Have you ever lapped someone while on your second lap?

Managed this 'feat' by a whisker last night in the 1000 Miles race on Sarthe. Just came over the final chicane on lap 2 and passed the Fiat 500.

Shows a 6km straight and a top speed of 66mph don't make a good combo! :sly:

Haha, nice. No, I haven't done that, but I have lapped the last two cars in the DTM on midfield and high-speed ring :)

I'm doing that 1000 miles! race right now.

I thought, cool, any car made before 1970? I'll bring my Vette! Apparently this race was intended to demonstrate than the US is the only country that could build cars before 1970. :D So yeah, lots of lapping occurs.

You lapped a Fiat on La Sarthe?! I would have to see it to believe it. A lawnmower on a track that long? Insane.

Hey, they do it.. most of the opponent cars on the 1000 Miles! race rarely have much above 100 HP, unless of course they decide to toss something American-made in there. :D

Jaguar E-Type.

To be honest I'd struggle to lap it each time, I was NOSing it down the straight with full (and sole) intention of trying to lap it.

I had Dead Fredhart Jr. at the wheel, cruising conservatively on La Sarthe and so far I've lapped the 6th position 3, about to be a 4th time. :D *pets his 'Vette*

Haha, I think I used my superbird for that one. Dont' remember now, but whatever I used it was American and wasn't fair at all :)

:irked: I almost felt bad but the crappy prize car at the end lessened my remorse significantly. I'd like to get something worth.. SOMEthing after putting that many miles on a car. :irked:

If ever I lap a car on the 2nd lap, I usually wonder why the hell I'm doing such an easy race ... not that I've ever done it, by my brother did it on Fuji '90s with the AMG mercedes, Diffiuclty -10 and cutting through the final chicane.

Do you race?

Agreed 👍 If there isn't at least one car I'm still battling with after, say, 50% race distance I usually quit and try a slower car. Of course, that often doesn't work when the game then gives me a different grid, resulting in either a) the same problem, or b) the opposite.

true, but then I had been through the tedium of 95laps on Opera, 99laps on Cote d'Azur and the less tedium but nonetheless time consuming 25laps of the Nurburgring.

I just wanted that race over and done with and went for the fastest thing I could get my hands on. I prefer the close racing on the slightly less lengthy races, after all to stay competitive over 3hrs requires some fine tuning on your part (which I couldn't be bothered with!)

 Nice one! Poor little Fiat.

Can't say that I have... at least not on the second lap.

I did lap a Toyota 7 at Autumn Ring in GT All Stars using a Chapparal 2J and figured... what the hell? :boggled:

Then I looked at the replay. Game couldn't keep the poor little 7 on the road!

Ive also done it but in more dubious circumstances

Le Sarthe F1 races and one particular F1 car was annoying me so off the track he went on lap one thanks to me "forgetting" to brake.

22 lap race... i lapped him 21 times in my R8

Thats what you get for annoying me muwhahahahahah

Every time I try to be good-natured and competitive I get stuck with a rabbit. :irked: It really blows my competitive spirit to get stuck in races were one of the cars just grossly outperforms you. There's only so much of a mechanical advantage that good driving can overcome, and I'm not THAT great of a driver to begin with, heh.

I don't see how some of the people on here manage to pass 200 pt. A-spec races. Depending on the competition, anything over 40-50 seems pretty darn impossible to me, heh.

I have and im proud!!!! Well it wasnt against the AI though. i was waiting for my mate to come round so we can go to the pub and he came in and saw me playing gt4 Having never played it i challenged him to a two player race. I picked my sauber and i somehow managed to convince him that the lancia stratos (totally standard) was a match on infinion raceway :D

Well after a few rams i managed to point his car in the wrong direction and he ended up driving the wrong way around the track for 3 laps before asking what the red sign ment. I told him it was the oil light, Bless him

the 1000 miles is a European event - how can you use a Corvette? ? ?

Given the length of 1 lap at the Nordschleife, any lapping on the 2nd lap there is pretty meaningless.

But it is all relative, the fast car still has to go twice as fast as the slow car around the track.

It is probably harder on the fastest tracks as the slowest cars make up time (or don't lose time!) in the slow corners as much

I did lap a CV2 (that it's proper name ?) twice in 5 laps... I was driving soem higly tuned machine though (AC cobra I believe). lol wish i saved that replay

They allow any country of mfg in it, though. Which in hindsight seems pretty stupid since all the 70's US cars vastly outclass the European/Japanese ones.
