Has anyone tried it in GT4? Since GT4 and GT5 Nurburgring are identical, only upscaled for HD.

This is not true, just like the OP.
*tuts* - I thought the two pictures were going to be a comparison!
What you have to remember is that nurburgring is part old and part new. The north route is ancient, while the GP sections aren't. Plus, any maintenance would probably result in marginal widening anyway. PD does the best possible representation believe me, Kaz wouldn't have it any other way.
(Off-topic). ralph89, how did you get a standing start at the 'Ring?
They remodelled nothing, all I can see in the latest video in the news page is GT4 version with better resolution.
Here's a comparison video of GT4 and real footage.. Almost 90% of the track is more narrow in GT4 than in real life.

As you can see on the video's of gt5 the track has a lot of bumps, the track in GT4 had a flat surface. The GT5 track will be very hard to drive fast.
Because the Gt4 track had a accurate layout it's hard to see the difference. But if you look at the scenery there are much more details.
Personally, I think it's the FOV angle that's off, not the track. But this could easily be determined by watching the car from behind, it should show if it's wide enough or not.I think the camera perspective in GT5 gives the illusion of it being thinner.
