I suggest you to look up the word exploit in a dictionary.

"exploit" -

1. make full use of or derive benefit from

2. use (a situation or person) in an unfair or selfish way

3. benefit unfairly from the work of (someone), typically by overworking or underpaying them

This only backs up my argument. Hope this helps.

And whats your problem, really?

You've tried to cheat and failed. What does that make you?

I haven't tried any of your so called exploits in the game but earned my cars in the game by playing it.

I'm at level 27 and haven't grinded yet. With these online seasonal events I think the need for grinding is really not necessary anymore. If you just find other stuff to do you'll level up. Those seasonal events give crazy xp.

There's no B spec points on seasonal events - you have to grind.

I'm level 35 A spec, there's not enough experience points in seasonal events to move me up a level, I need 2,500,000 more points for next level, and I really don't like those seasonal events.

I have to grind...

Yes, they do provide excellent experience points and credits, but I was already level 30+ before they were introduced into the game.

I got there by grinding..

Easy.

Greycap

I bet you're also completely OK with returning home after you've worked your off for ten hours a day and Mr X steps out of the shadows with a gun and robs you blind. Oh, you aren't? Why so? He just thought it through and picked a much more effective way of making money than you did.

SS_1182

The fact that you just compared that situation to what goes on in GT5 is proof that this post needed to be written.

This kind of mentality. Believe it or not, I'm not the one who needs to relax.

At the end of the day, it is YOUR game. YOU do whatever you want with it, and i don't see how those cheats affect the online world... The only things they affect is your single player career.

But duping cars and bday glitches are much worse than grinding and so on...

Birthday glitch, duping cars, backup saves... call them exploits, call them glitches, call them CHEATS.

They're not intended gameplay elements. These are sort of like removing all the stickers from a Rubix Cube and then placing them back on in such a way that the cube looks like you solved it, like switching chess pieces around when the person you're playing against looks away, or like hiding cards up your sleeves to cheat in a card game. These are things that weren't intended as part of gameplay, just like birthday exploits or duping cars.

Being able to heavily upgrade cars may make a race easy, but it's still an intended part of gameplay. Running someone into a wall or spinning them out may be poor sportsmanship, but it's still part of the gameplay such as it was designed and intended. Cutting a corner is again poor sportsmanship, but something that wasn't accidentally allowed in the game.

Birthday exploits and duping cars through save backups aren't in the same boat as cutting corners, heavily upgrading cars, and running rivals off the road.

So not only are you looking for the easy out in game but your mom didn't give you enough attention as a kid so know you're acting out here for some.

Seriously!

Exactly. So why is this yahoo getting all bent up on how we play a game. Who cares if I cheat? Video games aren't meant for cheating. If this guy was talking about real life, then I would feel differently. Why do, some kid on the internet care one bit about how I run my video games? You just felt the need to show how much better and more mature than you are then everyone

And the b-day cheat and duping were not intended by the designers.

Well, we don't know that for sure. Once the news came out we received paint chips from gifted cars, a friend and I had already planned on sending cars back and forth to each other to duplicate paint chips. Is that cheating? Perhaps, but I wouldn't deem it necessary if PD's entire car/wheel painting approach wasn't borked. Of course, with the single-car limit in place for trading, it's a pretty tedious thing, and I only do it if it's an expensive car. Cheaper ones, I'll just buy the car for the chip itself.

Ok lets see over powered car for b-spec well yes its a must coz bob is a bloody retard how else are you meant to win b-spec ?

Leaving b-spec running while we do other things yep coz alot of us have lives to live and cant sit at the ps3 all day watching a retard in a car

Using an over powered car in a-spec yep well at the end of the day blame PD for that since the game takes so much grinding I want to get it over with as quickly as possible so I can enjoy buying and modifying and driving all 1000+ cars

1. Please clean up the spelling/grammar.
2. "Lives to live", and the entire 3rd paragraph, can be used as defenses for pro-duplicating. I'm sure there are people out there who want to play the game for long enough to earn over 100+ million credits, which will buy you... about 10 of the priciest cars in game. I can't imagine how long that would take though, and I'd be doubly surprised if they did it themselves instead of having a team of Bobs do it. B-Spec is just a very drawn out replacement for an instant credit Gameshark-equivalent code, as far as I'm concerned. It's implemented so poorly that I definitely don't take pleasure in "playing" it, at any rate.

I agee that faking numerous accounts in order to get birthday gifts is... somewhat underhand, but at the other end, is my daily trading of my 430 Scuderia between my account and my girlfriends account to duplicate the paint "cheating" as well i wonder? I just love the Rosso Monza colour so much, but should i have to buy the Ferrari over and over again in order to paint other cars with it? No.

