we will choose? :)

Hmm, I checked some on-board videos to see:

Going by this, GT5 is a bit more accurate (Notice the trees and wire fence on the left). Although that stadium seems a bit too big in GT5.

But Forza 3 got the weather right :P

I just watched 'Ring laps on both GT5 and Forza 3 to compare and took these screenshots of the same corner in both games.

If they are both replicas of the same track, shouldn't they look the same?

I've never been to the track myself, but does anyone know which is more true to life?

GT4 Nurbugring is pretty accurate IMHO.

Does the Audi R10(?) in Forza 3 have monster truck tyres? It's sitting so high you can clearly see over the barriers into the field beyond.

Is Forza's version of Nordshielfe 4 miles longer?:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:... oh dear.. thats a huge mistake they've made isn't it?

No, they artificially widened (and flattened) it to make it less frustrating for online play. Nice idea in theory, but it lengthens the track significantly - to the point of not being the same track any more.

Oh man, FM3 is crap! The narrow asphalt surface is what gives the ring it's charm, also, the bumps and elevations makes the track simply breathtaking. What's the point in making it easier, and, 4 miles longer? ( i didn't know that, one more argument to fire at the forza fanboys who work with me.. :), thanks)

I've just had a flashback of trying (repeatedly) to pass the GT4 Nurburgring full lap licence test...looking forward to that in GT5 but doubt the missus will be impressed with me screaming at the TV when I 🤬 it up for the hundredth time.

The GT version is a lot more accurate. I notice that because of the 3D trees in Forza, there are too few, so they fill the areas besides the track with spectators etc.

What they should understand is that the 'Ring is in a forest in Germany, there are lots of trees. I'd rather have the right amount of 2D trees than so few 3D trees. Though in circuits with very few trees like Indianapolis, they should have really went to the effort of making a 3D tree.

Seriously? I didn't know that, thats odd. I knew it had imperfections, but i didn't know it was that bad.

You're going to love driving mission 34 :sly:

To be fair, it's a lot less stressful driving the FM 'Ring (I should note that it was the FM1 version which was 4 miles too long - I believe it's within a mile or so now) online than a 6 yard wide ribbon of tarmac with no room for error and a :censored:wit called CRASHYBOI46712 trying his very best to smash you into smithereens.

But it's not the 'Ring if it's not the same layout as the real thing.

I can't remember if I ever passed that one which probably means I didn't! Too late to try now, PS2 and games went to ebay land last year with a very noisy PS3 fat to fund a quiet PS3 slim. It was a sad moment deleting all my old PS2 saves...

I feel your pain, i had the same problem when i sent my PS2 packing, but i kept my PS2 and all it's games. I have to get my original PS3 repaired, but I have a 160 gig replacement one riding the lightening for now.

LOVE the Nurburgring, my favorite course hands down. Playing the heck out of it on PSP GT. Can't wait till GT5, it's going to be sweet juicy justice.

A tip I gave to my friends who also were having trouble was to drive fast, but don't push hard. Drive at a nice pace with a safety margin as the full lap Nurb tests gave a large amount of leeway to get atleast bronze.

Problem usually is players are not used to the track push hard thinking their time is very limited and usually dont finish the lap.

Wise words indeed. The problem is that I start to get a bit cocky towards the end of the lap and think "I'll get it a bit sideways going through the next corner" only to run out of skill and launch the car into the armco. Unfortunately I'm not just like that in the virtual world and have the scars to prove it!

The trees in GT5 arent 2D!
If they would be two dimensional, they would always "look" at you while turning etc. (one example for this is the foliage in MotorStorm 1). The trees in GT5 dont to that. I dont know the right term for it, but theyre X shaped when you look from top at them, 2 images which create the foliage etc. and a 3D log in the middle.

I think it's going to be a lot easier in GT5.
GT5 is much more realistic, resulting in a much better feel of the car.

^^It would be easier, if they know how to control the car with N3 tires in pro physics :), I will bet that a lot of people will experience a spin out in GT5 when driving to nurburgring. Well, if the physics engine's gonna be promising and more improve compare to GT5 TT demo, I might.

@Jay

Exactly, lapping the ring with that merc under 7::30 it's a piece of cake if you know where you can push hard ( after the bergwerk for example..) and when you have to hold on and keep third gear ( after karussel there's only a few turns taken in 4th gear ), I've played GT4 a few weeks ago and did silver on my first attempt, which was not that good since I've gone slow and steady, the secret of the ring is on being slow to be fast, BTW that merc handles brilliantly and the engine it's lively, german cars are simply awesome.

I miss the M3GTR road going version too, hope it will be on GT5 although it's very unlikely to.

It doesn't change the fact the trees arn't 3D models.

Like i said, on tracks with lots of trees it is better, but on circuits with very few trees in the background, i don't see why they couldn't have made them 3D.

Although to be honest i don't care either way. You have to give Turn10 some credit for doing something PD havn't bothered with.

  why you guys so worried about trees? Not like your going to stop half way through a race to admire them? "oooooo look at that one.. ooo lala... what a lovely tree.. oop hang on, I'm being lapped!"

 Now, that was funny.

Seriously tho, GT was always about the beautiful scenery for me ( and for game reviewers too BTW )... I've spent many hours just sitting in my car and staring at the background in GT1-4.
I guess a lot of "real GT fans" forgot about that since PD dropped the ball with GT5:P ...

Well just mentioning how the background for the 'Ring is more accurate in GT4 than in Forza 3 :) And thats because Forza cut down the number of trees to make them 3D, otherwise the 360 wouldn't have been able to handle it.

I suppose the track itself is what is important though, trees arn't a concern.

Tons of the trees in Forza 3 are just flat pictures, just like the backgrounds.
They also use 2D leafs on most trees (found this always extremely noticable when watching videos from the Le Mans track) which always turn in your direction. I think the trees in GT5 look extremely realistic when driving past them, the colors of the textures work great. Although, when standing right next to them theyre really ugly, theres also one spot in the Academy demo where you can move the cam really close to a tree (chase cam) where you can see the pixelated texture pretty good. Doesnt change that its the best looking racing game though.

EDIT: You could see these buildings also in GT4.

I don't see how you work that out rookiebalboa, that's there in real life, they've modelled it there in the background. They modelled a Maserati poster on the Tokyo track that's there in real life, so they're going to model a big building and grand stand.

I'd like to see the GP circuit and the full Nurburgring Nordschleife layout but we've got absolutely no evidence to suggest it will be in.
