I can't be alone in thinking that every track has the "Golden" car for it. You know, the go-to car, the car that can rarely be beat. The NSX at beginner Daytona, the Ford at Daytona expert, The Ferr. Cali. anywhere. :sly: I refuse to drive any of these cars. Whats the point? Winning is fun, but having a back and forth battle for 5 laps with someone or someones in "less competitive" cars is what its all about for me. Before the comments start pooring in, I realize that these Golden cars get beat. I have beat them. I'm talking about the outlandish winning percentages for these cars.:odd: Do ya drive them, hate them???
Just my 2 cents.

At Fuji i alternate between the F430 and the California and i get equal results with both.

i just drive my vettes and the ford GT on occasion. i perfer trying to beat the golden car in either of these 2 cars. good example trying to beat the cali on the no mercy match with my tuned vette. uterly useless seeing as a good driver will pull off 3 seconds a lap easy but i still like tring to push it to beat the car.

I find that the golden car for the older Fuji 800PP races was the S2000, but I won almost every time with the Mine's thanks to driving skill.

I generally try to avoid using the 'golden car' & would rather use something else. Winning then becomes a lot more enjoyable as you know you've beaten someone who is using a better car. I try to use one of the top cars though at each event. Im not really into using a vastly inferior car and trying over and over often with no results, to win or have a good race. Id rather drive something that is fast, handles well, is fun to drive but is not completely dominant.

I also shy away from these "golden cars" not necessarily because I don't want to win. But it seems like more oftem than not the golden cars come down to the Ford GT or the Z06(I know there are others, but for the majority in my opinion I see these two more often than not), and in the flesh they both are incredible examples of modern motoring and technological advancments. But they feel so cliche online... plus I've always been more into European motoring and hence get much more satisfaction from piloting the 1-series or a slower Lancia, TT, etc in 5th place than a GT, Z06, or S2000 in first. It's all about marginal utility lately when I play GT5P.

This is the same on Forza. It cant be helped, there has to be one or a few cars naturally better suit to certain tracks.I normally cant drive the golden cars dont suit my driving style.

I am driving cappuchino, G37 sedan, 350z, Brera and many not too popular cars. its more fun to win with themç

I don't care what the golden car is, I drive which ever cars I like. If the car I like is the golden car, good, I can win but actually enjoy doing it.

I cant agree. For expample in the F40, GTR and Z06 events the Z06 was actualy the "worst" but i have been using it anyway because i wanted to have FUN. ironic isnt it :D

the "golden car" applies to all gran turismos. unfortunatle, there's those of us who can make a TINY mistake with even a golden one, and end end up getting t-boned by 5 guys trying to stick to the racing line.

if I didn't have to wait till the price of the console got down to "peanut" level so i could see if the fixed the AI enough so that I wouldn't need to go to a hypertuned to place higher than 4th...

Not at the High Speed Ring it wasn't. Unless the F430 driver was really good a well driven Z06 was normally the best. The GTR was worst for lack of power. It all depends on the track.

I usually just drive one of the cars I enjoy most in a particular event. Sometimes this does happen to be the "golden car", but usually it isn't. What they really need to do is continue to tweak the PP system until they get it to the point where the performance of the cars is closer to equal.

There are also plenty of races I've been in where the "slowest" cars end up winning. Yesterday I ran a few at Fuji in the Ferrari 512. The last two races I ran I ended up taking Silver, while Gold went to another 512 driver (Rooster722, who is clean and very fast!) So you can certainly still have a fighting chance against the faster cars.

Way I look at it is kind of wierd that in a racing game the MOST aggressive & competetive sport, that so many are saying I purposly drive a lesser car??? WHAT is up with that. Personally I drive whatever is pleasing to me and 99% of the time that is a car that is capable of winning. While I confess I'm no where near the top level drivers, and there are some events I dont bother with because I dont like the track ( Suzuka) I dont understand this mentalaty is it a built in excuse for not winning. no fun to me to ride around in 7th place.

A lot of people (myself included) prefer driving RWD, simply because of the challenge. 4WD are very fast, and can be fun, but I find they just get a bit boring after a while - nothing against 4WD drivers, it's just not my thing. Same with FWD.

As a result I usually only race RWD, which puts you at a disadvantage a lot of the time (usually against GTRs or Evo Xs). The online races available this time are a lot more balanced between RWD and 4WD, however.

I don't know about that. I've seen you put in some very good times.

