that's pretty vague :dunce:
you cant get something for nothing
useful answers require informative queries, keep that in mind

anyways, i'll do what i can for you with that limited info
the biggest thing in executing a successful drift, is just having the proper line, entering too early or two late with the wrong amount fo rotation or too much speed will invariably lead to an off-track excursion, or a date with the tire barriers.
Also, since I'm not sure what you're using for a car, I'll suggest that you use an FR with around 250-300hp on simulation tires. The (possibly) lower hp will obviously cause you to go slower, so the proper entry point is easier to find. I reason this because the track will be passing you by less quickly.
Past that, its all about balancing your throttle and countersteering, but we'll worry about that later.
If, after those couple suggestons, you still experience problems, try cutting the speed even more until you get the knack. And PRACTICE!

Another useful hint is to use the SEARCH button. I know this topic has been covered numerous times.

For now, I think that's all I can suggest. If you were to provide more information you would likely recieve more useful instruction. Maybe tell us if its your tail snapping out and pulling you off track, or if you're understeering into walls, or simply running out of track before the exit, etc. Tell us exactly what you're experiencing. Something about the car you're usig would be nice too :dopey:
Even better would be if you can capture a video of your drifting (wmv format from capture card, .max or .xps from maxdrive or xport - whatever)

like i said, you posed a very vaguely structured question, so the best i can give is a over-generalized and foggy answer

besides crackin on me for doing this for the first time thanks for the help i use a nisaan 240sx typex(j). The thing that keeps on happening is that the front of the car wont stick no matter how much i countersteer or give it throttle. But i will try what u said before posting anymore info thanks again and im not dunce just new to this whole posting thing

hehe, calm down, it wasnt meant to be taken too personally. Was just trying to squeeze some more detailed info out of you

it sure sounds like you're just carrying a bit too much speed - to me at least.
But from that i still cant definitively conclude if you're spinning off backwards into walls, or if you're unable to initiate drift occasionally and are understeering off.

You could try running the car with slightly more front camber, softer stabilizer, and maybe softer bound and stiffer rebound to try and build some grip up there. This shouldnt be required though. The 240 is a decent drifter straight from the dealer.

Playing around until you find the right line and entry speed is likely the solution.

Thanks that did fix the problem my back was swinging me into the wall lowering the horsepower let me get more control over the drift and intiate it better than before. Once again thank you for your help. :dopey: :)

What do you mean u can make some. Is it that easy for you to do stuff like that. And u didnt aswer my question if ur one of the DRIFT GODS.
Its easy to make settings.. try using the depot and search through the whole thing

you sheould realize that settings that suit one person might not suit you
for example, in comparing settings with Suzuki, we realized that we have very different tastes
he sets his suspension pretty soft, I prefer to have mine set fairly stiff

my 240 settings looks something like the following (i'm winging some of this b/c i dont remember it exactly):

springs 13.2F/10.2R
ride height 89F/89R
bound and rebound all at 7
toe 0F/-0.5R
camber 4.0F/1.5R
stabilizer 4F/5R

brake balance 10F/19R
LSD 45/45/30
Auto Gear level 24
ASM and TCS 0

sim tires
full drivetrain/suspension/brake/weight reduction mods
engine boosted to 252hp

something like that works well for myself - this is approximately what i used in my first vid. But i cant say with any certainty that someone else will be happy with them

With some minor modifications on your settings they came out to be very promising on my side that is. What is your first vid, can i get the link to it please. Thanks for the settings. I like this place i never knew about it until i was chatting with someone and since i drift in real life they said that they got some of there tips from here at GTPlanet.com so i decided to try it and now im stuck on playing GT3 instead drifting in my car. (WOW i need to get out more :odd: )

it's in my signature

I was just watching your first video and the way you enter drifts is is really good. I want to know how you enter your drifts meaning where on the turn do you start how high on the track you are the average speed and throttle control and oh yea dont forget steering. Im really trying to get serious about this and you seem like the perfect person to ask. Plus im a newbie :dunce:

thanks

I make the most extensive use of braking and lift off for entry. If you're unfamiliar with the terminology, check tis post by Bryan C..
I will throw in feint occasionally, but I do not use it the same magnitude or frequency as some of the other guys around here. Not a bad way to go though, pretty stylish. I veer away from it because i set my car relatively stiff, so massive amounts of swaying arent required to start weight transfer, just a quick flick here and there.

As for where i initiate drifts and at what speed - theres no definite answer to those questions. For the most part i try to stick to the racing line (where it is appropriate). The speed is directly related to the radius and duration of the turn. I can say with some level of confidence that very few drifts (on sim tires) will occur above the 70-80mph range.

the bit about throttle and steering:
seems to me I've answered this question before.
Yes, here it is
Mine is the 4th post - I would have isolated it, but R-Riders and Swift have posts there that might be a good read also. My post reads a bit like a physics journal, talks a lot about force equilibrium, etc. But give it a read. Focus on the 5th, 6th and 7th paragraphs in particular. If you need anything explained, dont hesitate to ask.

It will take time to adjust, but you'll get there. Personally, throttle control and steering are the two biggest things i still work on when i drift. I messed up more than a few times in that lap you watched. I've become slightly better since then (imo), but I still notice lots of areas for improvement.

From reading your posts about drifting ive gotten really, really, really good. Just from practicing for more than just a couple of hours(damn i must really have nothing else to do). But besides that now i want to create videos and i dont know what to use should i buy a camera that hooks up to the computer or something i need to know everything in detail and if you already have a post for it just forward it to me and ill read it. I still havent had my first question asked. Are you and the subaru pic guy consider one of the  DRIFT GODS  of GT3?(i must know)

drift god, i like that

no i'm certainly not,
imo, I still have lots to learn and correct in my own style and technique

I heard some very bad news today. I think you should sit down for this :guilty: .................................................................................. GT4 has been pushed back again til MARCH freaking MARCH  again i cant take this crap anymore i would say that i would take back my money that i put down for it but im not that stupid. I cant believe this crap :banghead: i think i might go crazy if i dont get it soon :scared: :dunce: :nervous:

Please, let's not start the "Drift God" thing again. Please.

greddy240sxse
Hey arent u one of the supposed DRIFT GODS? And you dont have settings for the 240sx typex(j)

LOL....

He's a GTP Veteran... Not a Drift God....
