I just watched 'Ring laps on both GT5 and Forza 3 to compare and took these screenshots of the same corner in both games.
If they are both replicas of the same track, shouldn't they look the same?

I've never been to the track myself, but does anyone know which is more true to life?
GT4 Nurbugring is pretty accurate IMHO.
^^^ This is a GT forum, which one do you think that we will choose?![]()
No, they artificially widened (and flattened) it to make it less frustrating for online play. Nice idea in theory, but it lengthens the track significantly - to the point of not being the same track any more.

I've just had a flashback of trying (repeatedly) to pass the GT4 Nurburgring full lap licence test...looking forward to that in GT5 but doubt the missus will be impressed with me screaming at the TV when I 🤬 it up for the hundredth time.
But it's not the 'Ring if it's not the same layout as the real thing.
You're going to love driving mission 34![]()
I can't remember if I ever passed that one which probably means I didn't! Too late to try now, PS2 and games went to ebay land last year with a very noisy PS3 fat to fund a quiet PS3 slim. It was a sad moment deleting all my old PS2 saves...

A tip I gave to my friends who also were having trouble was to drive fast, but don't push hard. Drive at a nice pace with a safety margin as the full lap Nurb tests gave a large amount of leeway to get atleast bronze.
Problem usually is players are not used to the track push hard thinking their time is very limited and usually dont finish the lap.
The GT version is a lot more accurate. I notice that because of the 3D trees in Forza, there are too few, so they fill the areas besides the track with spectators etc.
What they should understand is that the 'Ring is in a forest in Germany, there are lots of trees. I'd rather have the right amount of 2D trees than so few 3D trees. Though in circuits with very few trees like Indianapolis, they should have really went to the effort of making a 3D tree.
I think it's going to be a lot easier in GT5.I've just had a flashback of trying (repeatedly) to pass the GT4 Nurburgring full lap licence test...looking forward to that in GT5 but doubt the missus will be impressed with me screaming at the TV when I 🤬 it up for the hundredth time.
The trees in GT5 arent 2D!
If they would be two dimensional, they would always "look" at you while turning etc. (one example for this is the foliage in MotorStorm 1). The trees in GT5 dont to that. I dont know the right term for it, but theyre X shaped when you look from top at them, 2 images which create the foliage etc. and a 3D log in the middle.
ooo lala... what a lovely tree.. oop hang on, I'm being lapped!"

why you guys so worried about trees? Not like your going to stop half way through a race to admire them? "oooooo look at that one.. ooo lala... what a lovely tree.. oop hang on, I'm being lapped!"
Tons of the trees in Forza 3 are just flat pictures, just like the backgrounds. And thats because Forza cut down the number of trees to make them 3D