You use a wheel don't you? I seem to remember that you do. For me it comes down to which car do I love to drive? The sound, the handling, and most importantly how it feels through the wheel. Often this isn't the car which is easiest to win with, and sometimes it is. I do like the Ford GT LM for example, which has often been accused of being the golden car in certain events. I think different people come at this game from very different points of view. For me, the most fun part is learning how the different cars handle and getting some sense of what they would be like to actually drive. I also like tricky cars. In GT4 I probably drove the Yellowbird more than any other car. Why? Because I could drive a Vanquish or a Vette around Nurburgring all day and it would be less challenging than a single lap in the Yellowbird. Obviously I also generally prefer older or classic cars, but that's also not always the case.

That isn't to say I don't like winning, because I do, it is just my second priority, not my first. I do avoid cars which I feel I have zero chance of winning with, but as long as I know I've got a slim chance I'll take it!

i drive whatever will be competitive, but not the "golden car" if i can help it. it makes it more fun for me that way. usually if i drive the "golden car" i will win without much chalenge. thats what makes it fun, actually having to race to win, not just click off some laps 10+ seconds ahead of everyone else.

Yeah same here, I use to drive my Elise 111R/Tuned in the Suzuka 750PP event, the event was by far dominated by the GTLM, but I had tuned the Elise, and with me driving at the limits, I could just keep up. Although ther was the odd exception where the GTLM driver was really quick and I couldn't keep up. But it was fun trying.:D If I won it was a well deserved victory.;)👍 It was a great thing to beat the GTLM's and see the Elise at the top of the list at the end..:D
Peace,

Clio! Hate it! Hate it!! Hate it!!!
This thing makes rookies look like LEWIS HAMILTON!!!
Waaay too easy to be fast in a Clio tuned or not... or at least it use to be, I haven't noticed too many lately...

I think it all depends on the level of competition. when its high using the golden car doesnt seem to matter especialy when you're racing against 5-6 other "golden" cars.
But when the competion level is low I like to take the opportunity to use other "lesser" cars.

But yeah using the golden car, and smoking the competition gets old real fast.

Tis the reason I prefer lower pp events , any " lesser " car actually has a chance of finishing well.

I pick cars who i like to drive, sometimes it's a "golden car"sometimes not even near(capuchino tuned)
i drive for the fun and yes i do like the bnr Gtr and the clio tuned, the f430 is also very great. but a alfa 147 is fun too, I look at the pp's for a race and decide what car i will be using.

today i was able to fall not far behind in a tuned swift in the no mercy, very cool :)

I totally agree with you on that one, everyone runs for the Clios, Ferraris Cali's. I on the otherhand, if I see someone with a Mini, Integra even Mazda RX7's, I would bring a vehicle to match.

I personally like to challenge myself & bring the ignored vehicles( Nissan 350z's, Subaru's; Lotus Elises, Mercedes SLR's), sometimes I get really bold & bring a FF, and get this, I hardly finish last with the FF's in (Suzuka 650pp). It keeps the game interesting an if you get a bunch of racers jump on the bandwagon, pure driving skill & fun comes to light

Well first of all THANKS but your way too kind. Yes I use a wheel DFGT I understand where your coming from I too sometimes drive a car because I like the way it feels, like the Yellowbird man what a wild car.And asbad as it hurts being a Ford hater I like the GT & GTLM but after a few the old fire in the belly rises up and I have to win.:sly:

Yep i used the elise there too & it was great fun :D I could be pretty quick with it and keep up with some of the GTLM's. Was always satisfying when i won in it.

On London everyone uses the Mini or a Lotus, and I have tried them but couldn't help thinking that my Tamora is just so much better balanced *but thats my opinion on that car*. I do agree with you though and its a shame really, people don't bother searching through lots of cars to find one thats got a nice feel, they just look at whats winning all the time and pick that.

In no-tune races I'll drive what's fastest. No reason not to.

In PP races I'll try basically everything that fits the PP level. I'll put up my best time in the golden car and save the ghost. Then I try everything trying to equal it, or come close. I always look for the "surprise package". Sometimes I hit on something. Sometimes not. For instance I'm really liking the Mines at HSR right now. I don't see alot of them there and it's fun beating the vettes and GTLMs.

Beginner/Expert Daytona??

I'm not sure I understand the questions. My update has a beginner Daytona race which the NSX is dominate. I also have and expert Daytona race which allows the Ford GT, Vette Z06, and both non-tuned Vipers to race. The Ford GT is dominate here. Yes, I'm an Expert racer , with ALL driving aids OFF. But I do dabble in the begginer and intermed. races just to see whats going on. Please clarify.
