School was cancelled, but I still cycled in for my exam at 1, that was an experience! Went pretty good I thought, C2 is fairly straightforward.

School wasn't cancelled here as it was just fine powder. It almost looked fake.

I got a C in my History exam, which is a lot lower than what I was expecting. I was 1 mark from a B, and that's because I didn't answer the first question properly.

The Maths exam was solid. I'm not sure how hard the Foundation paper was, but the Higher paper was really hard. I completely guessed every single answer. Even the top set people struggled with most of the questions. I'll be surprised if I even pull off a U.

Remember this? :p

Watch your mouth. My daughter goes there. Just because you're a under achiever insulting them does not make you better.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I've had loads of tests that have seemed ridiculously hard, but when I get the results I've done way better than expected. Generally if the test is hard, they lower the grade boundaries, on my Science mock exam you only had to get half marks for an A*, and most people said it wasn't very hard. :)

Just finished my Science GCSE's, and I think I did OK, fingers crossed for good results! Now I'm starting Additional Science...

Do you do linear maths or was this a mock?

Why do Americans call it math, without the 's'? :p

Because we do one type of math at a time in a class. For example, geometry, algebra, calculus. Those are all names of math classes singular.

But the full word is mathematics...
Canadians do it too, IMO the work "maths" sounds retarded.

"I can maths."
To me, math sounds silly.

I don't really want to have a full blown argument about the pronunciation and origin of words, so can we just accept we say it differently? :)

We say "I can do maths" actually. :p

No I can't do maths actually, but that's not the point. The point is just the way my pants are rubbed up.

But each country has their own way and each way does make sense, next I have math. Next I have maths. I think math is a result of Americans generally shortening words, because here we say honour, they say honor, colour color.

I've always seen it as a commodity, as in you can't really say 'waters' or 'sadnesses'. Similarly, you don't pluralize Math. The only time I would is in the sentence "Of the many maths, I am learning calculus."

"I am good at one type of mathematics." = "I an good at one form of math."

I really find these slight differences in the way we say things interesting.

I wish my school had classes about the origins of language where we would learned about how new languages start.

We would say of the many topics in maths we are learning geometry etc.

Anyway. What is the chances on people getting Monday off in the UK?
Pretty high for me, it's supposed to snow all through tomorrow here.

I'm glad I have off on Monday for now. Basketball practice is TBA and I'm hoping we don't have practice. I'm so tired of going to school at 7am and not coming home until 6 or 7pm. I guess I want to stay home and enjoy it.

I missed one day this week and everything happened to fall on that day. I had a writing assignment due on that day, a writing prompt to do during English class, a test of History, and a new lesson to learn for a quiz the next day for Geometry. I don't know how all of that happened but everything besides one thing has been completed so far. I still have to hand in the writing assignment.

About that math and maths thing. I feel silly saying maths since I only take one course of math. I kind of understand why brits say maths but it still feels so wrong to say.

Got a 100 on my 100 Question Social Studies Midterm which was from the Scientific Revolution to World War I

Our teachers are on some sort of strike so we odnt have any extracurriculars. All they do now is get to school 5 min before bell rings, teach, and then leave 5 min after bell rings.

Had to walk a mile to school only to find it was closed then had to walk a mile back home, in a blizzard, in ankle high snow. :grumpy: Then when I got home I found my mum had got a text from school ONE HOUR before I left saying it was closed, I'm a cold and unhappy bunny now.

At least your school was closed. Mine was open. There were a lot of snowball fights though which were fun. Year 10's v Year 11's in the central courtyard at lunch. Really fun.

Yeah budddyyyy got a full week off. Friday and Monday I had off anyways for conference's/holiday's. But the other 3 days they had state testing and I passed all mine last year so I was not required to show up =P

Next week is exam week for us, and since I only have 1 class with an exam this year (English) I go Tuesday at 9 and then have the rest of the week off, except Friday. Everyone has to go Friday because that's when the new semester starts. :ouch: The school always does something dumb like that, might as well just give us that day off.. I mean.... c'mon.

Yeah man our school usually has cockamamie setups like that. I just happened to get lucky since I finished them all last year.

I'll cut to the chase, I had a mini fight today. More of a bit of a rage than anything.

Basically after being whitewashed (for anyone that doesn't know that's being completely covered in snow) and when my glasses had iced over one of my friends stopped it because obviously it was gonna go too far, that pissed me off seeing as it was about the 3rd time that day. But a 'pre-friend' whom I've come to hate was about to dump a massive load of snow over my head, my friend stopped him though and I turned round and said "Dump that on me and I'll kill you" so obviously he did... I don't make false threats when I'm pissed off.
I chased him, took him down and clamped his head between my legs and just kept him there for a short while till my friend came over to break us up, I released as soon as he grabbed the other guy... I wish I'd kept him there tbh. :indiff:

You may think overreaction and you're probably right but I have an extremely short temper and he knows it yet he still did it and was surprised I reacted at all. This guy is just an arse in general though.

So yer I hope you all had a more peaceful day than me. :D I just needed to rant somewhere and where's better than the internet.
