The HKS R33 Drag car tops out around 180 mph. That is about where the gearing is set to.
Yes it is 4WD, BUT they also use a manual 4wd torque split controller. This allows various amounts of pressure to be applied to the front wheel clutch packs. Thus also when they want to heat the rear tyres up they run 0% front wheel torque and the car is 2wd or RWD only.
The car also uses custom HKS developed turbos 35-40's. These have much larger exhaust housings than the previous 32-40's that are avialable to the general public. These development turbos are not for retail sale yet but will be soon. Our HKS importer here in New Zealand gets quite a bit of inside information from the HKS head office in Japan.
Another developement is the trick air shifted gearbox. Though it is still a lever it is not mechanical.
The cars best run to date is 7.671.
