Try some of these threads, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out, I had this very same problem when I first got it, but it was so long ago I forget how to solve it. I think what I did was I plugged in the SharkPort to the PS2 and PC, and then turned both off. Then I started both back up, ran the SP program on the PC first, and then started up the PS2, inserted the CD, and reset the PS2, and it worked. I'm not sure if that is how I got it to work, but try it out. Anyways here are some threads where they have the same problem:

If you have just set it up for the first time, try turning the sharkport module around the other way. Sometimes they only work in one direction. Aside from that, make sure that it is connected to both the PS2 and your PC, and that the software is installed properly so that your PC recognizes the SP and has the proper drivers for it.

make sure you shut everything down (i do my computer also) any ways, once you shut down for the ps2 you can reset only with the X-Port disc, after that, nothing else or else you wont be able to do anything untill you turn off, and then turn back on. Putting you ps2 to "sleep" doesnt work.

I have a BIG Problem my sharkport disc crack when I tried to clean it does anyone know of a way to replace this without buying a new one.

No one does a sharkport any longer.

To get a replacement disc,
Call our support line (727)431-0650, or email support@dateldesign.com. A new Xport disc will be mailed out to you free of charge. Just tell them that you purchased a new PS2 model SCPH-50001 and can't get your old xport disc to work now.

Just a little note, make sure you say X-port and not Shark Port.
