I don't think it lets you test drive cars from the dealership. If you go to arcade it only lets you choose from 20 or so cars. I just want to drive some cars in arcade mode.

You just answered your own question.
Arcade mode is the only way to drive cars without having first bought them, but only 20.

Another way though I guess is prize cars, but that's just being pedantic.

Kinda cheating and a long time wasted but you could probably back up your save, test the car if you don't like it delete new save and reinstall old backed up save.

Disclaimer
I have not tried this so if it don't work it's not my fault :p

You can also mark cars you already own (I know, I know) as favorites in your garage to have them available in Arcade mode. GT5 would only let you add 100 cars to favorites list, not sure what (or if) the limit is in GT6.

Why not just do the third Like The Wind event with 200% login bonus? 140,000 credits for 4 minutes in the Mercedes Vision. If you do this for an hour, you earn 2,100,000 credits. It's not perfect, but it's the best money-maker we have right now.

It's still 100.

The Twin Ring NASCAR event has a higher payout (169K, IIRC) and takes less time (3:20ish).
