They get the job done. You need to have a fwd car in the game, so why not a Honda?

In the real world fwd is a pain and I will never buy another fwd for any reason other than an a-b car. I had a SRT-4 and once you get it up past 275 or so hp it is not fun to drive every day. Once I returned it back to stock to trade it in, I started liking it agian. But by them I had wasted so much money on the car I just didn't want it any more.

I started with a Skyline GTS-T type M. You can find it in the early 90's dealer for about 7,000 and I did the rwd cup and whatever the first cup is without doing a single modification to it, save for an oil change. All used cars come needing one at purchase.

All these people talking about the hype R need to realize, you put any kind of real power in a FWD, and your just going to induce horrible understeer on any partial throttle corner. You change the handling aspects dramatically when you throw that much horsepower at a "track" car.

Also, honda's aren't that great at all, just wait till you buy a car thats beyond honda and youll see just how great vehicles can be.
I like the Honda's, Acuras and all the Little pocket Rockets, You can make them steer wonderful with all the tuneing parts available! You can ad a wing and get rid of a lot of understeer by putting the majority of Downforce on the front, They work for me!

For all the people saying that a civic or integra doesn't handle nicely when fully tuned-you guys need to mess with the fully customizable suspension and most importantly fully customizable lsd. custom lsd in a fully tuned fwd is essential.

i agree
for EK9 and DC2, i think 250hp is the best....anything more will ruin the handling
for DC5 and EP3, i think 280-300 is max!!

if you want to have a 350hp car, then dont get the civic and integra

The words of the typical Honda hater. Yeah... Honda's suck, they last a long time, get great fuel economy and put out more HP per Liter (w/o forced induction) than any other manufacturers. All the Type R's are nothing but hype... I mean the Civic, Integra, S2000, and NSX are terrible excuses for automotive engineering.... Honda indeed makes a car that nearly every other car out there is above and that is why in the late 80's to early 90's they dominated Formula 1 and now engineer one of the best engines in F1 along with develop around 30% of the current BAR007 and the previous BAR006 F1 car.

#1 dont start out with any honda, unless its an nsx.

i bought the hype R with the black hood, and it look nice but the performance for the car only kicks ass for a small course, ie the motorland course found in driving park.

get rwd/awd cars to know what true handling and power is all about, the fwd cars in the game (same situation in real life) are nothing to write home about.

There is nothing wrong with a CTR. As some one stated earlier the mods between 97' and 98' were all cosmetic front facia, headlights, l/r fenders and some interior changes as well. Both are considered 6th generation Civics (as the body styles didn't change much). Here in the states the hatch (notice the name) is one of the most sought after. Buy the CTR hop that sucker up and race it till the wheels fall off....

The first car I bought in the game was a used Civic Type R. It performed well enough for the beginer races and Civic race in the Honda class race. You could win the Type R race with it also, if you get lucky and the NSX-R aren't in it. The CTR colors I've seen are white and black in the used car lot.

Putting "real" power on a FWD car doesn't always induce horrible understeer! Read any legitamate Car mag, and it will tell you that Honda is known for making FWD cars rotate as much as possible around corners like RWD cars. It's all about suspension tuning! No doubt that RWD is the preffered layout for a true sports car, but FWD cars can be fun also. For the price you pay for a Honda Civic Si, Civic Type R or an Integra Type R, there's not many that are as fun to drive. Hondas are great for the value, and out of all the cars I have driven they make the best transmissions. Drive an S2000, even a Civic Si and Integra Type R. The throws are precise and clean and the gearing is perfectly matched. The manual transmision that I've felt that are better or as good are the ones that come in BMWs twice the price. Mustangs, Camaros, Neons Cavaleirs Focus transmisions are no where as nice. I do own a 99 Civic Si. 138,643 miles and not one problem. Dynoed the car when it only had 6,200 miles on it and it put down 141whp, and at 136,000 it put down 135whp. I dynoed the car when it was fairly new for a baseline number, with all the mods I did have on the car, Max HP was 172whp and I still had plenty of ideas left, and that was all motor Can't expect the same from a friend's Cavaleir or Focus. I just recently purchased a 330Ci, I'm happy with that also, could have traded the Civic in, but I'm probably never going to sell that car! Don't get me wrong, the BMW is more refined, more comfortable and theres the prestige that comes with owning a BMW. But the Civic Si was/is a great car, fun to drive, reliable and I love getting 30+mpg from a five year old car.

