Hello guys,
I am seeing a lot of people saying that the driving physics are bad in TDU2, but how bad is it cause I'm willing to buy it but I'm only seeing negative comments. I had TDU 1 on the PSP and I loved it, driving wasn't awesome but it was enjoyable. I've also played Just Cause 2 and NFS Shift 2 and both didn't have good driving physics but they were enjoyable.
Thanks.

They're okay, not as good as TDU1, but still ok. FFB for wheel is pretty bad though.

The whole idea is not to try and compare the 'driving' in the game with real world driving. Leave that to the simulators and the comparison gurus. Boss the game for what it is - and you will have a great time. Getting the right feel of the wheel is crucial. Experiment till you find a setting that suits your style - one that makes your car do what you want your car to do.
You won't stop driving after that.
Challenges are fun, and the Championships will test your gaming skill. Exploring the Islands is immense fun. And you may visit Hawaii one day with a sense of deja vu.

Just don't fool yourself that you will become a Senna IRL. It's a different set of skills.
I would liken it to Wipeout Pure. On wheels.

Got this game yesterday, In the first 10 mins it felt like 8-bit/blocky driving, But now it totally feels normal like GT5, Not every car but the cars I have right now.

NLxAROSA:
TDU 1 for PSP was just amazing, Especially driving in my White Lambo topples <3. It's a shame that it is not in TDU2 anymore :(. Driving feels a bit less then TDU1 but I still like it :D.

photonrider:
It is an awesome game, Although my skill level in right now is pretty low xD.

Cheers!

Physics are not the strong point of TDU2, which is a shame because the road designs are well done for an open world. You'll eventually get used to it the more time you spend with the game.

TDU 1 for PSP is amazing but the PC version is even better. That game really shines with a FFB wheel. It's strange that they messed up such a good thing. TDU 1 was realistic in many ways but still easy enough to drive on open roads. You can feel the difference between drivetrains, there's good weight transfer, there's lift off oversteer, some understeer, and the cars just feel good.

TDU 2 at speed, feels pretty much the same, but at low speed or when you lose grip, it's crap. It must be the tire physics. It's far too difficult to get going from a stnadstill, the tires spin way to much, and when you do manage to slide the car at all, you're screwed. The tire physics are really bad. It sucks because there are a lot of similarities between 2 and 1

It was pretty easy for me to get used to. All you really need to change is your throttle control so I would recommend it because it is a ton of fun. Oh and the rally driving is tons of fun too, it doesn't have the grip problems that you get on the pavement, it almost feels like a normal racing game on the dirt

I totally agree with you. I love TDU much more than TDU2, especially when you spend more time on both games, you will realise how good TDU was and how bad TDU2 is.

It's a shame that Atari has shutdown TDU1 server, as I missed the chance to enjoy the joy of online free ride in TDU1...

TDU1 provided hours of "enjoyment" even after I have completed the game (a few times..)
But in TDU2 after a couple of hours it's time to move on.

TDU1 had a really nice selection of cars (Mustang Concept, ME-412), and it had some pretty good physics for being an older game . Along with traction it was pretty good.
TDU2 has again a nice selection of cars but I don't have a favorite one. Along with traction it falls between "Bad" and "Ok"

I also totally agree with you guys, TDU was never boring for me, lots of cars, lots things to do and great physics and graphics, the funny thing is that the PSP version was poor of graphics then PS2/PC but I still like it more then TDU2 cause TDU2 just got totally messed up, bad traction,Bad steering and the start like Tom said is a pain in the ... for everyone. On a average I would give TDU a 9 out of 10 and TDU2 a poor 5. It's nice to free roam but the physics are to bad. I totally agree with you guys. If they could ever make a new version of TDU2 with better physics and more fun stuff to do, I would defenitly buy it.

Such a shame TDU 1 servers have been shut down. TDU 1 was the first game I bought on a PC i built back in 2007, built soley for driving games. It was amazing fun cruising online with friends down the highway.

I bough TDU2 on ps3 on release and what a dissapointment, put it away in disgust and got on with GT5. Loaded it back up today and got a 1 gig patch, same s**t different day, handling still messed up on G25 and just feels plain ODD.

I had one moment of joy and that was cruising in my old merc, super slow car and planning overtakes, went from one side of the island to the other. That was fun but its not TDU.

I hope someone else gets the licence and makes it into the game it used to be. Even the classic test drives were brilliant back in the day... a real shame.

I agree. This is a game that has been sorely neglected - especially for gamers who love to cruise, tour or test drive.

You should be able to pick it up cheap. Even the xbox dashboard has it for about $20.00 in the games on demand section. I am sure you could find it for about $15.00. The driving physics are not as good as TDU1 but there is a LOT to do in this game. It drives more like an arcade racer where TDU1 had a sim/arcade feel to it. Some vehicles hande better than others thats for sure. TDU2 has had a LOT of updates which have improved the game a lot. Most everything works now that didnt work 2 years ago.

I would highly suggest the Casino for sure. Thats thats coming from someone that never even knew how to play poker until TDU2. The Casino is like an entire world of its own with different leveling, poker, slot machines, cars to win, tournaments, a bar, and Roulette. I just talked a friend into buying this game yesterday and he has been having a blast.
