I might have a stab at this as well when time permits if that's possible?

I'd like to drive the Elan too.

Okay chaps, I have you all marked down. TheCracker, you can have that second Elan, I don't mind at all. ;)

Cheers,

Greetings All Ye Motorheads and Demons Of Speed!
At Jetboy's kind invitation, I will be representing the geriatric set with the legendary 1954 Mercedes 300SL. Be observant in your mirrors! 'Tis I gaining on you!

Greetings Fellow Knights,
I cometh before this esteemed assembly, humbly presenting my times for the Deep Forest contest.
In spite of the advanced years, of both car and driver, methinks the overall time is respectable. Total time, best lap:1'31.966.
Upon achieving this lap time, my curiosity took me to my stable, whereupon I took my 1954 Benzo, and modified all possible elements.
Watching this magnificient machine in replay mode, was enlightening! The sunlight flashing off the steel skin of my Pearl Green gem, as it rushed through the forest, was visual testimony to the magnificience of this gentlemans Grand Tourer. I had lowered the suspension settings to rock bottom, tweaked the camber, and set off. The handling was immediately improved and I was able to brake much later, with just a manageable amount of tail happiness. The power out of the corners was crisp, the exhaust note, melodious!
As to be expected the time difference was vast 1'20.615 for my best lap. But the joy of piloting both vehicles was equal.
Once I am able to decipher the USB storage device, my fair lady hath acquired for me, I will post the replays.
I look forward to the next leg of this contest with anxious anticipation,
Until Then,
I Remain

Aren't we supposed to be in arcade mode, where you can't adjust the settings? Or am I being a n00b?

nope, we are in arcade and the only T times are discussed.

I think Fangio just compared the times between arcade mode and gt mode, with the same car, but fully tuned in gt mode. The total time shouldn't appear in this thread though...

My Appologies Assembled Motorized Knights,
I indeed compared Arcade to Simulation,
T Times were (In Arcade)
T1-26.148
T2-57.201
Weight-1165 kg.
HP-233
I am somewhat unfamiliar with the protocol of this format, I hope this is more acceptable,
Yours Chagrined
Fangio

Let's see if I can provide some valuable help... :indiff:

I can't confirm HP and weight of your car, because I haven't unlocked it yet or at least I haven't seen it in the Mercedes section, but you should set it to this values:

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (+10% Power, -10% Weight.)

If so, everything is ok and your times are eligible. Remember to use Road Tires and please post your T-Times in this thread:

Homologation Road Cars Tourney: Round One

Exactly.

Fangio, there is no possible way that you got that time in arcade mode with the prescribed settings for that car, unless Corey set it wrong.

(by that time, I mean the 1'20 - the 1'31 I believe)

I can confirm Fangio12151956's numbers for power and weight are indeed correct, but the T times? No way.

On the correct N3 tyres, split times after only a couple of laps are in the same arena as the rest of those posted in the Race 1 thread.

Out of curiosity I took to selecting SM tyres that the car would come with stock. Even on those setting a T1 of 26s is impossible.

I think he has made an error in his transcription and given us the T Times for his simulation mode run in the fully modified version.

*edit* Out of curiosity, I also ran a couple of laps on Deep Forest Reverse using the correct power & weight settings and SM tyres. After only a 2 laps, I was able to see T1 of 26.xxx and T2 of 58.xxx.

Is it possible fangio12151956 that perchance you are running with the wrong tyres and making circuits in the opposite direction to the rest of us?

I'm out. Probably permanently lol. Got home from the movies today to find that my lovely husky had managed to pull all the cables on all the electronics that sit on top of my dresser, which includes my PS2. Needless to say, my PS2 wont read any ps2 games since it fell from about 5 1/2 feet. I'll try and get it working again but if not, I'm not investing in a new one.

:scared:

Gotta watch my two cats from now - their interest in the PS2 is already sparked when the controller-cable is moving.

does that mean the end of your playstation 2 racing days??? darky... that would suck man, you're always one of the good challenges in all the comps and would be sorely missed:indiff:

I'll squeeze you in for the next round man. :) Welcome.

Cheers,
Jetboy

Could I maybe get on this? Just noticed it and its summer, so I have some free time now.

I would like to be in the Toyota Celica GT-FOUR RC '91 (ST 185 I believe).

Thanks, and if its too late, thats fine too :) But let me know if you do this again then ;)

Hey, it's open table. If you want in, that's awesome! But you'll be starting with default zero points.. So just as a forwarning.. :) But yes, any competition is welcome. 👍 Round Six can be found in my signature.

Alright, lady, gentlemen... This happily successful series has drawn to its close now and wile its number of participants have dwindled slightly over the weeks, it hasn't waned in its fun. Or as I was let known. Jimmy won a rather heady six of the nine events, and his score reflects that consistency pays off. Notice that a few positions here and there swapped, most noticeably the tie for second place and Azevedojose's drive up to 4th!!

Speaking of which: What did you guys think of the points system? Was it alright? Do you think the series itself could have been run better or...?

Any comments or criticism welcomed. :D

Cheers,
Jetboy

I've loved participating in this series. Thanks for setting it up for us 👍 You've done a good job, with results being posted on time. +rep well deserved!!! I look forward to enter your new series.. Let's see if I have time to spare, since I'm starting my finals soon. :nervous:

I'll do my best to. :)

Thanks for a well run competition Jetboys

I didn't get the time to run as many rounds as i wanted and although the Elan was great fun, i think i'd pick something a little quicker next time.

Hey, I'd be keen to join in the next one, can I run my own car? Skyline GTS-R? I actually have a GTS-X, but the R is close enough. If you are just about to kick the next series, I'll wait till the one after, so I can observe this one and see how it rolls.

First i wanna thank Jetboy for this great competition.
Congrats to jimeez for the win:cheers: and to Jetboy and Sammi for the podium places:cheers: and all the other racers .👍

I want to say thank you all for the positive comments and lets hope my next one is just as well done!

Cheers,
Jetboy

Squire Corey,
A most excellent endeavor! grateful to have been able to show some of these young lions, that there are few old dogs out there that can at least show well!
I am scoring my own series at the moment, but sign me up! I will select a steed shortly!
Gratefully
Fangio
