F********** XBOX! :)
I've been in a game (two days ago) where some g-unot wannabe gangster was about to "kill his wife". She ran into the room steaming mad because she had to do all the work, take care of the kids, cook and clean and he was playing GT5 all day. His response was something like "get out of the room you (bleeping bleep bleep bleep bleep) before I slit your throat and leave you here bleeding to death" followed by 5 minutes of swearing, screaming and what seemed like some sort of fight. When it was over, the guy came back like nothing happened and said "let's roll!".

Meanwhile there were 12ish players listening to the fight, it really amazed me to say the least. If there were kids in the game, or even in one of the rooms were the 12 people were playing they had to hear this horrible event.

What I'm trying to say is IF you happen to have kids around at that point, what will you do? I think screaming, swearing and threatening over the mic is far far worse then the usual text messages full of crap. It wouldn't bother me at all to get guys like this banned from GT5 online forever, or disable their ability to have a mic or even send out text messages.

Now, two days later I realize that this was pretty horrible to witness, and to be honest I didn't think about it much when it actually happened. Too bad I didn't write down his PSN id so other people could avoid him or even report him for violating the terms.

I think if you go online and you happen to have a mic, especially those which turn on automatically when speaking, think about the players in the lobby and think about the possibility of children being able to hear your rampage.

Welcome to real life.

It really is a shame how many bitter people they're is in the world, I won a race on the Wangan against some guy, I then got some terrible language in my inbox, something a normal 13 year old shouldn't see....

I went ahead to beat him again, and well, it got worse.

Is there a way to shut off audio chat? That was my favorite feature of Uncharted 2's online, that I didn't have to hear some of these idiots speak. Red Dead Redemption didn't have that and it made it suck. Too many stupid kids and even adult morons who love the anonymity of PSN.

Of all the online games I've player over the years this is the first one where I'm not able to turn it off in-game. Something that should put into consideration for the next update!

welcome to the online gaming world

where people have IQ's is lower than room temperature are allowed to play

be it from cussing and saying you are an aimbot to threating others with their lives

i find it amusing though if he spent more time thinking on a game plan rather than mouthing off they could have beaten you

There's a way to turn off the audi of other players, in lobby just select the player that is disturbing you then press triangle and choose ignore audio or something like that

you kidding me? Man this is what you get for having a crappy manual like GT5 does. You'll have to find everything on your own :ouch: I'll give that a try when I get back home!

But is there a way to mute all? Otherwise it could get frustrating lol

I haven't played GT5 on-line yet, but I'll wait until they add a "mute all" option. Voice chat on pubs is pretty much guaranteed to make your ears bleed for one reason or another.

I either start a new room up and disable chat, or just find one in the list where the user has disabled voice chat.

If I'm playing with friends we normally have USB keyboards plugged in to chat.

There certainly should be some etiquette regarding the online chat. I was online the other night and one player had his audio going through speakers so I could hear the distorted version of the game playing as well as his coughing, sniffling hacking, burping and every other conceivable bodily noise that should go unmentioned here.

So guys, even if you're not planning a domestic with the wife it would be really nice for the other people in the room to have the audio muted unless you actually have something (hopefully) intelligent to say.

welcome to every online game ever...if it really bothers you that much buy a mic, turn it on and leave it sitting on the floor, or mute whoever may be offending you.
