Joystiq has the first trailer.

No gameplay footage and, as Joystiq pointed out, the line, "Others may lose their heads in battle.." is lame.

Basically, the concept is an awesome one as you can have a sword fighting action/adventure game throughout different time periods and places on Earth. But at the same time it can be ruined in so many ways.

I am excited, but worried at the same time.

Maybe I don't get it, why is it called Highlander when it doesn't take place in Scotland? The guy on the box cover has a katana of all things.

I thought everyone knew that Christopher Lambert is a Scotsman, and Sean Connery is a Spaniard!

Oh I fail, I didn't realise it was a movie...ignore me.
And a TV show.

Oh, the difference eight years can make. Granted, Highlander did come out before you were born. I suddenly feel extremely old because for me it is one of those science fiction classics. I was seven when it came out.

To sum up, it is called Highlander because the main character(s) is from the Highlands of Scotland. He is an immortal and is drawn by the Quickening to the final showdown, known as The Gathering, between immortals who can only die by having their heads cut off (so, mostly immortal). That explains said katana, and in the movies we see it is given to him and has been folded over 300 times. When an immortal cuts the head off of another immortal he gains all of their strengths, knowladge, and abilities. There can be only one and the winner will get "the prize."

In the movie we had Conner MacLeod (Christopher Lambert). In the TV series we follow a member of the same clan born 100 years later, Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul). The game seems to be taking a clan member born much earlier than Conner.

Oh, and there were actually four movies.
The first two co-starred Sean Connery (but everyone ignores the storyline from Highlander 2, because it tries to make them out to be aliens). The third co-starred Mario van Peebles. And the fourth tied the TV series to the movies and featured both Conner and Duncan.

So, to sum up, immortals that sword fight throughout history in hopes of claiming the final prize.

Oh, I almost forgot, there is one rule: Fighting on holy ground is forbidden.

And all fans of the movie and series know that it is not a Highlander story without at least one song by Queen.

Do yourself a favor and watch the first movie. Just the first and then maybe the TV series, but do not try and make a link between TV series and movie. Just imagine them being two completely different stories with similar storylines.

Wow, age is no excuse. I watched reruns of the TV series all the time on USA.

And I agree with some of the comments on the link, I would love to see the movie soundtrack on this; as far as I know, there has yet to be a video game with a good selection of Queen's music.
