I will just say this about Honda's...I ask anyone what other car can you buy (mine 97 Civic hatch) for under 10k, then drop another 6-10k into it and have a car that will smoke an SVT Stang in th 1/4?

I have heard the excuse of "That guy just couldn't drive that Mustang thats why he lost."

Whats the sticker on that SVT anyway...how much money do you have to wrap up in her to get to the big show?

Much love to the Tuners...ya got my back!
HILARIOUS, ill end this now.
you fixed up an economy car, so yes it may be fast but still its an Economycar. You cannot polish turd sorry :(

Its not even a comparison, the civic has a history of being an economy car, while the mustang has history of being a pony car.

and that SVT comment is the stupidest thing ive heard for the week. 👍
Handbuilt 4.6 v8 supercharged SVT Cobra > Civic, integra, s2000, rsx, type R, Prelude, Accord, TL, TSX, SI, vtech, type sh, SIR, type S, FWD.

in reference to the shifting between an itr and an m3, aren't the gearboxes by the same company?

f1: both honda and ford had dominated in the past. honda in 1988 winning 15 of 16 races with its turbo engine - i think the most dominant season for honda/mclaren. ford, on the other hand had 30yrs (i think) of gp winning cars with its DFV v8 engine.

ricers just tarnish wat is actually a good engineering company.
and don't think that ford or watever non-Japanese car manufacturer is safe either. i'm already seeing neons and stuff on holdens and fords here. no 1 car company is safe

Just because Ford has won GT/LM races in the past doesn't make their production cars any better.

Once a Ford always a Ford.

No amount of modifications could fix that.

lol thats like saying a srt4 is cool.....ITS NOT ITS A ****ING NEON GUYS

Hi!

Nice Thread!!!

My First Car was the Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg ZR. I drive a Colt (the Mirage Cyborg is called in Germany) in RL.

It was a little bit cheaper than the CTR. It cost 400 Bucks less... So you can do an OIL Change direct after the buy!

It is still FUN to drive. Because it is under 4000 mm long you can race the "compact" Races with it. I tuned mine to about 210 PS.

Have FUN

I think RWD is better than FWD. But...I think ford and Mustangs are garbage. You ask me what car I want when I'm about to enter a downhill turn at 90 MPH, and I'll take the civic any day.

Mustangs(from the factory) are good for 1 thing, driving in a straight line.

Ummm....SVT? I remember a few years back where an SVT mustang was slow as shiet, it was the 4.6. It was the years where the Big Bad V8s were making less than 300HP, that's from a 4.6L V8! What sad engineering is that! And the new 05s, Saleen in one of their packages that was recently reviewed by one of the magazines, after paying a few Gs more for a body kit and exhaust and pulleys too I beleive, it's only a rediculous.1 seconds faster than stock, pretty damn full of performance huh, that's what you would call domestic rice! From experience, pre 05 Mustangs minus the Mach 1 has the most terrible transmissions. You will get lost in it, no precision what so ever! If you consider a mustang a full on sports car like you preach, I gotta tell you right now, it aint cause the tranny is well below par! If you wonder why I argue the transmission point so much, well, because alot of the pure driving experience is felt through your upshifts and downshifts. Shifting and having control of the power of the car is the whole point of enjoying the drive. Until recently if you wanted a good drag car out of the box, you would by an F-Body, not a mustang. Don't get me wrong, I do like some mustangs. A friend's mustang mach 1 with a basani full exhaust sounds absaloutley awesome. He has a few other mods and runnin low 12s, and the shifter was one of the things he fixed first. Dude you give me a choice between a Mustang and an S2000 for free, I'll give you 5 grand for giving me the S2000! No it's not faster in the quarter, but it's a hell of a lot more fun driving and the sound of a machine at 8,000 - 9,000 RPM is just more fun. Plus the fact that it's a honda, I know it wont be F ound O n R oad D ead.

I appologize for getting off subject, but I hear mustang lovers trying to down Hondas much too often, when the truth is, they are most likely in the lower end of V8 performance and reliability. If I'm going to buy a performance oriented domestic car, it'll come from General Motors in the form of a Vette or a Camaro.

