:nervous:

While playing last night my PS3 suddenly cut-off at the same time as my receiver, TV, & DirecTV box. This happened as I was purchasing the McLaren F1 GTR, had 12,xxx,xxx credits, and had just been promoted to level 36 of experience.

When I turned my PS3 on this morning, I was horrified to find out that NONE of my profile is present. I don't even have a profile picture now, and worse yet, all of my (200+) cars are gone, and I have NO experience points.

I looked at what I think is my hard drive, and there is a "corrupted file" in there that I can't open. Is this my GT5 "life"? Most importantly, is there any way I can GET MY STUFF BACK? You guys have to help me... I'm on the verge of having a nervous breakdown!

Unless you have a backup on a USB then I'm afraid it's gone. Sorry.

This is why I backup my data on a USB stick on a almost daily basis. I lost my data at one point but luckily I had backed it up on a USB.

How manny times did we said it here!!! Get a USB stick and back it up...
If you dont have it your lose....

Jeez, you guys... This is sickening! I guess I should find out how to back up stuff via USB now. I can't believe this. What happened to make it all disappear?

What about the tracks and cars that I already purchased from the PS store? Is all of that stuff gone too (even though I paid for it)?

As you can see by my post count, I'm not here that often, Alex. Thanks for the show of support, though.:O

Not gone, you will just have to reinstall it from the purchased but in PS Store. :)

It shut down while saving. This results in your save file being partially overwritten.

You are evidently mad right now, but ask yourself, "Is it really that bad?"

You have DLC, and therefore you have an Internet connection so you can access seasonal events, which give out a generous supply of money. This will provide you with a stress free progress through the general career mode.

The only thing I can think of why I would be upset is if you have spent lots of time on the licence tests or in the endurance races, but then again, we all have 🤬 that happens to us every now and again.

Peace. :)

FEATURE REQUEST FOR PD:

during the 'saving data' moments, how about a friendly reminder, or a watermark on screen to remind you to SAVE YOUR DATA to USB after when exiting game.

no biggie my friend, it's the experience under your belt that counts, if you can drive them, you'll have your favorite cars in no time, 1 million / lap in 6:30s on the Nordschleife 650pp seasonal, which by the way, is winnable in a 505pp CSL at 6:49s, beating AI's 6:55

after reading this stories i got 2 usb sticks with a backup! this really sucks man. well i got the game completed for 1 year now so i got allmost all stuff double, and i even got to much money now...so if you add me i can send you some cars...

If you hadn't transferred your save data to the USB for backup, your data can unfortunately be corrupted, that's why a lot of players backup their save datas in advance.

In case you really had your data gone, as tankass pointed out, you may be better dip into high-salaried seasonal races which makes the early progress less stressful.

You guys are great! I feel much better considering some of the stuff you've pointed out, and the offer to add me so I can have some cars is so cool! I guess I have to become more active in this forum from now on... AFTER I go and get a USB stick!

Are you a PS+ member if so do you have your playstation set to do a self backup?

I can't believe that people still get burnt by not backing up there game save. I've been backing up since PD allowed us to do it and I make sure that I back it up at least once a week.

USB sticks are dirt cheap and backing up your game save only take a few seconds.

This happens WAY to much  But yah, ge the USB. Save it on there every time you quit GT5 and before a trade... But reinstall the DLC thus giving you more then maby 20 cars and go to the online races giving you a nice chunk of change. If all else fales when i can get on I'll send you a few items. 👍

Try to have multiple back-ups, not just one. As in my case, I had 4. 3 of those 4 were corrupted.

Put a backup folder on your PC and stick each new backup into its own, dated folder.

Restoring the backups to other consoles lets you know if they're good.

This is exactly what I do. 👍

Well, I've always just logged on and played. I really have no idea what the process is for backing up things. Do I simply take a USB stick and plug it into the port? Please excuse me if this has been covered several times in other threads. Thanks again, everyone.

Happened to me once with GT4 on the PS2. I got so mad, but eventually i got to the point i was in. Licenses, the black Le Mans cars, everything gone. I know it sucks, but you just have to live with it and learn from your mistakes, backup once in a while it's worth it. Good Luck

Same thing happened to me last Saturday. I was stupid enough to never have made a backup... I lost about 500 cars, my lvl 39 a- and b-spec

Indeed, thanks to seasonals and DLC, I managed to get back to lvl 25 a-spec and lvl 24 b-spec as of now. Also golded all license tests again, and now working on the Special Events.

Good luck, and remember, playing GT5 should be fun, and it's certainly fun to be able to do al these races and events again!

XMB - game tab - saved data utility (PS3) - Gran Turismo 5 file - triangle - copy - select destination - your USB drive.

You can back up your game data to another account on your PS3 if you don't have any other storage.
This will help you if your save file becomes corrupt, but is no good if your PS3 fails.

There are a lot of racers on here with more money and cars than they know what to do with. The bad news is, some of the best cars (over $1M) cannot be traded or gifted. The good news is, there are plenty of other cars that can be gifted, and many of us sympathize with your situation even if it is of your own making. So give us your PSN ID and I'll be sure to send you some goodies. Consider it a silver lining. :)

Same here and I also save the file on my computer, just in case. I'm going to get a back up usb at some point..

If you add me, I have a 787B on share that can wreck the 700pp 'Ring event in Real Circuit Tours. I could also share anything you may need to complete the seasonals.

I just started doing multiple backups myself. I wonder how 3 of yours ended up corrupted? I take it you had to go back to the first backup?

Don't forget that if you reinstall a game without adding all the exact upgrades and dlc back in, the game will tell you your save file is "corrupt". I ran into this the other night but my save was actually fine. I think there should be a warning with different wording for this scenario because it's misleading.

If you haven't started over yet, I just found that you can attempt to salvage a lost save file.

On the main menu before you select GT Mode, choose Options, scroll down to Others, pick Utilities, and select Salvage Files.

I don't know how much it can salvage or if it'll even work, but in your case, I'd say it's worth a shot.

What do you mean by upgrades?
