I need to rant. A friend of mine around college has this beautiful new Mitsubishi Lancer 2008 model; the one that looks like a Mazda 6. It's electric blue in colour and just looks fantastic. I've always been a Lancer man, and have come from an extended family who have always loved the model since the 1970s.

Anyway, this weekend just gone was Parent's Weekend, a chance for our parents to come up to the university and see what we do. My friend was staying in town with her parents when, early on Sunday morning, someone smashed her rear window in. When she reported it to the police, at least four other cars had been targeted; all of them new. But their weapon of choice alone means that this was a deliberate attack. They used a screw weighted with a twenty-cent washer to penetrate the rear window, creating a hole large enough for me to put my fist through. It hit the window with such velocity that the entire thing is now covered in a myriad of spiderwebs (though oddly enough, it didn't embed itself in the upholstery). Whoever did it probably hit it from close range with some kind of launcher like a paintball gun (but I have no idea how they'd load it) or something as a slingshot wouldn't be too accurate.

Personally, I think it was Mazda, seeking revenge for the similarities between th '08 Lancer and the Mazda 6, but in all seriousness, it's just disgusting. What the hell is wrong with some people?

People that failed at life and think others should suffer for their FAIL. Especially people that went beyond not failing and can afford nice cars.

Yes, that's it. I hate people like that.

My first car was a

ty '85 Mazda 626... I went to the park near my house for X-country practice, came back and someone shot out my rear window with a bb gun. The window was intact but cracked up all over the whole window except for the small hole that started it all. Then later... I got my car broken into 3 times in my drive way. 2 of the 3 times they broke the window.

I don't know what else to say... Maybe I'm lucky.

I don't live in the ghetto although this place has really gone down hill in terms of intelligents period.

All I can say

happens especially when they don't respect other people's things...

On top of the drug addicts breaking into people's cars in this area, we also have kids who go around bashing car windows, slashing tires, or sometimes, tagging cars with spray cans. Once in a while, they do this for blocks, entire neighborhood, or the whole parking lot.

There was this one lady on the news, who got her tires slashed at the local grocery store parking lot. Nearby tire shop sent trucks to replace all the tires that were slashed at this store, but she could not afford the new tires, so her car was just stranded there.

Cop(s) at the scene decided to just buy her tires out of their own pocket, which was a great story, but you can imagine how mad I was at these punks. It might sound harsh, but these kids really need to have their arms broken or something.

Vandalism is always going to happen, I had some kids take a bat to the side of my Blazer a few years back because they were bored. Some time before that I had someone break the side window on my Blazer and steal my sound system and xmas presents. I don't live in a bad area either but that means nothing, there will always be ignorant and jealous people no matter where you live.

Hopefully they will catch the people, typically it's younger kids (15-17) either looking for cheap thrills or easy stuff they can fence. They typically talk and end up getting caught.

That's why i have a firearms license.. We are surrounded by individuals who could care less about personal property or even the well being of another person. I've known plenty of people who have had these type of things happen to them and it is truly a shame.

There's a pretty good battle going on between the Earth Muffins and Cowboys out West as they beat up their lifted pickups and Priuses. It even made it to Autoblog today...

Wow, that's pretty interesting..... I mean, messed up. I had a guy while back who purchased a hybrid badge(for Ford Escapes) for his Explorer. It was vandalized by one of those eco-terrorist wannabes. It couldn't have worked.

Wait wait... Let me get this straight... A guy put a hybrid badge on his non-hybrid SUV and he thought this wouldn't be a bad idea...? Kinda funny how he's screwed if he does or if he doesn't though.

thank God I allready HAVE junkers. if someone tried that out here, there's be a lot of dead cowboys and tree huggers with 30-06, 45, 357 mag and shotgun rounds in them.

nothings happend to my new car yet, but my previous one had a keyed scribble on the roof, and some chavs nicked a wing mirror of my sisters moped, chavs also cut the brake lines on another girl's moped and fortunately she managed to dodge main road traffic when she went flying across the first junction :odd: down the road kids walked over some guys car, unlucky for them he was a rodder with plenty of mates and ears down the pub tracked down the boy and they paid him a little 'visit'.
have really got to wonder why these kids bother being a pita when they could be doing something constructive like wrecking their own things. earning and effort seems to be regarded as a needless hassle by some nowadays

Our old car was broken into many times, about 6 or 7 times in 3 years. Mind you, the car was out on the street. After a while, we got tired of it since the car wasn't worth much anyway. Just about every time someone breaks in, they fail at stealing the car itself which has no working locks, and no lock at all on the driver door. They sometimes break the window to get in, even though the car is basically unlocked. By the second year, we didn't really care since the car never got stolen anyway. Whoever was trying to steal the car was probably the most failing person the world has ever seen. The car had absolutely no security whatsoever.

My driver's side window was shot out of the ACR when I parked it on the street once... part of a spree that included almost a hundred cars. I believe the idiot involved is still serving time in the Junior Disneyland Hotel.

Somebody in a moving car threw a half-full 40oz through the rear window while it was parked, too. Nothing quite like cleaning glass splinters glued down with dried malt liquor out of your velour upholstery.

I've said it before - when I'm king, vandalism will be a capital crime.

Vandalism sucks. I park my car in an empty corner of the parking garage. At night it's not around anything else. I'm sure it'll get vandalized before the end of the year, but it is what it is. Try not to let it get you down.

When we first moved to our new house 12 years ago, someone felt it necessary to BB gun my dad's Duster when he parked it out on the street one night.

Quick update: while they haven't caught the person responsible, we're pretty sure they're close. We looked at the cars that had all been targeted and not only were they new cars driven by drivers on their P plates, they're all frequently found in the university's East Car Park. We think it might be someone on campus going around the nearby schools of theatre and georgraphy and quite possibly the Faculty of Nursing and Education (don't ask me why they're all so close together; I have no idea), seeing the cars and then targeting them later for whatever reason. We know this because one of my other friends works for the on-campus security and told me to pass the message on to my friend whose car was attacked.

Also, she's gotten her rear window replaced. Fortunately, the insurance managed to cover it.

My car recently got broken into and my ipod and a friend's backpack were stolen. Fortunately the ipod was old and barely worked and I was looking for an excuse to get a new one, and his backpack had nothing important in it. My wallet was in the ashtray and I'm so glad they didn't notice it. I hate vandalism and robbery!

No offense dOOd... was your stuff sitting out in the open? If so... you were kinda asking for it. At least there would be a reason why they targeted your car then. Mine, especially the 3rd time there was absolutely NOTHING in it for them to be motivated to break in. They did it anyway...
