Has anyone ever jumped over a car in Seattle?

my friends and i were having a lan race and we tried to land three cars on top of each other.. can't be done.. had some interesting mid-air collisions tho'..

Landed on some hoods before, never a clear jump though. Be a cool thing to try though, thanks for the idea.

Try on Costa Di Amalfi. The jump after the U turn that's after the tight S turn.

It's hard to time it though. I almost did it by jumping my Camaro LM Race Car over a Honda Civic or something. You have to give yourself a bit of room between you and the car infront of you, or else you'll crash into them (if their car is way slower than yours). I just timed it right, and right as he came to the intersection before the jump, i floored and NOS'd the car all the way down the first slope, and was able to almost clear the car on the first jump.

Like others, I've come very close, and landed on a couple of bonnets. Usually the novelty of knowing I just landed my car on top of the another releves the frustration of "GET OUT OF MY DAMN WAY!" :irked:

Not quite, but nearly did running Citta di Aria in reverse against a friend. He was playing dirty and had knocked me into a wall in the first lap, so coming down the long straight section that leads into a short hill and then a few lefts, I kept it floored. The car... for lack of a better term, wall-grinded... on the right-hand side a good 20ft above the road, landing just in front of him, but clipping his hood. Scared the crap out of him, and made him lose control. After that, we agreed to race more or less cleanly ;).

My friend attempted this to see if it could be done. I think we came to the conclusion that it can't - he had enough clearance to completely clear a car, however right as the car was about to go over it, it acted like it hit the car - as if there was an invisible column above the car or whatever.

Sorry guys. Until I see screenshots of this actually happening I'd say actually jumping OVER another car can't be done.

When I was racing against my brother in Seattle, I just clipped his hood, not actually clearing his car. It might be possible, tho I've never actually done it.

You can't clear cars. Everyone "clips the hood". I don't know how someone could land dead on top of another car, because the game won't allow it to happen. You cannot enter even the airspace above the other car.

It's impossible. It acts as if you hit the car, even though you are 20-30m over.

Give it a try on... the track.. forget the name... (where you go through a tunnel, up-hill, down-hill, tight slow curve all with a forest around it, mean anything to you???) take a sunday-cup or so, take a powerfull car that is quite heavy, i.e. Vanquish, start the race and go inverse. Wait for them to be around the tunnel and try to time it so you smash them on top of the huge hill. You'll see that what happens is:
1. The first car flies up 20 good meters.
2. When a car drives under that car, it is stopped as if the car flying is a wall from ground to sky.

If it acts like an actual colision with the other car, only with an invisible wall, then would it be theoretically possible to break through, just as it is possible to break through track boundaries? Wouldn't you just need to angle it perfectly and use speed to beat the collision algorithems of the game?

thing is, track boundaries breakthroughs act usually by having a gap somewhere in the texture (I THINK!!!!!!!!) leading you to go through.

with the physics it think it is possible to enter somebodys airspace.

in the test couse, if you go speeding into the guardrail correctly you can go verticle (Standing up) and if timed right a car can go underneeth you

and in the driving mission test w/ the sunbird i could of sworn i got on top of a car

I spent nearly 1,5 hours trying to do that, but then as I finally had the perfect timing my car smashed to an invisible "shield" or something of the other car and didn't even get my cars nose on top of the opponents car. That has to be my most frustrating moment with GT4.

I tried it last night, to jump over a Honda Civic but it was no good. instead of going over the Civic my car would veer off to the side, completely missing the Civic all together.. has anyone done it yet?

Iam gonna try right now on 2 player :)

what happens though if you land on top of another car? does it go all glitchy or something?

Come on, guys, read the thread before you continue. You're wasting your time.

You can't jump over cars, in either GT3 or GT4 and I presume all earlier versions, too.

Cheers,

MasterGT

im gona try this : censored : right now....lol in a doge viper that his 268.17.....lol nope but my car did a wheelie whene it hit the ground and the front landed ont the gord gt trunk

FYI, if you are interested in trying to jump cars... the best place is cathedral rocks II, (the shorter one without the pavement)... it has that massive jump before the last turn.
but like previous statements; i don't think its possible. but on cathedral, you can get WAY higher than the other car... its very easy to time as well. i have some pix that *look* like i'm going over the other car... but i'm pretty sure i was going past it.
