I mean - who can race alone that long?
Is it possible to team up with ones B-spec drivers?

Many of us wish that we could team-up with our B-spec drivers, however (unlike GT4) this is not possible.

The A-spec endurance races must be completed by the gamer (and maybe a friend or two).

The shorter endurance races are quite fun, just pick a car that is worse than the AI to give yourself a challenge.

See you at the races!

The pause button or the Suspend Race option.

My PS3 got a LOT noisier after about 16 hours of a 24 hour endurance race, with the pause button, before the Suspend Race feature. Be glad that PD put the Suspend Race feature in. 👍 👍

Yeah, the suspend race feature was an excellent addition.

It usually takes me about two weeks to complete a 24 hour race, and since my PS3 no longer likes to be left on for two weeks straight, I will use the suspend race option quite a few times during the race.

Too bad B-spec drivers can't be included. It would add to the realism.
I heard about the suspend option. It's also there in championships.
I should have used it today as i ran out of concentration, having to retire from the two last races, ending up third.

So know what we should do is put in the Gt6 thread the request to add b spec drivers or to team up with them in 24h races

I've not attempted an endurance race yet. Just to clarify, if I've started a 24hr race for eg. and get tired after 20 minutes mid lap, when I pause the game with the start button on my ps3 controller there will be a suspend option? Do I have to Pit in first or can I do this mid lap? So I suspend the race and next day I turn on GT5, am I presented with my race from where I left it? What if I choose to race something else as a warm up, perhaps arcade mode, time trial, online etc. and come back to the 24 a few minutes later? Is that possible or am I forced to continue my 24?

Excuse the childish like questions, all of them hit me at once. Sorry.

You have to pit to suspend. The suspend option is on the pit-in menu -- it will resume entering the pits so you can choose your fuel and tires when you return.

You won't be allowed to do anything else until the race is over, as it should be(endurance, right?). You can't even change options. You can however back up your save pre-race and then switch to that save if you want to play online or really want to do something else.

Suspending will also disable replays, though I don't think it records the full 24 hours anyway.

Thank you for clarifying that Morgoth.

Edit: And thank you for the work around using the save data.

I've seen that reported, never tried it. Don't see a reason why it wouldn't work though.

as long as you don't make your car too fast then you should have good fun. i did it in a 787b through one week but make sure you look up the suspend race AI problem that Famine analyzed

If you want to other thing instead of the 24 hr race you should create a second account and use it when you don't want to race in the 24 hr race. Also be sure to do a backup each time you suspend the race in case you have a power failure during the race.

What about B-Spec 24hour races? Can those be suspended as well? Reason I ask is because I don't feel like keeping my PS3 on for 24 hours in order for me Bobs to finish the race...

I think you can but you could just try it and leaving your ps3 on for 24h is brutal...

Even better than that, what if when you pit you have an option to nominate/invite one or more of your in game friends to help out ?

They could have done a sped up version. Say 24 hours done in 2, with fuel consumption and car wear multiplied by 12.

so basically, pit every lap:crazy:

I did Le Mans with a DS3 lol

I have yet to do the 24H races in A-Spec simply because I can only dedicate so many hours per evening after work to the game and run in regular race series'. It would take me over a week to do one 24hr, and I am not willing to cop-out and use a X2010/2011 just to do them. I also can't see myself doing 2x 12hr stints on a weekend

I will have to wait until Christmas holidays and maybe do them then when I have more time in the day and the league is on hiatus. Could have done that last year, but I was on holidays away from home so couldn't :)

You can make your own arcade mode endurance. 14 laps around Nürburgring is roughly two hours. You also have the 4 hour endurance of Nürburgring.

As for fuel consumption and tyre wear, I think the current rate is fast enough. Fuel lasts 5-6 laps around the ring (multiplied by 12 that's 1/2 lap), tyres 1-6 laps depending on car and compound.

Yeah those can be fun, and the AI races better in arcade as weall as having a fuller and closer field to boot. You can even include damage if you want. Only major issue(aside from the obvious getting the field you want) is that rain can goof things up and extend the race into night on the second day.

If nothing else, it's good practice for night driving.

An X2011 wouldn't make any difference from whatever other car you'd choose, 24 hours are still 24 hours :) sure, you'd travel further, but that's all.

I have a similar problem with group commitments, so that is a problem. Hope it works out as the 24hr races can be quite beautiful, especially seeing the sky get lighter after all the darkness.

This is why I hate to do a 24-hours endurance race on GT5 and will never give a try of it from now on too.

If you use the X2011 you only have to do a certain amount of laps and then you can just wait by the start/finish line until the time is up. There are plenty threads about this as well :)

True, I'd forgotten about that 'technique'...

Heathen's 24hr A-spec instruction manual

1: Get 3 mates over
2: Tell them their entry fee is: 2 cartons of beer from one mate, a pizza order for everyone from your second mate and snacks and drinks for 24hrs from the 3rd
3: Select a car (you do this after testing) that you need to drive well to win.
4: Throw in $10 each for the fastest lap, quickest lap wins the total :)

And there it is, not rocket science but it is a heap of fun 👍

so basically, pit every lap:crazy:

Well on the green hell (read Nürburgring) my tire wear is so heavy that i have to pit every 2 Laps.
Basicly it's outlap followed by an inlap.
Racing with hard compound race tires.

I sat in front of it in 9 hours stints using a DS3.

I'm extremely grateful I completed my 24 hour races before the tire wear got adjusted, I've gone for a couple tries at the Le Mans 24 afterwards and it plays out very differently, never mind the AI running on Sport Super Softs after your first time resuming.
