I planned to create my own thread about this as micro transactions have not been my concern. However it seems my experience may have some relevance here.
I decided for whatever reason when I started playing that I would try to get as far as possible spending as little possible as I could. Gt5 for me was a bit of a grind and I wondered if there was a better way to play. I think Gt6 has done a great job of allowing progression without repetition and I've enjoyed my time with it all the more for it.
I'll note now that I haven't purchased any upgrades or tyres or paints or wheels or anything. Except! For custom transmission on my muscle cars so they don't buzz the limiter on longer tracks, and a couple of removable turbos to up the pp on existing cars.
I won't go into too much detail as frankly I can't remember what I won, from where, or when. But currently game completion is as follows;
Seasonal events, all gold except anniversary event as I don't own these cars.
Goodwood event, all gold 1-1 to 5-3
Lunar explore, 3 gold
Novice, all stars, all gold coffee and licence
National B, all stars, all gold mission, coffee and licence. 3/3 gold one make.
National A, all stars, all gold mission, coffee and licence. 1/3 gold one make.
International B, 69/141 stars, all gold mission, coffee and licence. 1/2 gold one make.
International A, 12 stars, all gold on mission races and coffee break.
I have a collection of 31 cars. 7 of these I purchased.
Racing karts, all categories.
Toyota Prius.
Toyota 86 'racing'.
Corvette ZR1.
Total CR 266000
These were purchased either to complete a section 100% or to cross over one make and section races. For eg the Prius is a one make race but I also used it in National A 'electric circuits.
I have completed 61% and by looking ahead I know that I don't need to buy any new cars until quarter/half way into International A series.
At time of writing this it is worth noting that since I have bought few cars and upgrades I currently have CR 2,476,876. I think you will agree that I'll have no trouble purchasing gt3/500 cars for later races.
Gt6 imo is not broken or unfair because of microtransactions at all. Yes there are fewer prize cars, but the ones given allow us to advance in the game a long way! And for reference I have not repeated many events along the way either. Gold on first race and move on in 95% of the cases. My credit total is not inflated by grinding.
Edit: I decided to make this post now because I have just seen log in bonus, inflated pay outs and large win total for seasonals. My progress was made before 1.02 patch 👍