Awesome, show me a video of you doing a 90mph down hill turn in your civic, other wise dont talk, mustang > civic

i have NO idea why you and all these other ricers cant see that, yea if u dump enough money into anything it can be fast, but in the end it still SUCKs.

and you serisously think anything on the other side of the NSX, from honda can beat the '03-'04 cobra? DREAM ON, the '03 cobras were meant to perform and handle as good as the '00 Cobra R, but this time they have back seats, radio, power windows/lock/seats.

Saleen is not ford and ford is not saleen, last time i check Saleen made bad ass cars specially ones that'll trample ANYTHING from Japan.
And from experience you havent experienced JACK, a Mach 1 is below the SVT Cobra, its not even the same, other then body, one has: IRS, brembo brakes, 6 speed, supercharger.

Now show me ANY HONDA that when it first came out already got a 1-2 finish in racing that also offers that same car @ their dealerships nationwide.

And aside from the Mach1/Cobra i consider those sports cars, they push enough grunt and they can move, but saying any honda below nsx/s2000 are sports cars? must be smoking some good stuff.

just shut the **** up. this is a GT4 forum, not Japanese vs American cars. leave it be, jesus christ.

SVT Snake, you disgrace the GTP forums. after about a week of browsing these forums, its safe to say that this forum sucks because of the people that come here.

Can we end this domestic vs import quarrel and return to the topic at hand already?

BTW, I haven't been able to drive any CTRs, but has anyone compared the Spoon CTR to the regular one?

Yeah drop the arguement. Although there's been alot of good points made I think svtsnake is too strung up on his Mustang to realize that both cars have their faults and their strong points.

BACK ON TOPIC:
When my friends and I first started we bought a cheap 90' CRX. Thing was fun as hell, felt like an oversized go-kart. In my personal game I bought a cheap EG Civic SIR. Pretty good choice in my opinion, cheap, won me alot of races, and overall was alot of fun to drive.

This is my last post to this thread just so I can spare the rest of the forum members any more ignorant and discriminant comments from you. Integra Type R, Civic Type R, NSX-R and S2000 all did and still will bring home top ranks in any race in their class. Trample anythign in Japan huh? I think not, it will not hold a candle to Supra RZs or Skylines, or NSXs in a road course. By the way, the horspower is limited to upper 200HP from the dealer in Japan and can be uncaped very easily and make well over 300 stock! The cap has either now been lifted or will be soon. Those cars I just mentioned are either Turbocharged Inline 6s or a V6. Hell a lancer EVO and an STI Impreza will leave your mustang way behind in the turns, and will rediculously pull on you from a dig! And those are turbocharged I4 and Boxer motors. It's pure disgrace in your part that your comparing a car with twice the cylinders and more than two times the displacement to an inline 4 1.6-1.8L! Your comment about about putting in money into anything to make it fast and still be crap in end, goes for your SVT also. You can put in whatever you want to in your SVT Stang or whatever and in the end it'll still be a Ford! Pure ignorance! And experience? I attended SCCA autocross competition every month for two years, and attended open track events at Texas World Speedway numerous times driving anything from Miatas Civics, to S2000 Mustangs and on one lucky occasion a Porsche 911. Judging by your close mindedness and discrimintation, I doubt you've had any in the seat time in sports cars, or sport coupes or roadsters. Oh and the reason why the best of Japan aren't making it state side, is pure politics to keep money in the domestic market. Given the choice whether to buy a Turbocharged Inline Six making the same power or more as a Mustang and still getting better gas mileage and more reliable, which do you think would the consumer purchase? Especially with today's gas prices! I never said the Civic or Integras were sport cars, I just implied that they are able to perform well, obviously you took that defensively! You put your mustang so high up on a Pedestal it's ludicrous! At first you said nothing from Honda is worh lookin at but the NSX now you include the S2000, that's funny. It's funny cause the motors that come in the Civic Si, Civic Type R and Integra Type R, is what started it all for the S2000 and NSX motors. THe B16A motor was first introduced in 1989, first VTEC motor was in 1989 and it was used till 2000 for the Civic Si. That innovation after tha paten expired were used by Ferrari, Toyota, Nissan, BMW Porsche and Mitsubishi. Yea the Mustang has grunt, I don't doubt that. But Ford in terms of technological advancement, has none. It's the same old if you want more power make a bigger motor or put a blower on it! Where's the innovation in that?

