$9000 for a Chevy that had the issues just listed is insane! Those cars are likely around your total budget new and 9 grand is grossly overpriced for that.

Actually $9,000 isn't overpriced at all for that car, it's about what it should run. Used cars are very different here in Michigan since we export most of them to other states so it makes the market have slimmer pickings. This is due to the fact that everyone works for the auto industry, has someone in their family that does, or knows someone meaning they get a discount on a new car. A huge percentage of the population won't buy a used car because there is no reason too.

In other states, sure a Cobalt might be much cheaper, but looking around here that's about what they sell for.

And here's two other SS non-supercharged in better condition

Hmm okay fair enough. I'm realizing I am lucky with the cost of used cars here in Vancouver. Japanese cars are dirt cheap, rebuilt Cobalts with that mileage would never sell for $9000, and the Craigslist section for used in Vancouver is flooded so badly you have to go many pages just to go back a day or 2 of posts.

Would importing from Canada ever be an option? London/Toronto aren't far away but I've never imported a car so I have no idea of what that process involves.

Oh and that first Cobalt you posted Joey has 111k miles not 60k. He says it drives like it has 60k.... God if that is regular priced that's unbelievable.

My 2000 Accord v6 coupe, fully loaded that I bought from the dealership I work for cost me $5500 with only 65k miles on it... And that's Honda at a dealership. I got a deal because I work here but they still made a profit off of me.
