Got randomly disconnected 👎 There goes my championship hopes unless both Nastra and Brandofo don't finish in the last race.
That's not entirely true. If I finish in fourth place and you finish in first place we will be tied in points, and if you get the fastest lap you will win by one point. I have to finish on the podium otherwise there is a chance you will beat me in points.
Deep Forest Race Report:
I woke up Saturday morning and all of a sudden I was doing laps in the high 16's (low 17's were my fastest laps up until that point). Unlike at La Sarthe, I didn't blow by qualifying lap and ran a fast enough lap to take pole position. Surprisingly, Magnemite qualified in second place. Congratulations to him for this. 👍
Corner one of the first lap was the cleanest I have ever seen; the cars were all very close but no contact was made. Me, Magnemite, Brando, Wii, and BlackIce broke off as the lead pack eventually. We stuck as a group without mixing it up too much until lap 8 where BlackIce caught some grass and spun out in a cloud of smoke right in front of me. (I don't remember seeing him again before his connection dropped.)
On lap thirteen or fourteen I was able to pull ahead by three seconds from the lead pack; there must have been a small incident behind me to cause this. WiiFreak pitted on lap fourteen, and I think Magnemite and Brando pitted on lap fifteen. My tires were still good so I stayed out until the end of lap sixteen. My pit strategy paid off because WiiFreak was just passing the pits when I exited them, meaning I was right on his tail for the second stint with tires that had two less laps on them. Also, at this point Brandofo and Magnemite were no where to be seen. I think Magnemite caught some grass in the same place as BlackIce and Brandofo stayed out for too long on bad tires. Brandofo wasn't too far behind though and he was gaining on me and Wii. Wii and I were not taking any risks, driving very conservatively. Then on lap 23 Wii's connection dropped and he was out of the race.
This made me sad.
Brando caught up to me later on lap 23 partially because MechyBoy didn't let me by and I ran into him pretty hard coming around the last corner onto the straight . I understand that it's just a game and you wanted to race with everyone who was on the track, MechyBoy, but when you are a lap down please don't hold up the leaders. If you aren't familiar with who drives which colour car I understand that this isn't always easy, but do your best. Thank you to Jav and Mule for being very conscious of this and giving Brando and me lots of room.
Since Brando had to catch up to me and Wii after the pit stop I had much better tires than him towards the end of the race. I passed Brando on the front straight on the last lap and he wasn't able to keep up due to his tires.
