I have been trying to pass Mission 13 for the past 5 days two hours a day :nervous: and the other night I thought that I finally passed it, but I didn’t. I lost the mission by 0.013 seconds. I could not believe it, 0.013 seconds, how can you lose a race that close?

What is your closes time to winning a race with out winning?

By the way I did pass M13 the next day by 0.138 seconds. 👍 Talk about your photo finish.

In Mission 31 (was it 31? it was the one with the Lotuses on 1 Lap Magic) I lost to the Elan by 0.010 seconds.

that was in the license tests, the test with the viper where you accelerate and brake at the 1000m line...i tried to get the gold time at least 30 times and i got down from 0.1 to 0.008! it really pissed me of! damn ds2 controller! but i managed it after all! :dopey:

More times than I care to think about I've been .001 short of gold in a license test. Not only in GT4 but GT3 also. That makes you want to toss a controller a loooong way...

I won by 0.000 seconds. Yes. Those are all zeroes. Yes I did win...I think. I got the money and points for it, but the way I won was buy catching up in the straight drafting. It was the Mini Cooper series, too, so it felt real funky catching up like that.

Lost a race (Hong Kong track) right at the last corner. Spun out due at last corner to not changing my red, worn tyres (yes - spelt "tyres" in England) in my Woodone. Had no traction, lost by a fraction of a second.

I've won a race in GT3 by 0.001 seconds. I had a car that outhandled everyone pretty well, but they had more power. On the front straight on the last lap, i switched to rear view to watch 2nd place close the gap. Damn, that was scary :)

In GT4, I lost to the subaru 360 in the one-lap magic by 0.003, i think.

TVR Blackpool Races @Fuji - I tried to do battle with the Speed 12 in my stock TVR V8S for at least a dozen tries. After being batted around by the Speed 12... shoved into this corner, punted into the dirt there I started taking more extreme measures such as trapping him in the corner at the end of the backside straight before the esses. Still a lot of work to block him.

Well, I finally trapped the Speed 12 long enough to overtake 1st place on the very last corner of the race. I watched my rear-view for a sign of the Speed 12 to show up... because he usually doe. At the same time I failed to pay attention to the Tuscan creeping up behind me. When I finallly woke up to the real threat he had used my draft to attempt an overtake. Too late to block. And sure enough, I paid for that mistake :guilty:

I was running mission 34. On the 4th attempt I came so close I thought I won and ended up getting all exited for a close los. I got it by .137 on the next try.

I had a split time at the end of the 4th sector in my LaSarthe I 24 hour endurance in A-Spec that showed a split of 0.000!!!! I thought it was a mistake at first so I read it twice and almost drove off the track.

I lost the Nurburgring 4 hour race twice in a row by less than a second (less than half a second the 2nd time).

I thought winning my license test on the Nurburgring by .3 seconds was bad, but this loss of yours is way too much. I absolutely hate the Nurburgring! Too long to memorize and too narrow for much speed :ouch:

I've also been spending most of my playing time tuning, and trying to win that forsaken 5th race Infineon Raceway in World Championship with the Yellowbird. All to no avail thus far. So, I decided to take my modified '94 RX7 for a spin. The car drives so predictably that I led from the 2nd lap until about 100 yards from the last hairpin turn when my tires were so worn I spun out and here came 5 cars passing me like I'm sitting still----well, I was sitting still :( And that was on the first try with that car, while I've spent a good 50 times with the Yellowbird and no luck.

I'm sorry, but I still HATE it!!!! :) I'm a minority on this issue, but I haven't had any good luck on that circuit yet. The Nurburgring is rich in history, but I still HATE it :)

It took me four laps on the 'ring to memorize the general shape of it. Four more and I memorized nearly all of the bumps and began to fall in love with it's surrealness, especially that HUGE straight! That said it is very tough in certain portions. Heh, "portions"--how often is THAT term used in conjunction with a race track?

My afore mentioned Mini Cooper race:

My car is the silver one. Both photos display the same moment in time; PD BETTER make a rewind feature for replays in GT5!! As you can see, these are taken RIGHT after passing the finish line and this was my 3rd and closest attempt at getting it right at the line.

EDIT: I REALLY don't mean to sound so arrogant in this post! But that was a real close race...! :nervous:

BMW M3 GTR Race Car + Nurburgring + nobody else on the track to ruin your fun = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

If that doesn't cheer you up, then you must REALLY hate the Nurburgring...and it probably hates you :)

Great Pictures! I wanted to do the same thing for my photo finish race, but I could not get a good angle of the cars or have the cars near the finish line.
Your right I hope they do put some replay controls in GT5. Having no replay controls in GT4 is probably one of, if not the only disappointment I have for the game.

What was the time difference in that race?

This isn't exactly keeping with the theme, but i did a lap on Tokyo route 246 and it was 1:13:000 seconds exactly! It was well cool

According to the game, the difference was +0'00.000. It was in blue though it had the positive indicator next to the number(s). I named the replay file "Zero Difference". Also, in case you wanted to know, this was done in the Mini Cooper race series at Tokyo R246 forward. It's a one lap race, I started at the back of the back and had to draft that green guy to catch him on that last stretch! I couldn't believe it when I saw the credits rolling in--not because they were many, mind you, but because I WON! lol

One time in GT3 on Special Stage R11 (I know, we all miss that gem), I had a +0'00.002 "lead" on another car, though the vehicle thumbnail next to the time was MY car. lol It was on the T3 line I believe. But it was an endurance race on the first few laps, so not a real finish per se, but still a strange glitch that they seemed to have remedied in GT4.

EDIT: I'm sorry! I really should've accepted that compliment on my photos first and foremost! I really appreciate comments like that!

What about the biggest loosing margin for a 2 point A spec race around the ring. I am 30 seconds behind the leader before I get half way.
Can any body guess what car was in the lead and what race series it was.
Even in a 200 point race at the ring I was only 14 seconds down at the end of lap 1.
I have passed mission 34 so don't say I don't know the track well enough.

The series could be any of :

1000 Miles!
European Classic Car GP
World Classic Car Series

and the car would have to be powered by a 427 cui big block V8.

If I had to pick one it would be the World Classics and you are being stomped on by a Shelby Cobra.

I think it must of been the 427.