Anyways I appologize to everyone else in this GT board forum. You will not hear anythign else from me in this matter. Back to your regularly scheduled GT playing and forum postings.

Wrong. Look at the topic, notice how it says Honda Civic Type R? And notice how you were participating in the Import Vs. Domestic battle about which he was talking about? Just in case there's still confusion that means that you were off topic and that he can complain about it.

Nicely spaced paragraphs would have been nice.

1: nothing from Japan will beat an S7 in a road course, the S7 is in the leagues of Enzo and Carrera GT so i stand with my statement.

2: Given that Evos and STi's are so great, yes they are I4/boxer4 with turbos and some how a supercharged v8 gets around the same gas mileage, so that gas point is VOID. :(

3: i have been attending autocrosses since i was 16, and now im 20, so as far as experience goes, i have done what you have done and then some, autocrossed datsun 510, and SVT contours. I also do karting every weekend so tell me how bad ass autocross is when you cant go full speed on banked turns 1'' from the ground?

4: Same old Ford tech? the Modular 4.6 has been in development for 10 years, and who uses that 4.6 block? the Koenigsegg CC8/CCR, now show me a supercar that just broke the topspeed record using a Honda motor?

5: Mustangs although some are ****ty are worth more than any honda out there, show me a classic honda and i can show you a classic 427 boss mustang worth more.

6: To even argue about the 2 is hilarious the other has been around since the 60's and they are now considered classics, and the other came out in the 90's and requires TONS of money to even move.

7: A '93 Cobra SVT can be bought for around 5k, and with 6k into the car it can hit sub 9's, show me a honda that can have 6k into it to run 9s.

8: wheres the innovation in putting a FI into a motor that responds well to FI?
well lets see, you've mentioned some of them so ill fill you in on innovation.
Skylines
Supras
Rx7s
300zs
Vr-4s
S13s-14s-15s
STis
Evos
And thats just Japanese
E55, CL55, CL65, SL55, SL65, SLK32, SLK55, CLK55, S55, S65
Ferrari F40
Jaguar XJ220
Veyron
Koenigsegg cc8/ccr
but thats just to name a few
all those use FI, so wheres the innovation in that? and notice how all of those are non-front wheel drive based?

yaaa all motor baby!
Do you actually think Ferrari would stick with N/A if they could use turbos in F1, or any other type of racing?
Did you know the fastest cars in the world are supercharged?

crazy

dingdong, i edited my first post because it was uncalled for, but mugenpower decided to talk trash about both Ford and Toyota.

Mustangs are dawgs, at least most of them. Especially their automatic transmissions, and I've read it doesn't get much better with the new '05. With a few modifications they can be quick, but only with a good driver.

And a Civic was born an economy car, so if you up it to 350+hp on the stock chassis/rear end, it won't do what you expect.

svtsnake, this thread is about a CTR in GT4. i had a personal experience with it, so i posted. is it wrong of me to click on it and read through the last 2 pages after my response?

this thread is a huge OFF TOPIC ARGUMENT and svtsnake needs to GIVE UP AND LEARN THAT ARGUING OVER THE INTERWEB IS RETARDED. just give up dude, theres no point in wasting your breath.

to those who attempted to get this back on topic; thank you very much. its jsut too bad that svtsnake is such a big old sack and wont let an argument about a car go!

typical jetta owner :(
alright its been dropped, but any more bashing from an almighty civic owner, then well you'll get a response

sorry fi im trying to get this thread back on topic.

thank you, for ONCE in this whole thread, for not complaining about how fords are better than every other car.

old sack never said that :(

ill test out a civic for you guys and give u my settings, i also need to check if there is a civic with a black hood.

Since this thread couldn't be kept on topic, it gets locked down.

If it were to stay open, the conversation would inevitably revert back to the same discussion only between different people.

So it's time for everybody to forgive, forget and play nice. Or I won't.

*click* Done.

Please, lets avoid discussions like this in the future. If you wish to discuss the finer points of American Engineering VS. japanese Engineering, the opinions forum is a much better place. Don't expect to rant and rave without facts to back up your opinion though.