after destroying a few cups with my hpa golf i decided to have a go at the ff, had a good look round for a car with a pretty good reputation and i got an '01 ctr for 15k or somethin silly like that, mildly (in my eyes) tuned it to 275hp, only up 100hp on what it was second hand before oil change, put a set of tyres on, lightened it, stock rims, stock brakes and i am truly loving racing it, shame the spoilers you can add look so out of place on every small car!!!! won the motul honda race car, gonna try the type-r race next, the sound of the ctr is really really accurate i think, spine tinglingly coarse but spot on to cars i have heard on videos on the net etc

never really been a honda fan, toyota 4 pots are more my bag but i do respect the vtec, did have a vid of a ctr giving a lotus elise a really really hard time round a circuit, oh and passing it, surely if the guy bought a lotus he has to be good at driving/know his stuff, how embarassing!!!! :nervous: :scared:

Apparently the ITR handles better than the CTR in real life (the older gen ITR). Those came stock with a torsen diff (as did the EK CTR), but for some reason or another had sharper handling.

Then again, the Clio should outhandle both, as it does in reality.

Peugeot's 1.9L 16v engine from the 80's is good for a very reliable 250hp/250Nm in road tune at only 8000rpm, without vtec trickery (and 280+ if you track it), so i think it's a big claim to say that hondas get the best power/displacement in the world. There are other european manufacturers who can pump it out too. Of course, if the whole world means "japan" to you, then honda probably would be.

blah blah blah quit living in the past the hondas F1 division may
have dominated in the early 90's but its '05 and where is the dominance?
and what does that have to do with the economy civic and sports coupe
(not sports car) integra?
hondas are slooow, let me explain; even to brag about being all motor
that doesnt mean ****, you're only limiting yourself in the end with the
pride of saying all motor.
civic integra rsx s2000, all slow cars and only good for autocross.
nsx is the only honda i would ever consider even owning

i drive a '93 supra tt, and saving up for a mustang cobra.

well well well... where do I start?

1. Let me start off by saying have fun w/ your redneck rocket once you finally get one.

2. ANY company that can dominate for consecutive seasons in F1 has to be given respect. Honda dominated from 86-91. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsports. To add to that...where is the domination? Well aside from Ferrari totally dominating the field with Michael Schumacher (who is the greatest driver in the world), BAR/Honda came second in the World Constructors Championship and were on pace to be putting over 1,000bhp in a 3.0L NA V10.

3. F1 domination has to do with Honda being the first company to integrate variable valve technology developed in F1 being employed in regular production cars.

4. You scoff at the NA platform? NA offers less mechanical problems than forced induction as there's no need for oil coolers and intercoolers and special cam timing to produce minimal valve overlap... Hondas, even though they aren't built from factory for turbo applications are more than capable of being built to withstand high boost.

On another note...you own a Toyota now? They are some of the lamest competitors in motorsports and build some of the most uninspired cars. Not only did they get banned for a year in WRC for turbine infractions... they single-handedly hosed C.A.R.T. and have recently been investigated and possibly indicted on grounds that they have stolen and used Ferrari data in their windtunnel program... Yeah... Toyota rules! They spend the most money of any team in F1 and finish almost dead last every GP...and Ford? Well they pulled out of F1 in the form of Jaguar, underfunding their team and struggling to beat teams like Jordan and Minardi with budgets far smaller. Yeah... have fun with your Cobra.

What is so hard about talking GT4 in these threads people! If you want to hash out which is better in the real world take it to the Automotive section of these forums. It's only a click away.

Thanks.

i still dont see your point when you bring in honda f1 when we are talking about hondas in gt4.

so you can type all you want, i will never buy a car that is fwd based and think it can compete with REAL sports cars.
ill take any Ford and Toyota when it comes to sports cars over any ANY honda.

1: ill smoke jsut about anything in the cobra once it becomes a reality and the fun part is it can handle turns, so aside from the NSX no honda can touch me. :)

2: quit living in the past honda has dominated f1 but hey have never even finished podium in LE MANS, or won any championships in Rally.

3: hondas are not built to withstand highboost, high compression engines dont do well with any type of boost, thats the point of low compression engines slapped with turbos/supercharges, IE Supras/ '03-'04 Cobras.
and save the BS my brother is a honda tech so dont talk like hondas were made for boost.

Supras have won more races in JGTC than NSXs.

Supras/'03-'04 Cobras can both handle over 700hp on stock internals show me a honda that can do that.

show me a honda that sells cars with handbuilt engines for 30k.

the '05 mustang already claimed its first 1-2 finish in the Grand American Road Racing series, agaisnt porsches 996/997s, M3s, Corvettes. Tell me when Honda claimed a 1-2 finish when it first introduced ANY of its cars that are for sale to the public.

how many championships has honda won in Le Mans anyways?

Maybe I have to go back and read some of the other posts....

