I've been trying to complete the "One Lap Challenge for Nurburgring & haven't been able to get the Gold Medal. Any advice anybody can give me would be great.

So what are you getting? It shouldnt be too hard to get bronze and even silver is doable. I beleive its 7'13".

You need to find time... anywhere on the track. I feel you, this one was super difficult for people who arent prodigies at the "ring.

I would be suggesting turning on all corner aids if it helps you visually. Bumper cam since the M6 is a fat pig of a car on a narrow track.

Stability on, ABS on, TC 2-3 and just be efficient everywhere.

I did not find learning each section to be useful since there's so many sections to remember.

I feel like I give up being good at the whole track but I feel like I'm terrific at maybe a quarter, acceptable in two sections and terrible at one.

Attack the sections you're bad at. I"m terrible at the first bit and that long 250km/h downhill section isnt super comfortable for me.

I can consistently get 7'05" but those last 7 secs is hell. I have a lot of sympathy for the 'normal folks' here because I spent years on many many simulators to get even passable at this so I maybe need another few months to get those last few seconds.

Maybe even post a replay so people here can pile on and tell you where you suck! Its the 'ring. Heaps of us arent at Sabine Schmidt's level.

Actually, I was gonna suggest TC off, use bumper cam, watch replay videos and practice practice practice.

Try to watch replays with telemetry on, so you can see exactly where to brake, where you can mash the throttle.

On a more advanced level, learn to trailbrake (look it up). With the new tyre model, it really works and makes up time to trailbrake.

I'm getting silver now but I wasn't sure if there was some setting that I can adjust (PS4 controller).

That good advice, Ill try that and let you i know. Thanks

Persistence.

Took me a week of attempts before I got it, including missing out by under a second twice.

I watched a couple of "just" gold runs on YouTube (6:54 to 6:57s) and noted the sector times so I would be aware of where I was as the lap progressed.

If I had 2 or 3 bad attempts in a row I'd target a couple of the sectors again before going back to try the lap.

Keep at it and it will click m8 - you'll know the course off by heart by the end of it too :)

Don't wanna sound like captain obvious, but you gotta keep practicing.

The thing about Nurburgring is there are lots of turns you can carry much more speed than you think at first. Keep doing it, and keep trying to find out where those sections are for you.

Since it's CE, you can go back to a specific section and perfect you drive on that section whenever you can before tackling the one lap challenge.

Learning how much speed you can actually take through the corners was the key for me, people tend to over-brakeon the Nordschliefe because of it's bumps, narrowness and fear of clipping the grass/kerbs but the BMW M6 can carry a lot more speed than you think and in many of the less severe corners you can get away with a simple lift off the gas or actually no slowing at all. I'd advise using whatever aids you feel comfortable with, going no TC on this track if you are not used to it will see you crash a lot because the kerbs and undulations are not friendly.

This is the lap I did back in November, a 6:54.591, I had TC at 2 and BB at +4. It's far from the cleanest lap (and I can probably now go 10 seconds+ quicker) but if you watch the use of the brake it may give you some tips as to the areas where you can actually carry a lot more speed than you may think