This is an excellent example. It is a matter of scale... just like many examples in the OP, there are varying degrees of "exploits". What about people who save before opening a Level-specific prize car? To reload if it gifts them one they don't want? Should I really have to spend 375,000 credits every time I fancy painting one of my cars an LF-A colour?

I see a legitimate complaint for the Marketplace, with people claiming cars as un-duplicated or un-birthday-glitched when they are infact one of those things. People should be posting in their threads whether or not the cars are. However, the entire act of duplicating means you need to have earned the car yourself anyways. If User A makes a copy of the X1 they just won for completing the Vettel challenge, and sends it to their friend User B, how is that somehow ruining User C's game?

At the end of the day, it is YOUR game.

Ding ding! For the second time today, I feel this needs repeating.

On a similar note, the elitism around here is getting to be dangerously volatile. Whether it's this issue, or SRF, or wheel versus controller, or cockpit view, or Signature Edition versus regular. Abusive comments will not be tolerated from either side, and these topics are making it very, very easy for the staff to determine problem users.

So not only are you looking for the easy out in game but your mom didn't give you enough attention as a kid so know you're acting out here for some.

Typical internet response. This thread is a response to people losing their minds over people getting free cars in a video game. I'm not the one who needs love. People can either listen to common sense or abandon it.

I'll leave it at that.

Go read any thread about birthday or duplication exploits and you'll find all sorts of individuals who need attention.

I see the word "cheat" in a lot of threads lately(including this one) being used in a wrong way. So, defining the action of "cheating" would make our understanding of this thread better.

I believe we will all agree that "cheating" is breaking the "rules". Now the question is what are these "rules" of GT5. Obviously, the way the developpers made this game to be played.

Thus, I think we can rule out using assists and grinding in A-spec or B-spec as actions cheating or exploiting. What about duplicating cars though? Can anyone enlighten me on this matter? I am not discussing whether or not this "technique" should be used but whether or not it constitutes cheating.

This.

Abusing game exploits is in no way close to actually playing the game.

Thank You, I agree.

If you use a higher hp car in a low race, so what, that's part of the game.

Duping cars, birthday glitch etc are outside the realms of what is intended and should be allowed.

I have no problem if someone bounces around in their car to win offline races, however duping cars, then bringing them online like you worked hard for them is another story.

This. (mostly)

I was going to agree with the OP, but nope.

Grinding is NOT cheating. Why? Because people don't want to attempt to get cars via the birthday thing.

Letting your B-spec driver run an endurance race IS playing the game. Why? Because PD INTENTIONALLY put it there for it to be done, wether you must do it over and over again (like me grinding B-spec Indy 500 for the XP).

Now, the birthday exploit, I could see why it's called a cheat, but in the end it does NOT affect anyone (even in trading). Why? Because you obtained a vehicle yourself, sent it to yourself, and using it yourself. Everyone knows trading is now 🤬 up because of this, but you can just dupe your car if you fear it's a birthday car or if it's a scam.

Which brings me to the the "dreaded duping" exploit. Sure it's cheap and ruins the value of such a rare VIRTUAL CAR, but in the end, not everyone can sit there 24/7 and obtain hard to get cars.

For example, the Vettel Challenge. Not everyone has a wheel and the free time to sit in there attempting gold, little lone bronze. I (and others) have a DS3, which will not get you gold, but will barely get you bronze.

Sure the X2010 prototype is rare and all the "purist elitists" say "guard it, don't dupe it! Blah, blah, blah". I myself haven't gotten one, but could care less as I have 2 S. Vettel X2010's and will attempt to gain 2 more though the Vettel Challenge and from B-spec level 35.

TL;DR?
Over powered cars in a SINGLE PLAYER EVENT (that's right, NOT ONLINE) is NOT cheating because PD never put a HP or tire limit in A-spec (and don't want that ether). Same with B-spec. He drives like 🤬 until the mid-teens.

B-spec IS playing the game. Why? It's part of the game.

Grinding is not cheating, it's something that is OPTIONAL and is what all the elitists do instead of the birthday exploit to buy a car (or to just get the EXP to rank up).

The birthday exploit/duping isn't as much of a cheat as it is a glitch. A cheat is more like "enter a, up, square, y, b to unlock all cars". A glitch is not intentional. Get your facts right.

Now, I do agree the b-day/duping glitches are, well, cheap, but who really cares? It's a 🤬 GAME. If someone doesn't really have the time to grind for credits (or thinks it's boring (and it seriously is)), then they can just get their car from the B-day thing without affecting anyone and everyone's happy.

