I am looking around ebay for a nice, fun and cool car. I have 15000 to spend. id one to go under that and use the rest to put into it. I am interested in cars that have or could easily put body kits on or something like that. I DO NOT WANT IT TO BE A RICEBURNER!! Something that wouldn't have high insurance. I've been looking at some cheaper 350zs but those will have high insurance. Also something that is easy to work on. Something cool and cheap to have fun in. I do not want a project car. Just a car all ready to go(or very minor modifications and body kits) with good miles and thats reliable.
Thanks for your help- Carson

In before any mention of the Mazda MX-5 NA.

Maybe look around for suitable hatchbacks of some sort. If you save money on a cheaper modifiable one you can get extra mods for it...

Hi C-Zeta. Im not really looking for convertibles. I should put that in the op. Anything else you have in mind? Thanks for your help though!- Carson

...I never mentioned anything about convertibles, I recommended looking for some Euro hatchbacks. Like, say a Golf.

Still, at least you're blocking out any hope of the thread becoming a massive MX-5 meet.

Haha. Sorry i misunderstood. I actually have been looking into golfs but they are too small i guess for me.

We should make a sticky for these kinds of threads. It will start with a massive picture of an MX-5.

What are you going to use this car for? "Cool, cheap, and fun" is a fairly broad term.

Do you have a preference for a certain country's cars? Do you want a coupe or a sedan? Will you spend time modifying and working on it? Will you take it to a track?

Hello Zenith. I would use it about everyday hence reliability. What i want is something that is affordable (15000$), a fun somewhat powerful car and one that looks sharp. A coupe or sedan.

$15000 huh there's only one car I would buy in that price range and its the car I own a firebird Trans am ws6! It destroys most everything 0_60 4.9 seconds top speed limited to 167mph 24mpg highway 9mpg if you drive it! There's your answer period! Haha 350z what a heavy.underpowered car little v6 in a ton and a half church! Yea they look ok but wow there slow! (for the money anyway)

It goes without saying, take advice from people who actually know what they're talking about.

@OP: What do you think of the Marauder? $12K will get you a 300hp+ and a look that is absolutely diabolical. Spend the remaining money on exhaust, maybe a hotter camshaft, or just some black wheels.

Insurance should be low since it's a big American boat, no promises though.

Edit: Plus you can scare people into thinking you're a cop, especially at night.

Early 2000's Saab 9-3 Viggen. 225hp, Saab safety and reliability, and because Saab's depreciate like mad, you'd find one with decent miles for relatively cheap.

Haha, you know nothing do you?

Neither do I, but at least I'm not making useless suggestions and undermining very good cars.

You called? :sly:

No but really, I agree with the hatchbacks 👍 Go with something like: Golf, Civic, Clio, etc

What is the insurance like for the BMW 8 series and Mercedes Benz CL? They might make good purchases, if they aren't too much to maintain. Here's a nice CL, if you're interested.

How about a second generation (1998-2005) Lexus GS300?
lexus-gs300-gs400-front.jpg

Alright, alright, it's a Lexus, not the first word associated with performance. However, this, and the IS, are Lexus' sport sedans, and really, I hear that they do a good job at it. What's so great about the GS300 is that it has the naturally aspirated version of the Inline-6 found in the legendary MK-IV Supra. This means that if you so choose, you can get some pretty good power out of the engine if you add the right parts. Stock, it has 220 horsepower, not the best, but sufficient, especially for a first car. The transmission is a four speed auto, but you can shift it manually via paddles for a slightly sportier flavor. Also, being a Lexus, it's got all the good qualities that Lexuses are known for. For one, it's comfortable; my dad had one of these several years ago, and it was a very nice car to ride in. The interior is pretty good; it's not gaudy or dated or anything; it's timeless, in my opinion. Plus, it'll last forever; there's plenty of stories out there of these cars with 300k miles and more. So yeah, good powertrain with potential, good comfort and luxury, decent gas mileage too, and they're not too expensive, so finding a good one in your budget should be easy.
Hope I helped! :)

What? Is someone saying I don't know what i'm talking about when I own the car? I've read your list and the only comp I've seen is the m3 and m5 but that all depends on the year and you ain't getting a m5 That's faster than mine for $15000 and there limited to 155mph so yea in the long run I'd beat it! prove me wrong about one thing I said!.price speed 0_60 power ect prove me wrong

The Audi r8 the $150,000 super car the v8 version when it fist came out had a top speed of 188mph not limited and a zero to sixty time of 4.6 seconds so when my $17,000 muscle car is .3 and 21mph slower you cant argue that a freaking 300z is even.in the same ballpark end of story

I'm not sure where to start...

First off, your grammar suggests you are 11 and it also seems that you have an obsession with meaningless numbers that is typically seen in children. Usually these are children who's sole experience with cars is Need for Speed.

You know what, can you post a picture of a piece of paper with your username and "Hello GTP!" on the engine cover of your car? To claim you drive a Trans Am isn't exactly ludicrous, I just want to know if you're completely wasting the OP's time.

Even then, it might just be your dad's car that you're infatuated with...

Basically solves everything. Almost as fast as a 350Z stock, cheaper to insure, easier to work on, and far less attention getting. And back seat.

Depends on what you do with it...

^ What he says.

Or a 328i if you can't stretch to an M3. Still lots of fun, possibly even cheaper to run and insure, and even less attention-getting.

I tend to suggest Ford P71 in these situations too, since I'm denied them living in the UK which makes me want one.

Please OP though, don't go down the bodykit route. Completely goes against the whole "I don't want a rice-burner" thing.

I think pics are needed, otherwise he may need to be redirected to here.

How about the Lexus IS 200 or 300? Small, efficient, a Lexus so it will go to Hell and back like it was a commute, cheaper to maintain because you can source Toyota parts, and it's relatively easy to mod up without breaking bank.

Or if not, then a Subaru WRX around the 2001-2003 model years is another good buy.

What car is that? I Like it. And Thanks to all who Answered! very pleased and enjoy your help!

That is an E36 M3. Highly recommended by anyone who's ever owned/driven/raced against one.