2: quit living in the past honda has dominated f1 but hey have never even finished podium in LE MANS, or won any championships in Rally.

Does Honda have a rally team?

Supras/'03-'04 Cobras can both handle over 700hp on stock internals show me a honda that can do that.

Whats your proof that these two cars can handle that HP on stock internals
real proof not just some web site...

go and ask at supraforums.com, or svtperformance.com there is the proof, sometimes not everything can be found on the internet.
they both can actually handle up to 800hp.

you are right though the rally point is void, its just like asking how many bike championships Ford or Toyota has won, when they dont even make bikes.

but we are comparing cars.

i am a super honda fan, so i start most of my racing game with Honda,
start GT2 and GT3 with EG6 Civic, and start GT4 with a 95 spec DC2

i don't mean others are bad, but if we are talking about stock FF car (obviously you dont have much to mod in the early stage) Honda is one of the best choice. As most european used cars are expensive compare to Japanese used car.

by the way, most Honda engines are high compression NA design....why people always talk about putting a Turbo in there???

people putting turbos in there hondas usually spend ALOT of money getting their engines BUILT to handle the boost, but what limits them again is the FWD setup.
they also do engine swaps and build those engines to handle more boost.

N/A:
NSX
s2000
350z
rx8

Turbos:
Skyline
Supra
WRX STi
s13-15
Evo
3000gt VR-4
300z
rx7

ofcoz I know why people putting turbo in their civic and integra
and i know companies like Top Fuel and HKS, Greddy has pretty good Turbo Honda...

but what i am trying to say is.....i rather keep its NA setup, since that's the beauty of Honda engine, thats' why i am not a big fan of Turbo Honda.

Yes........ LSD owns.... in real life it owns too.

Did you even watch that video? I'm not into Honda Civics but after watching it that HB is the shiznit.

I ended up buying a 99 DC2 Integra-R. It handles like a dream and I love it.

Buy the Spoon tuned CTR and ITR for 75,000 each. I bought them because I'm a Honda nut... and because I own a Honda.. also for the looks. Performance wise... they're not that great.... but it's still fun to drive around and take snap shots with those cars. I'm really glad they put these cars in the game, I'm not disappointed at all. This was a move by the game developers to reach all the Honda fans out there... not the 'I need 600hp car that handles like a F1 machine' video game fans.

Also I have the Honda s2000 LM race car, Amuse s2000 GT1 and R1 car, and on getting the JGTC race NSX's next. :scared:
Yeah, as soon as I get some money i'm getting stocked up on Honda/Acuras :) I'm a big Honda and Mazda fan and an Acura driver in real :)

Yeah I saw a BMI video where they were comparing a bunch of VTEC cars and there was this one AE86 with a motor and tranny from an S2000 in it and they kept quoting how good the transmition felt.

They were also stating how well tuned the Jun Prelude was, and from what it looked like, they were having no problems with understeer and it pulled one of the best lap times.

I also heard or read somewhere that the Civic Si(R) was almost neutral steer; powering over resulted in all four wheels sliding instead of just the front, and all that was required to correct it was slowly lifting off the throttle, which I found very interesting.

Something that might be worth testing in GT4.

I will just say this about Honda's...I ask anyone what other car can you buy (mine 97 Civic hatch) for under 10k, then drop another 6-10k into it and have a car that will smoke an SVT Stang in th 1/4?

I have heard the excuse of "That guy just couldn't drive that Mustang thats why he lost."

Whats the sticker on that SVT anyway...how much money do you have to wrap up in her to get to the big show?

Much love to the Tuners...ya got my back!

**Sorry a bit out of topics**

ofcoz i am not saying Civic/Integra are slow, as I own 2 Accords and 2 Civics, 1 of them was EK4, and I loved it soooo much. 👍

but....if dump a large turbo and make it a 1/4 monster, it will kill its total balance and performance....
may be i am interest in track race more than 1/4 mile, so i am more concern on balance than huge amount of horsepower :grumpy:

i rememebed i watched a video showing a Spoon full tuned 1.8 EK4 out run a stock Skyline GTR R33 in Tsukuba, and that's what i call a good Tuned Civic!! :)

in reference to the shifting between an itr and an m3, aren't the gearboxes by the same company?

f1: both honda and ford had dominated in the past. honda in 1988 winning 15 of 16 races with its turbo engine - i think the most dominant season for honda/mclaren. ford, on the other hand had 30yrs (i think) of gp winning cars with its DFV v8 engine.

ricers just tarnish wat is actually a good engineering company.
and don't think that ford or watever non-Japanese car manufacturer is safe either. i'm already seeing neons and stuff on holdens and fords here. no 1 car company is safe