It's a game, and all the elitist/purist a** h**** need to 🤬 off and let us people who don't have a $100 wheel, a $500 seat setup, and a $1200 TV, or if your a working man, the time to obtain things. I myself have time, but I don't feel like trying a challenge over and over with a DS3. I don't have the money right now to buy a wheel (little lone the space to set it up). Winning is fun for me, grinding over and over for money (EXP is ok, but boring) is not. Doing a challenge over and over to just get bronze, is not. I'll do the b-day exploit to obtain expensive cars, thank you very much.

So, /thread. Seriously, this thread was pointless in the first place, and you had it coming.

Use your common sense please, just because they did not write a rule about duping cars, does not mean it isn't cheating. We all know that "technically" this isn't cheating, but that doesn't make it right either.

Well, what I wrote was pure logic. You however, emphasise the moral part of the case. There is no actual right or not. What is right is decided by your consciousness and morality. Some people consider GT5 to be just a game and justify the duplication of cars, while others like you (and me) want to get their cars from hard work and following the guidlines. There is no rule to condemn the first group and honour the second one(unless PD takes further action)

Agreed, good explanation. 👍

I think there is a huge difference between the Birthday glitch, duping cars from use of backup saves than grinding with B-spec. The game design allows you to use overpowered cars in many different races, otherwise they would have added further restrictions. Also as the manager of Bob, we should do what we like, like leaving him to "race" as long as he is doing well.

The birthday glitch and restoring backup saves to dupe cars was never intended in the games design. The birthday glitch I believe violates PSN terms and restoring backup to regain cars that you have already gifted is again done through the XMB, the game design does not gift you the cars back. They also limited car gifting to 1 per day to avoid people exploiting this to getting all cars in a matter of days, otherwise people could have a game-save of 20mil and buy new cars all the time and gift them to another account and gift them back multiple times a day. They patched the game to allow quicker methods of grinding by allowing you to start the race straight away after finishing it, so they must think it is not cheating.

The game design promotes grinding to level up and get cash for cars, and this is all done without having to use the XMB. The purpose of the birthday gift was precisely in it's name, this was not a game design to promte violation of PSN terms by creating multiple accounts with different birthdays.

If grinding is classed as cheating, then it is impossible to complete the B-Spec mode. If the B-spec driver can win the race without him needing to be managed then so be it, I provide the equipment for him to race to win all within the restrictions of the game. The exploits you are talking about are not in-game but out of the games control and can get you banned. Do not twist something that is classed as cheating by the game developers (Locking saves in first place and limiting car gifting to 1) to liken something that is legit in-game and promoted by the game designers (Adding option to restart same race) as cheating.

I used to really care about this, but after I stopped trading (which wasn't as big a deal as I made it out to be at the time) I pretty much stopped caring. What all the glitchers do does not have any impact on me at all, not in online races, not offline either. The worst thing was when the trading servers broke, not sure why that was, but if it was because of people sending multiple cars in one day then thanks, you lost me a 30,000cr Commodore SS. Big deal.

However the attitude of the glitchers is bewildering. Nothing you do in a race will make you win more money, but glitching doesn't even involve racing, so how on earth anyone can say 'B-Spec/cutting corners/using inappropriately overpowered cars/etc is as bad as glitching' is completely beyond me.

Also, saying that glitching is ok because it's PD's fault, have none of you ever played MW2 in a lobby with a glitcher? The one guy who managed to get on top of a roof outside of the map and spam noob tubes everywhere, or the guy on Afghan who glitched into a rock so he became invincible and invisible? Ok, that's nowhere near as trivial as the birthday or dupe glitch but my point is that if GT5 exploiters claim that as it's PD's fault, then were those who glitched in MW2 playing entirely legitimately because IW couldn't figure out how to stop these people?

At the end of the day, though, whatever anyone wants to do is cool, but their attitude (on both sides of the fence) is sometimes a bit unnecessary.

Grinding is not a cheat, it's a sadly necessary part of the game, without it I'd not be able to level up (660k XP needed to level from 29-30, barely half way yet).

You could argue the whole trade economy is also a cheat since your using a specific game mechanic in a spirit for which it was never intended.

But yea i do not care if people want to trade cars, i do not care if people want to dupe cars, i do not care if you want to set you gt5 disk on fire in protest, or burn your bra, or your ps3, i did not care if people wanted to spend 20 bucks and get a gameshark or codebreakers disk in gt3 or gt4, only thing i care about is people learn to drive the cars they have properly and play fair and race honorably online. Beyond that i nor should anyone else care how people got the cars they like to drive.

If you care about people cheating at a game, then just ring your ISP so you can't see the forums or connect to PSN anymore. Then it's all about what you do. Don't see a reason to moan about what others do.

it's ok, just a game. don't over abuse it and everything is fine. I still find myself lapping the 'ring in a stock RUF.
