Help. Questions after losing my game save data

Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I know this is my 1st post but i have been a long time 'observer' of the very excellent website. Always had any questions answered by searching but now im stumped.

GT5 froze after doing the latest french drift trial seasonal, i left it for 5 minutes and nothing so i held the power button and prayed. When i rebooted and started gt5 it asked me if i wanted to use the back up data (didnt know it did that), for some stupid reason i hit no! OMG i realise i have lost all the game save info!

Last time i backed up my data was March '11! What an idiot!
Anyway i have decided i have to continue from where i backed up on usb a year ago.

Question i have is in my garage some of the car pictures dont appear in the garage list, the car is there i have checked but the image is missing from the car selection screen in the garage, can anyone shed any light on this please?

I will now back up my game save data every week, lesson learnt, fingers burnt.

I think presseing the triangle button over the car and selecting 'create thumbnail' will replace the picture. not 100% sure though.

When in garage, hit the triangle button to refresh thumbnails. You can do one at a time or ALL. Depending on the amount of cars in your garage, hitting ALL can take some time to finish.

Did you actually restart the game from your USB already? If so, the game has now most likely overwritten the backup it made after V2.06. If you didn't actually do it yet, you can delete the bad save and the game will use the backup file (the one on your hard drive, not the one on your USB) to create a new save.

I will try the triangle method on the cars.

Sadly i didnt know about the back up game save data thing after 2.06, i need to read this forum more.

Because i hit no about using that back up data, it overwrote it once i started gt5 and then logged out, i cant believe i hit no, what an idiot i am, i had over 800 cars and almost all gold licences. Got the game on day one.

Now i have 300 cars and lost all those rare standard cars

Never mind looks like i am going to be busy trying to build the game back up to where i was earlier today. All those perfectly set up cars i used online, gone.

Important lesson learnt with a game i enjoy so much, the only racing game worth owning!

Ah, bummer. Well, at least with the current Seasonals and the Performance bonus for using under-performing cars, you can certainly make credits and XP much faster than you did the first time around, so it shouldn't take you long to get back to where you were. 👍

Now, losing car tunings is a whole other thing and I can relate. I overwrote my gamesave with another of my accounts and I still haven't gotten a few of the cars to perform like they did before. Although, some of that might be the way they have changed certain physics along the way, too. Good luck!
