hi im new, want to know about update

dam the shops closed now until monday.......:(

i might just cut this and swap the wires myself and resolder it, dont worry, i know what im doing, i do electronics at work everyday....
 
if you know what you're doing then go for it - you want to change the left and 2nd from left wires so you're going from 1234 to 3214

just had a quick look about the cables dosent look like its a straight swap over, oh well i might leave it, bloody thing, i tried for weeks to get the wifi max to work, couldnt, now this...geez who wants their ps3 online anyway....
 
Yep its gotta be a rj45 crossover cable or it wont work 👍

yay omg think it might be working, i just did internet test on the ps3 and it says, for the first time "succeeded" :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

and now says a system update is required, should i do that?

Be warned though the GT5P update can be a real pain.

oh right , this just says system software update required....
 
it needs the system update before it can join psn and find out it needs a game update. Don't sweat it tho - you'll be online and getting punted into the sandpits before you know it :D

When you start the game will/should tell you that an update is required.
 
The system update wouldn't show without the PS3 having internet access so looks like it has all come good in the end 👍 Nice one! :cheers:

i know, thanks guys, its up to 43% now so its working yay, been doing my head in this on how to get online....:):):):)
 
You'll have to sign up for the PSN network before you update GT5P though.

The hardest part there is choosing an online ID.
And then tell us who you are. :)

ok im just loading up gt5p...it asked when it booted up about signing in to ps network,..never done this before:)

well its taking weeks....and all i needed really was a cross over network cable, thanks to everyone on here who helped me today....

just plug the cable into the socket on the ps3 and on the rear of the pc, on mine anyway...i went into internet settings etc, and choose allow shared connection....thats its really.....

apart from that im having a nervous breakdown cos i never thought i was ever gonna get online with it....:crazy::crazy::crazy:



oh yeah just signed up etc, just waiting for an email, but i put my name down as

sammyhotshot.....:) incase you see me online...
 
You need to exit the game and register an account with PSN from the main menu. You'll need a valid email account and some idea of what you want to call yourself and thats about it - follow the instructions, fill in the boxes ... yadda yadda ... Robert is elevated to family status

im just restarting gt5 p and it says i need the update, so gonna try it, hope it works....

Go into News when that happens and it will restart from where it left off. The progress meter will restart but the actual download will continue.
 
the update has now worked...wow never thought it would happen....:):):):):)
