HELP!!! All of my progress is GONE

While playing last night my PS3 suddenly cut-off at the same time as my receiver, TV, & DirecTV box. This happened as I was purchasing the McLaren F1 GTR, had 12,xxx,xxx credits, and had just been promoted to level 36 of experience.

When I turned my PS3 on this morning, I was horrified to find out that NONE of my profile is present. I don't even have a profile picture now, and worse yet, all of my (200+) cars are gone, and I have NO experience points.

I looked at what I think is my hard drive, and there is a "corrupted file" in there that I can't open. Is this my GT5 "life"? Most importantly, is there any way I can GET MY STUFF BACK? You guys have to help me...

The facility to do a back-up has been on your XMB menu for apr a year now. How did you miss it ?:dunce:

Well, I've always just logged on and played. I really have no idea what the process is for backing up things. Do I simply take a USB stick and plug it into the port? Please excuse me if this has been covered several times in other threads. Thanks again, everyone.
