BTW, the info you have on the Stang is based on the game performance. Its better than that. The NSX isnt underpowered though I would like to see some more ponies. BTW, a Porche Carrera can take an NSX easily. Has faster accelleration and handles better (in some ways)...

If their straight line performance is better than the Corvette like you say why is it that the NSX in the SCCA needs a turbo to keep up with the Vettes and Porche's? And why is it that Car and Driver picked the Vette over the NSX in their yearly Top 10?

Well, I think the Corvette and Viper engines have alot more potential because they aren't really high strung in stock form. The NSX is a little more high strung and already has power output that is close to its full potential. So, when you might just be able to add heads and intake to a Corvette and have a very powerful engine, you would need to go to greater lengths to modify an NSX engine.

Are SCCA cars raced in stock trim or are they modified race cars? If they're raced in stock trim, then I am baffled.

Another reason that Car and Driver would pick the Vette over an NSX is because a Vette is less than half the price, and its easier to drive around town due to torque. The NSX needs to be revved on a race track to get its full potential, where as with normal street driving and gear shifts at about 3-4,000rpm the NSX wouldn't feel much faster than a V6 Camry.

In the SCCA they try to make the cars even by giving them turbos, superchargers, intercoolers ETC to cathc them up to the faster cars. The Vette is pretty Much stock except for some body work and the NSX they gave a superchager and an intercooler. Plus they add weight to your car depending on how fast you qualified...

Oh I never said it doesn't perform good, it does, extremely well I might add, it's one of my favorite cars, but it is kinda underpowered horsepower wise versus some of it's rivals, I'm just saying imagine what it would do with 400+hp :D

Well if its as fast, or faster than a Corvette, why is it underpowered at all? The number 290hp may not sound like much compared with other cars, but that is clearly irrelevant in the case of the NSX.

So I guess anyone could say "...imagine what (insert car name) would do with (36% more power)".

Sure, EVERY car would be faster with more horsepower. But it doesnt mean they weren't fast to begin with.

I don't mean to totally shut you down. I completely understand where you are coming from. I am just ensuring that everyone sees the situation from every angle. For $90,000, 290hp doesn't seem like all the horsepower you can afford. The NSX does have a lot more potential and 400hp would be a welcome addition.

It is just that too many "American Iron" idiots' argument is: NSX's are slow, they only have 290hp and my Trans Am has 325hp, therefore it is faster.

I agree with you. I think Honda should put in a 430hp V8 and completely shut down the competition when they start doing 0-60 runs under 4 seconds. Which doesn't seem very unlikely in the NSX.

Whatever, I am completely rambling, and this was not meant to be an argument. I just wanted to defend the Uncanny NSX from any shadow of doubt.

Sorry guys but answering the original question I think the Acuras are reengineered to comply with America's standards. It is therefore heavier and I assume this may be why you can't get as much hp out of it when upgraded.

Car noob here :D

What does the "S" for NSX Type S stands for? Special?

And like what some of you pointed out in this thread. The NSX in the Arcade mode although 276HP, it sort of outrun every of the cars in the Class A section (except for the hidden cars).

I have to use NSX often to clear the Normal difficulty cos I'm still lousy :D

The amount of weight a car has doesnt effect its HP when Upgreaded (in the game)...
