My PS2 wont read any discs, it says "Disc Read Error". I have done some research and it looks like i need a new laser, does anyone else know about anything like this or know of a place in the UK where i can get it fixed.

It wont read my GT3, but the weird thing is, it reads my DVD Lens Cleaner Disc

How old is your PS2? is it one of the first few models?

As I said, it most likely needs a replacement lazer becauase the earlier ones have a limited lifespan and tend to die.

If it's under warranty go and piss sony off by phoning them and asking for a free repair. If not just go to those other websites I posted.

DMS3 chip is an all singing all dancing mod chip, i'm going to buy lots of expensive Japanese games (Yep when GT4 comes out in Japan i'll be playin it) :D and all sorts of other clever stuuf.

it will be 2 years old in October, so no Warranty, i really wanna play GT3

Do u think Game(The VideoGame shop) will repair them?

Ahh you have one of the older ones then.
Well it costs about £70 for whitedog to fit a new lazer to your PS2.

Whatever way it's gonna cost ya i'm afraid.

Edit: No Game are idiots, they wouldn't know how to repair stuff like that.

Some small gameshops do repairs, but you would have to ask around.

YES! ITS WORKING, THANX A BUNCH GUYS, NOW I CAN PLAY GT3 AGAIN! I got it working by reading a FAQ on GameFAQs (not the one Viper Zero gave me although thats how i found it, thx) there is another one on the site. If anyone has similar problems, check them out.

PS2's seem to have that problem a lot...

After cleaning the lens to no avail, i had to buy a brand new console.
