Has anyone checked to see if the new Nurburgring track is modeled..

Whenever the 2 are merged together, for endurance races, they only use a portion of the GP circuit, not the entire thing. I'd love to see it in GT5. GT5 needs more F1 tracks.

For me, this is the proof:

How well modelled is now the GP circuit, unless viewed from the nordschleife...

Don't know if it was mentioned here before, but you can see a Lexus driving out of the box at the GP-Part of the Nürburgring at 1:27 of the Madrid-Rome-Trailer.
You can see the (old) stand of the GP-Circuit in the background.

that 'Ring photo rookiebalboa posted there.. the scenery looks far clearer than that of GT4. I mean its not too much different but that UFO shaped stand in the background is very clear now. Seeems proof of a GP circuit for me too.

I insist, those pictures still aren't a very solid proof. GT is known for modelling details, and GT5 is bringing that to the next level so I see no reason why they aren't there just for being part of the backdrop. It would be amazing to get the FULL Nurburgring though 👍.

Whaaaa?

You can only get 2 cars along side on the 'ring?

Precision, my friend - precision. 👍

Looks right to me.

*tuts* - I thought the two pictures were going to be a comparison!

What you have to remember is that nurburgring is part old and part new. The north route is ancient, while the GP sections aren't. Plus, any maintenance would probably result in marginal widening anyway. PD does the best possible representation believe me, Kaz wouldn't have it any other way.

I've always wanted to paint something on the track. and I think Gran Turismo is spot on. it looks exactly the same as real life to me.

Edit: The picture with the Aston Martins reminds me of that time when Top Gear were looking for the best driving road
and May had that yellow Aston .

Has anyone tried it in GT4? Since GT4 and GT5 Nurburgring are identical, only upscaled for HD. Stack 4 cars on the road and see if they fit? Xlink GT4, anyone?

And IMO they are spot on, the problem is the narrow camera view.

Imaging this in GT5 online! OMG!

Maybe they've upgraded certain sections since the release of GT4. Because that was back in 2004.. I might be wrong but it's possible.

What are you saying ?
I put my TV next to my monitor and watch the video of the GT-R R35 of GTTV and they look exactly the same, no more and no less wide.

Few things in GT5 will be close to GT5P, nor even a slim change GT4 and GT5 will have something identical. Have you played GT5P? High Speed Ring, Suzuka, and Fuji were in GT4 and they bare little resemblance to what appears on GT5P, GT5P graphics are much more sharper and the layouts more accurate than the ones on GT4. Also, as KY has stated, this game is being done from scratch and nothing is upscaled.

This is not true, just like the OP.

How do you know it's not true smart one? It would actually be very dumb of PD to remodel the whole track from scratch, especially a technical track like the nurburgring. I'm pretty sure they remodeled the trackside objects and such but the road itself was most likely done by just adding more polys for curves and such.

Upscaling the cars would be impossible but the tracks are very doable. Trust me I do this type of work for a living lol.

Those pictures aren't part of the GP circuit though. But the track width does vary quite a bit along its length. I actually tested it in GTR, see how many car widths I could fit across the track. It probably wouldn't be hard to do in GT4. Just line your car up somewhere on the left of the track, if there's some writing on the track note where it is relative to your car and move across and see how many car widths you fit into it.

They remodelled nothing, all I can see in the latest video in the news page is GT4 version with better resolution.

(Off-topic). ralph89, how did you get a standing start at the 'Ring?

It's the Xlink kai online for GT4. I haven't tried it, but I think you can customize your race if you want a rolling or stand still start.

That's a very small portion of a very long track. Besides, it's a video and on and intricate track like the Nordschleife you really have to drive to actually see if there is an improvement. The one in GT4 is pretty good to start with- it's just the driving physics isn't quite up to task. If there is improvement (to the track) it would be minor but noticeable enough to make a difference (to the driving).

If you're refering to the scenery and why it's lacking the circus atmosphere of NFS:SHIFT or the festivities in Forza, just remember that this is GT. You get the people and the tents in Rally and City races. On the Nordschleife, it's all about you, the car, the 20k or so of undulating track and those numerous blind corners. Anything else is just fluff.

I know what you mean about it seeming narrower in GT5 but It's really spot on dimension wise. I think the camera perspective in GT5 gives the illusion of it being thinner.

Here's a comparison video of GT4 and real footage.. Almost 90% of the track is more narrow in GT4 than in real life.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Reality-Vs-GT4Nurburgring_28366.htm

That's not a good comparison at all because of the view. From that bumper view in the GT4 clip you have no idea how wide the track is relative to your car. A chase cam would give you a much better idea of that. For the perfect comparions, you'd need the exact same view ingame and in real life.

As you can see on the video's of gt5 the track has a lot of bumps, the track in GT4 had a flat surface. The GT5 track will be very hard to drive fast.

Because the Gt4 track had a accurate layout it's hard to see the difference. But if you look at the scenery there are much more details.

All the bumps were already in GT4, I spent many months on that track, mate. It was only track in the game which had so detailed surface.

Personally, I think it's the FOV angle that's off, not the track. But this could easily be determined by watching the car from behind, it should show if it's wide enough or not.
