So finally, I got my PS3 back and am about to back up the data on a External HDD. It has the original 250 GB that originally came with my Acer so with its massive size, I thought it'd be perfect to use for the PS3. However, there's a problem: I can't seem to get it to convert it to FAT32. Everytime I try, all I get is either NTFS or exFAT. Could anyone help?

Well, to be of no help at all...:

However, you may have to plug in your external drive (that you copied your files to) and let the system recognize what sort of calibrated drive the data came from. That may allow the option for FAT32. I only know this from a friend's experience, not my own, however. :)

I think you can convert it once you plug it into the ps3. There was an option to convert to work with ps3 last time I looked. Also just google this. I have a Mac and it was super simple, but I know it's even easier with windows.

I'll try and see. If this works, I will soon have myself a nice 250 GB backup in case the PS3 asplodes.

Ah planning on cloning your PS3's hard drive? If not that would be a very good thing to do. Does not hurt to have a second backup.
