Help me decide what car to buy for the summer

The risk you run with cars like this is a sudden large bill that you can't really afford.
On the plus side, if you happened to find that particular 355 for sale, you know that the engine was rebuilt fairly recently :D.

The car in question looked to have rusting sills, etc, but yep. If I stumbled across that bill amongst the paperwork file of a better example i'd have to poker face until we shook on it.

He sold it not long after the service for $49,000 iirc.

I thought that it was your invoice? Was it not?

It seems ridiculous to spend $35k on a car which you're going to take pretty pictures of and post on your Facebook page.

For considerably less money you could set up a proper website or blog, which would grow your audience considerably more than an old Ferrari.

1 and 2 look to be 328s, I could be wrong... If they are, for some reason I always prefered the 308, I think its the chin spoiler on them, they are just more, cute-c, idk.

5, I have a 1:18 model of the 360 Modena, right behind me, from when I was a kid, I once loved the car. But now I personally I think it was the beginning of another dark era at Ferrari (which has now ended), learning how to use electronics, which they've now mastered.

6, I wouldn't touch a 412, not pretty, great engine, not interested in anything else.

1 is a 308. 2 is the 328.

And 6 isn't a 412, it's a 456.

"And engine was missing"? Yeah, I'd say that's a problem! :p

It's certainly an unusual set of Ferraris to choose from. Not the cars themselves, but the variety - in the UK at least, 550s hover around the £50K and up mark, but the cheapest there, the 348, can be had for less than half that.

Most of those are also incredibly different to drive and own, there's a huge variety in servicing costs. Which can out-do the cost of the car itself if you're not careful (as others have shown).

But, let's assume you already know this and can afford to keep a Ferrari as more than a garden ornament.

Owners themselves seem to prefer 308s to 328s (lighter, slightly prettier, slightly easier to maintain), 355s to 360s or 348s (355 apparently sounds and handles better than either), and the 456 and 550 are their own thing.

Personally, I've always liked the 348 - I love the 80s Testarossa-style slats covering everything, but it still has the same near proportions as the later 355. I also like the 360, which to my eyes is prettier than either.

OP with 4 posts claims to be buying a Ferrari.

And then never returns to the thread to see what people are suggesting.

It's looking a bit questionable, yeah. I'd like to at least see him return to this thread.

Guys if you're not willing to help the OP, at least help me....

I want a car to cruise around in, and take photos of to show off on GTP. However, if I meet a Toyota Camry 2.2 at the lights I don't want to be left in a trail of business class smoke.
Which would you reccomend:

1. Bugatti Veyron SS
2. Shelby SSC Ultimate Aero TT
3. Hennesey Venom GT

I just love all of them and I can't decide. :sly:

Meh, it's fun to speculate anyway, these are sort of classic 80s collector ferraris, its interesting to read what everyone thinks of them. What's weird is that he didn't give us the models, just the pictures, so you either have to recognise it or look it up (I'll admit I did have to look up 2 or 3).

Edit: @Guardian, definately the Veyron SS cardboard cut out, should take on a Camry 2.2 no problem ;)
