What is the difference between the '97 and '98, and does the better one tune wall, and is it a good starter?

Thanks

Anything is a good starter.

I was really disapointed with the civic type r, even though it is FWD, for being able to run 350hp and weighing so little it really was a dog.

Same here, BHC. Handled like a tank.

That's because small FWD cars like the civic aren't meant to have 350 HP. Since I own a civic I can tell you at 127 HP it handles nicely with no major problems. Add 75 hp and slap a Type R badge on and you're pushing the limits of a car designed for commuting. Add on another 150 hp and you've gone way beyond what the car was designed for. Try the Integra Type-R, its newer and better at handling high hp figures. 👍

It has the same handling, the difference is only the exterior bumper, headlight, etc..

My CTR is pushing 208 hp and nitrous and it handles great.....just that its underpowered.

I know that the Gathers and Motul old school civic are awesome Lil Rockets!

I think the DC2 Integra Type-R would be a better alternate.

Hi guys,

like everyone else, I was also pretty disapppointed with the 98 CTR in the game. Then again, its really one of those hot hatches that are suppose to give a good driving experience, not sheer acceleration or outright power. Like someone had mentioned, the driders and motul civic are nice rides, even in the "stock" form. I guess when driving the 98 CTR or the Spoon CTR, one should just appreciate how easy the car handles and brakes, keeping the revs high since max. torque occurs almost at redline. Thats really the joy of the car.

For the record, I drive one of these 1.6l 185hp rated hot hatches in the real world and I can assure you guys that in the flesh, its exhiliarating at any circuit you put the car, be it an F1 track or your weekend circuit.

The Civic Type R is a very good start car. Mine handled like a dream and tuned with full weight reduction it smoked everything at the beginning of the game. I used it in both honda races, sunday, FF, clubman, and the first 2 special events. Pretty decent bang for the buck at the start of the game.

i need to try and see if there is a way to turn off the pit stop menu that takes you from going three times the speed to live view??? anyone?

it seems like when i go to pit it turns to live view and doesn't go back to 3x??

A later model SiR II would be a better choice if you want to start out with a Civic.

1993-1995

Then if you find you like front wheel drive, move up to a 98spec ITR (1998 DC2).

250 horsepower will only take you so far though.

Any more than that on a FWD car is just excessive and detrimental to its drivability.

I started with a Trueno btw..

holy christ, how can you possibly call a real CTR a commuter car lol.

the CTR may have won more international races than any car i can think of off hand, right now there kicking the asses of bmw, audi and the like in the eurogt

what you may be be comparing it to would be the countless ricers that slap stickers and rice cans on there cars, which i hate more than anyone since i drive and race a 02 civic. after you dial out all the body roll and understeer, its hard to find a car under 50 grand that can outhandle a properly tuned civic or rsx.

thanks guys, im going to buy it as soon as i get the game, just, can you let me know what color are the Civics available at day 1?

well said. real time racing was kicking ass for a couple of years in their integras and then moved up to the rsx and is still kicking ass. but for me i started with the DC5R (02+ integra R) and a 98 CTR. both great cars but i prefer the handling of the integras. plus you can get more power outa them.

I dought the CTR win count is anywhere near the 911's.

The CTR is a good fwd car. Like LaBounti said, any car is a good starter car. You really should not need to buy a car. Just use the prise cars.

One of the best FF starter cars is the Honda Integra-R. This thing will tune like a dream. Once you get all of the basic HP tunes and look into turbo/supercharger/extreme N/A, look out for wheel spin and understeer. I was able to manage understeer with good throttle control, but I have a habit of slamming it to the floor when hitting the apex. "Bad 1st and 2nd wheel spin"
The '87 Civic Motul Race is incredible. I've ran the first 2 circuits in the Special Conditions (overkill), and a few other series, and man was I impressed.

i started out with a dc2 ITR 95 spec. it was kick ass! the stock suspension was amazing, and after i switched to the fully customizable suspension, i immediately went back to stock. in its stock form, i beat a good number of races including the type r races (4 out of the 5 races there was an NSX in the batch, and i still won with my underpowered stock DC2) with it and man, i must say that car was fun to drive. brakes were excellent, power was great for a starting car, and its definitely a great car to start with. but beware, dont slap a turbo on it or give it serious power mods. itll feel like crap

CTRs are great also, ive got a stock ek in my garage that i race every so often in arcade mode.

All the Type R models are really good, like the Integra Type R. The ITR is very fast (even if it's stock). It has a lot of torque. Try stock ITR or CTR.

Buy the Spoon tuned CTR and ITR for 75,000 each. I bought them because I'm a Honda nut... and because I own a Honda.. also for the looks. Performance wise... they're not that great.... but it's still fun to drive around and take snap shots with those cars. I'm really glad they put these cars in the game, I'm not disappointed at all. This was a move by the game developers to reach all the Honda fans out there... not the 'I need 600hp car that handles like a F1 machine' video game fans.

Also I have the Honda s2000 LM race car, Amuse s2000 GT1 and R1 car, and on getting the JGTC race NSX's next. :scared:

i also forgot to mention, the CTR has drop throttle oversteer, just like in real life 👍 :dopey:

The Civic Type-R is a great car for beginners and advanced drivers. I love mine. It's tuned to the low-mid 200 HP range and it is kicking, provided you find a good suspension setting. I am not in the habit of tuning my cars to the max like a lot of people, actually I rarely like to buy full racing equipment for my cars because I like to keep them as realistic as possible. Who fully tunes a Civic anyway unless they are hardcore and know what they are doing. As for ITR users or people who are looking to use one, make sure to get a full racing tranny and reset the gears to stock settings. PD seems to have screwed that up. Once you have that done, the ITR can handle up to 300 HP without any hiccups, again, provided that you know how to tune it right. Good luck all! 👍

well, just to make things clear, i am starting out with 10.000 cr because im not importing the GT3 data, and what colors do they come in?

What's everyone's opinion of the Prelude? How does it stack up against CTR's and Integras, etc. ? Just trying to make some decisions on a starter car. :nervous:

I bought a used ITR and a bit dissapointed that I am not doing too well in the FF beginner races. I should have kept it stock because I wasted a lot of money puttin mods into the car. Its at 380+ hp with a turbo but it doesnt really feel all that fast. It could be my crappy driving, so Im going to play with it some more tomorrow.

All these people talking about the hype R need to realize, you put any kind of real power in a FWD, and your just going to induce horrible understeer on any partial throttle corner. You change the handling aspects dramatically when you throw that much horsepower at a "track" car.

Also, honda's aren't that great at all, just wait till you buy a car thats beyond honda and youll see just how great vehicles can be.
