I completely understand that. I was really just giving an example of how affordable the car is. For a TL, there's really no reason to go out of state, esp. from the north to the south unless you're heart set on a 6-speed Type S.

Yea i just had a look on Craigslist and Cars.com and they have dropped a bit from what i remember, when most were over 20k now they are well under.

Of course this depends on your state, but out-the-door costs can be staggering. In Washington, you can add 10-15% to the price of the car...that's your out-the-door price. Not a big deal if you're financing, but it makes a hell of a difference if you're trying to pay cash.

The oldest ill go is 90s Japanese sports cars, but the ones I want are considered a bit too high performance for my age. Maybe if I find a good deal on an 80s 944 I might go for that lol. I like technology and all that fancy new stuff on cars though. But when I'm older and have more knowledge about cars I'll find a classic car and work on it. It's my dream. but for now it's not an option.

If I were you I'd go for something cheap, small, cheap to insure, slow and with good fuel economy.

You'll get just as much fun out of a 3 cylinder :censored:box as you will a sportscar. In fact with a slow car you can thrash it and still not break the speed limit.

Then when you're older, buy yourself an Impreza or something to drive at the weekends.

With my 20k I bought an E46 330i with 30,000 mi on the clock. Cost me $18k, saved the other 2 for maintenance. Probably would cost $16k now, who knows.

Best car I've owned, even if not the most reliable (^that one's not mine, but it might as well be).

No teenager in his right mind would purchase any of those cars, the maintenance, repairs, and restorations would be expensive and not worth it. Besides, us teens like newer cars because they are filled with new technology and are a lot easier to drive. If i had a lot of money though, i would definitely purchase a classic which i would drive when i'm in the mood for some nice cruising. I am looking for a daily though.

Speak for yourself. I for one would love to have a classic car as my 1st car. It would be perfect for learning car maintainance, and the best way of learning car control with a rear wheel drive car with skinny tyres. The repairs wouldn't necessarily be expensive.

Well anyway, after a lot of lurking on Craigslist and Cars i came across this beauty, and called the owner immediately. We agreed to deal tomorrow. Here it is:

2009 Lancer GTS, 2.4l engine, 24k miles, conveniently priced at $9,000! This is it for sure. I really want to get some new rims for it though lol.

I love classic cars and would be more than happy to have one as my first car. The lack of electronic aids (ABS, PAS, TCS etc.) will make you appreciate what a car actually drives like. 👍

Seems kinda cheap for a car that new. Make sure to look under the car for any rust. You surely wouldn't want to get anything with water damage. And be sure to inquire about any damage or accidents. Also, a non-Evo Mitsu would definitely not be my first choice. When the mileage get's high, the reliability sinks.

To each his own, but one thing mate.. I'm 16. My car's a 1978. (Over twice my age ) The way I see things. the technology can be a hindrance at some times - Sure, there's more things, but that just means more that can go wrong & those in return require more expensive and/or fancier tools to fix, making it almost impossible for someone on a low budget (Like myself) to repair in their backyard.

With that being said, fuel economy does come into play.. & as far as daily drivers go, the car(s) you've chosen are perfect. Good luck with the search. 👍

That's not really that unheard of for a 2009 FWD Lancer. For a car with a low resale value in the first place, I'd say it's not too much of a stretch, especially from a private seller.

I drove one of these back in 2008 before I bought the Spec V, and was somewhat underwhelmed with it. The styling on the outside is great, there is no disputing that it looks good, but I couldn't take driving it serious enough for it to not be one of those cars that will make you wish you had a 38,000 dollar Evolution the next day.

Damn, he didn't include that in the original. Then when my brother in law asked him he asked it was only some fender problems after he got rear ended, it sounds and drove smoothly, but my dad and brother in law advised against it as they thought the title would cause too many problems down the road. So we left it.

It really ****ed me up today, but plenty of other fish i guess.

I'd be skeptical of some fender problems being the only issue, remember that car was totaled and written off at some point. With it only being 3 years old I would image the damage woud have been pretty substantial for the insurance company to write it off.

It's been on the lot a long time (at least 2 months if not more) and I've actually driven this one when my buddy was looking for his 3-series. It has a lot of miles on it but it felt pretty solid. It might be worth a look and I'm guessing if you try hard enough you could get it for $9,000/$9,500.

I'm not sure where you are at in Michigan but one of your links showed a Livonia dealer and you've been searching Detroit Craigslist so I assume Detroit Metro.

I was skeptical too, since a salvage title accounts for over 60% of damage, it can't just be a ****ed up fender.
