My favorite T70:

Unfortunately, it's impossible to replicate.

Because unless you have an Alps printer, it's impossible to print white-based decals on clear paper. One day, maybe.

edit:

Ah, new page, new box of stuff:

Love the variety. My most anticipated is the total car in box #4. The red dune buggy like thing in box #3 .Top right, I vaguely remember having one of those, but not what it is.

Didn't we have a discussion about using white decal paper and matching the background colour to the base paint?

Yes, but it's basically impossible to do tests due to the difference in printers and papers, specially since I wouldn't do it in my own printer, as I don't have/can't afford a good color laser printer. The resulting color might be close but it wouldn't really match, and you still have the problem of the white edge of the paper showing against such a dark background as the Sunoco blue.

It can be done in black -I've done it- because, well, it's black, and the clearcoat integrates all of it nicely, but if the background is any color, you're doomed. I'd rather not do it and do stuff that can be done properly, rather than do it and always have my attention in the white edges of the paper.

Have you seen any of the COUNTLESS Bre customs out there? Check out the one that DO have the white numbers and BRE scripting on the hood and see how it is immmediately noticeable that it's just a square piece of paper more or less color-matched. And that's just regular red. Not even red can be color matched, imagine other more complex colors.

Ah, that's Hot Wheels' Greased Gremlin:

Different outputs

True, but a test print with a range of values should help determine the right adjustments needed to be made.

Here's that Annihilator again.

I'm an ambitious little one. I screwed up this car by brushing on the thick car paint. Next time, I'd de-can some of it, mix it with thiner and use a fine brush that can handle tiny dabs.

it's just a square piece of paper more or less color-matched.

See above picture. I think it's safe to say it's currently the best workaround known to the community.

Not even red can be color matched, imagine other more complex colors.

Eh...Too many variables in this circumstance to dismiss it so easily.

1) Their red paint could've been of any variation.
2) It could be their printer limitation.
3) They're lazy to colour match it any better
4) They're bad at color matching.

Granted I don't have a good printer either, a creative mind should be able to find at least a decent workaround.

Wtf? Massive nostalgia overload, I had that white z31 300zx in your second box when I was a kid, loved it to bits, if I knew what happened to it I would love to restore it. Love the actual pop up lights also, any chance of getting my hands on that bro?

Well I could send one to you (I have two) but I think it would be cheaper and easier and much safer for the car to actually reach you if you just went over E-Bay and grabbed one, it was made by Majorette and they are not hard to come by, and since the vast majority of them are not France-made anymore, they're pretty cheap.

I created disc brakes to look more realistic.

Also painted the interior, tinted the windows (detailed exterior window trim), wheel swap. I'm happy with the end result :-)

I like what you did with the brakes, @DUBer. Is the piece of plastic you used something you fabricated or is it taken off something else?

This was a first attempt trial run. I tried to find metal washers that were small enough but all were too big. In this case i busted out the dremel tool and carved small cylindrical pieces of plastic down to size. Im gonna try to find small washers for future projects tho. Would make this alot easier.

Have you possibly considered getting tubing of that right thickness and diameter? It will get you the same size every time and you won't need to keep sanding down material.

I never really thought about getting tubing. That could work. Not sure i want to go that route tho. Thinking about creating a divided bin with a full range of sizes of washers. I do work with other model scales as well (1:18 & 1:24). I have models with no brakes and that bugs me. Lol.

This one was supposed to be purple, but it kinda turned out pink.

Oh well, I'm actually starting to kinda like it.

This ones better. :)

A few more I finished up over the weekend. I don't like the tailgate of the Chevelle wagon. I spent a lot of time trying to detail the interior and engine bay of the Fast and Furious GT40. The Torino was a redo of my first attempt.

What car are these rims/wheels from? Looks like they'd be great for Mad Max-style post apocalyptic mods, where there are no fancy rims.

@Cano, we got huge backlogs. Here's a neat tool I learned of in my co-op position.

https://www.pivotaltracker.com/n/projects/1391244

Thing's called Pivotal Tracker. It's a web-based project management tool you can use to keep tabs on all the things you need to do, the stuff you need to finish, and the idea you may have sitting in the icebox for future reference.

That page is something I whipped up just now. There's at least 100 more records ("stories" as they're called) to make per each car I still have in that big box in the basement.

Pivotal Tracker can be used for free indefinitely so long as you don't exceed the free account's limitations. I've already been using this to keep track of personal projects outside of custom 1:64s, and it's doing an okay job so far. Some things I like the most about it is how I can browse all the stories in its minimized form and expand only the ones I need to see in greater detail, as well as the fact I can change the progression status from Start to Finished with one click of a button.

Mmmhh... I might not use it for 1:64 cars because really, who cares. But it sounds like it might be way more useful to keep track of other things. Thanks dude 👍 will check.

Hello, I am just starting out in 1:64 customs. Mostly simple repaints and such for now.I do have a question though. Are there any sites or places i can find/buy decals (either dry rub or wet apply) that i can use to replace the Badges and emblems of my cars? (i.e. the F150 badge for a ford pick up, the SS badge for a '70 Chevelle, the lettering for DODGE from the back of a 2011 Charger...)

My plan is for highly detailed customs and i feel these small touches are necessary. Any help you can offer would be great.

Thanks in advance
