BTW, Revheadz, th 3S-GTE can fit in the AE86. I just don't recommend it. Quite a pain in the ass from what I've heard. The guy I know that swapped a 4A-GZE into his AE86 said it required some moving of stuff to fit that engine in the bay, so I can only imagine what would have to be done to put the 3S-GTE in there. The engine swaps I mentioned where direct swaps that only require minor fabrication. For example, the coolant hoses and housing need to be moved when swapping in the 20Valve into my MR2. You can shoehorn some crazy stuff into cars with a transaxle as well, since the legnth of the engine is not as much of an issue. So you can get a 3S-GTE to fit in a Tercel or MR2, but you still have to cut and hammer some crap out of the bay ;)

Cool, thanks for that.

In regards to lowering your car, be very careful. There are a ton of kits out there and some are crap. One good example is you've seen a lot of lowered cars that have that bounce to them. Those are cheap nockoff lowering kits. You will want to really do a lot of research on lowering kits and a good source for research would be some of those Club Sites

Not true at all, my truck bounces really bad mainly because it 3.5 inches lowered then it should be and thats on top of a 2 inch drop...so 5.5inch drop. You know why my truck bounces, really stiff shocks and minimal suspension travel. My kit was not cheap, it's Beltech which is the best out there as far as trucks are concerned. So no just because something bounces doesn't mean it's a hack job or bad kit.

Anyways on the subject of a FWD get a VW Corrado, hell M5 will even agree with me on that car. If you get it with the VR6 they are pretty quick and it's pretty unique. How many of them do you see on the road? Not many.

Blazin is right. I totally overlooked VW (JDM kinda guy, sorry), but VR6 cars are pretty damn quick. Corrado looks crazy as well.

True, bounce doesn't mean poor suspension. But it is bad for high performance driving, as tires lose contact with the road surface. 5.5 Inch drop is very very extreme, I would say thats for show only?

VR6 Corrado was a great car, handled so much better than the Golf it was based on. 👍

See this is why you need a VW guy in the conversation. But for those who don't know what a Corrado is....

There is also the older but equally as cool VW Scirocco...

Not all that fast but there are a zillion tuner parts for em. Actually just about any VW there are a tone of tuner parts.

Agreed I wouldn't want a car bouncing on me at high speeds, although NASCARs bounce all over due to overly tight suspension.

The drop is on a daily driver, the only problem I have is that I have to get it aligned about every 3 weeks.

What about a mk1/mk2 VW Golf Gti? Anything newer than that gets all bloated (mk3/4).

An 80s BMW 3 series? I'm not sure what the prices are like in the USA but they seem to be fairly cheap and reasonably plentiful in most places. RWD too.

Going back a sec about the 240sx. A lot of the models i see for sale on places like cars.com, all the 240sx's look like (from what -I- can tell) chev luminas... and i dont like that look at all. Do they look better in person? I wanted the hatchback/flipup headlights model, is that too old of a model? i think i saw a hatchback 1993, which is older than my current car, is it smart to buy something that old?

I was keeping an eye out on the streets and i saw a 240sx hatchback with a nice paintjob and muffler, it looked pretty good.

See, that's what I mean. I'm not sure if you selected the kit for your car, or if someone suggested that kit for your car. But it is obviously not suitable for it. That is the point I was making, you have to be careful in selecting a lowering kit that is suited for optimal performance of what you are wanting. Sic is wanting a little added performance, your truck is apparently for show, having poor performance. Not that it doesn't serve your dropped to the floor look you were after, but you did admit it doesn't function too well.

The older the car the higher the miles. When you start adding boltons to a high mile car it just increases the chances of engine failure.
As far as appearance, a 240 kinda looks like a late 80 to early 90 supra, kinda boxy backend, sloped front like a 280Z, wide stance, and a low profile. The older the model the more rigid the lines are.

i liked the ones I saw that were more of the boxy ridged looking ones. We currently have a 80's supra in our lot at work and i liked it a lot. Its 80's lookin but its still good looking. I'll have to see the 95+ 240sx's in person.

They don't really make a kit for a truck that adds handeling ability, however my truck handels better since I've dropped it. But it's by no meaning a poor kit. Beltech is highly regaurded as they best truck lowering components on the market.

The newer ones have more power though, and are a helluva lot more reliable and there are more options for them. You can pick up a Mk4 with a 1.8T or a VR6 for a good price.

Agreed in regards to the Beltech. My brother bought a high quality, top brand, suspension lift kit for his Ford Ranger 4x4, although it did get it way up there, it also cambered in the bottom of the front tires in. Upon further research he found out this was typical when using this well know kit. Most recommended a different kit to control the camber-in problem. With street applications you run into a similar problem with particular kits on particular applications, with a bad top camber-in problem with no way to adjust all of it out.

Can't you just get an alignment to correct the camber? Thats what I did after I lowered my truck. The wheels cambered out like a mother, but after about an hour on the alignment rack they fixed it.

I just searched thru some ads from dealerships and classified. I found supras in price range from 8k-40k.

Would it be a wise descision for me to also consider one of the early 90's late 80's supras if i can find one with below 100k miles on it? Im not too sure on anything about supras, but i didnt think they were that espensive either.

Supra Turbo's are very fast. The kill yourself kinda fast. 8 grand sound a bit high, post a picture of the years you are talking about, because you have me slightly confused from what models you are talking about compared to the years you are saying.

In regard to the 240SX, 3 major body styles existed, with convertable options coming in at some point.
240SX Coupe

(I could not find a USDM one, but the difference is they have pop up head lights like on the hatch models.)
240SX Hatch

And the newer 240SX

We have a TON of VW's at autocross events, its INSANE. Some wild looking Scirroco there as well, I should find a picture.

$8,000 for a 15 year old car seems to be quite a bit if you ask me.

Low milage, but I also say too much for the car. 2 grand less and if it was Turbo, I would say sure, simply because that is low milage, andits not common. But 8 Grand for an NA is too much...

Absolutely, I agree. The mid to late 90's models with the twin turbo are the one's I'd love to get ahold of. Most of my searches put them in the $20,000 range, which is kinda ridiculous in my opinion. But they are pretty awesome cars.
