Because 1000BHP is just the "in" thing with the kids these days
Now that we have the big Bugatti, Saleen S7, this Viper and the Gembella Carrera GT, I wondre what will have 1000BHP next. I'm guessing 1000 BHP Murcialego.

Hasn't Mr. Hennessy been making 1000+ hp Vipers for quite a while now (when the Bugatti was still in diapers)?

And there have been 1000 hp big block Chevys and Hemis since the mid-90s at least in all sorts of classic iron.

I really don't like the front end they've put on it. I quite like the looks of the normal Vipers but the new front grill looks a bit pants imo.

Besides that, I'm sure theres already been a thread or two on this car.

Theres been 1000bhp cars that are road legal since at least the early 80's. Bhp is nothing, it's reliability and how that power is put to the road.

Hennessey is actually only one of three 1000HP twin turbo Viper tuners. The other two are Heffner and Super Viper Systems.

I'm gonna say Corvette. Or more specifically, a Ligenfelter Corvette.

Yes.

We did.

:P

Just kidding.

I don't really care for the front, but if someone's got the money for one of those, they probably have enough for a regular front bumper.

I would only buy the body kit... I think it looks sleek and amazing. I wouldn't buy any other crap from him, the more stuff I buy, the more likely I will get ripped off!

The ride hight of that Viper is way too low, you wouldnt be able to get through even small dips without the front scraping the ground, I have enough problems with that in my car.

Yep, hennesey does a good job of ripping people off.

There have been 1000hp cars since 1930's. Also AMG and brabus have the ability to make 1000hp plus cars for several years now but they build each car seperately to the customers specification. They say the only reason why they dont build say 1500hp cars is because tyres are a limiting factor.

I think thats vipers sexy and mean. I wouldnt bother with the power upgrade however as its alreasdy a handful with out it and Im sure it will have a tad bit more lag than usual. Good for drag racing but not every day driving and circuit racing.

If only they tinted out the windows but yeah real nice looking car I have to say.

Guys, I don’t know you, but the only thing I think, when I see a car with 1000bhp, is UNCONTROLABLE (even with all the technologic devices).

Young_Warrior
Yes they were. Well they wernt but you could drive them on the road if you wanted to and where rich enough to afford one. No laws against it.
Well yeah, I suppose your right. There wern't many road laws at that time, what I should have said, is they were race cars.

I'd bet the TT system has been worked out well enough to not suffer from much lag.

He has kind of been doing this for years now.

I also admit that the bodykit SIGNIFICANTLY improves the look of the Viper coupe over stock...but as it stands, it's still just an absurd 1000 Hp curiousity, like the Veyron, and that rumored Mirage GT.

Except, unlike the Veyron, this probably isn't too much faster than the stock car is barring top speed, and, also unlike the Veyron, this doesn't exactly allude to class (though it does look good, most of that is because the normal Viper SRT-10 Coupe looks good). Not to mention the lack of any real warranty, or at the very least, the knowledge that you won't get screwed out of your money.

Yeah exactly with 8.3litres lag wont be a big issue at all. The thing will haul ass.

Hell I regularly go on drives with my friends 650+hp (safe tune, nitrous not used yet but connected) 2.0litre turbo 1985 Nissan Bluebird and the lag isnt as bad as most would expect it to be.

As for speed. Yup, it probably won't be much faster than a Viper in the 0-60. Considering you can do 60 in 1st gear and literally spin the **** out of the tires with an inopportune stab of the throttle. Vipers are already twitchy monsters on the road, I have no doubt another 500 hp would make them slightly less liveable.

And the mpg numbers on this conversion would be? 1 mpg at full throttle? (Oh, I KNOW turbos don't affect mileage numbers much... if you drive conservatively)

But my Uncle's Viper is just a few months old and they've already had to fix some electrical glitches, a broken serpentine belt, overheating, etc... and he doesn't even drive it that much... my Aunt uses it to commute to work. I am seriously skeptical that a TT Viper would make a liveable daily driver or long-distance GT with those kinds of issues.

Damn, I wish I had such cool friends. CA20 or SR20?
