And when you suspend the race in pits, are you able to enter the race from there the next day even if you turn the PS3 off? Because i dont want my PS3 to blow up LOL :sly:

Your PS3 will not blow up ive done several 24 hr events and all before the suspend race setting was implememted. Just make sure your PS3 vents are clear, Its a falicy that these races destroy machines, they either havent been looked after or getting to end of service life.

Also as stated you can play other games or if you have more than 1 account you can play GT5 on the other account.

I also have a launch chunker. It has survived several occasions of being left on and running GT5 for periods encompassing weeks, rather than mere hours or days.

They Definately are the better model.

If mine dies I'll pay to get mine repaired every time instead of buying a new one, the quality is just not there with the slims etc.

We have an 80Gb chunker that has twice gone hovercraft and FRLOD - but survived. The 60Gb launch chunker (bought March 23rd 2007) is my everything machine and just keeps on going. It'll be five soon, with unimpeachable service.

*turns it on and it explodes*

Haha FRLOD? It got the Friend Request Light of Doom?

I upgraded my 60 to 750 - It had to be done, now I don't worry about space. Got mine March '07 too on release day in Aus, first ever console purchase on release day... of course I'd just split with my ex-wife so blowing $1,500 on a unit & games just seemed right :D

They're the best units :)

Flashing Red.

Made a startup noise like Fireforce 3 throttling up (or being run over by a hovercraft) so we forced a shutdown and were greeted by a blinking red light. Let it cool down and give it a quick can of air in the vents and all's well. It's done that twice.

Meanwhile, the 60Gb soldiers on :D

I still have my 250 GB PS3.
Has been on and off for the last 2 years, every day.
But after GT5 came out, it has been on for weeks sometimes, with minimum ventilation. :scared:

Just hopes it can hold on until the next console comes out.

My 80Gb made it through the GT5 platinum and that was including the better part of the Australian summer so somehow i dont think over heating was a problem (or maybe my PS3 is invincble?)

Seems like everyone has had a fairly decent run with the PS3's and GT5 lol

Well im 1 of em too, my PS3 which ive had since 2008 has been working like a dream come true !!! Lol knock on wood its stays that way. I get fairly good cold air in the room that its in but aftera 5-6 hour period i do hear the fan working overtime !!! Screaming lol

I only question it blowing up after hearing a couple of stories on here about that happening lol none the less the suspend feature sounds great and if that i might go all the way through the 24hour race at once with 4 other friends who are alao GT5 freaks !!! Lol

Cool information on PS3's guys :)

I have a slim with 120gb and I've run several enduros and left the thing on. Its a very reliable machine, if you get a usb cooling fan platform, that is used for computers, it can be left on longer, and be just as cool in the morning. Xbox....not so much.

Ha, my 8 month Xbox 360 sounds like a jet everytime I turn it on (which isn't to often anymore)...

Yup my original white brick 360 is VERY loud. My wifes new GOW3 slim 360 is very very quite. I cant even hear it running at all. My new PS3 is also quite. Well besides last night, made a strange noise. So I am a little nervous about that. :nervous: But I do have a 2 year warranty so if it dies no big deal. :sly:

and their service is better compared to xbox's so easier to deal with if it does. I wonder how many ps3s this game's endurance races have killed?

Ah i did it while PSN was down... I timed myself and i did it in 28 hours 11 minutes...(I beat my previous record of 31 hours which i did in GT4 on the PS2).. I only took a break for going to the bathroom, having a smoke and to eat a pizza... I used a wheel (GT driving force) and the 787B... It was really fun... I came prepared, i have over 100GBs of music on my PS3 (i had to put in a new HDD recently so i could put more on it) and i made a 30 hour play list so i could have some good driving tunes... I am considering doing it again because since the new updates the racing tires are more accurate, but i will probably do it again after i start my GT5 over on a 2nd account, and i will probably do it with the 908 LMP race car.

my friend's xbox red ringed over night (not the first time). he covered the fan and hoped it would overheat-reset. He came back to it later and the outer shell was literally melting. He decided not to send it in this time. He couldn't sell it. He trashed it and bought a PS3, and now he's a die hard ps3 fanboy.

Well i wanted to have my music playing i drive better... But yeah i was pushing for lower time but Mabey next time i will do better
