How close was your enduro win or loss?

Well I did the miata endurance race, was 8 laps a head when I suspended the race, with about an hour and half left to go. Turn the game back on the next day... I get the glitch... so let the AI drive the rest of the race for me... had no back tires thank god i had about 1/4 a tank left of gas at the end... but with an 8 lap lead with 2 hours to go... the AI won it for me by 1 sec... 1 sec... the last 10 laps I was sweating bullets... even my roommate who doesnt even like racing games let alone cars was rooting for me lol.

Where to start..

What glitch is this? Sounds like an unintentional B spec.

From another thread. One of my best races I think.

Just incredible....

Sone great tales of epic encounters goin on here!!

I'm trying to tune (or detune) a car for the 9hr enduro to attempt my own close finish, just did a test run with NSX stealth but it was a fraction fast, gunna try it again but no turbo this time!

Ok so now ima try the GT by Citröen Road Car, could be on to something here :-)

Nurb 4hrs, won by 20s in my 173hp strong GIULIA TZ2 :)

My 9hr Tsukuba race suffered the dreaded "plitch" (Pit Glitch) and unfortunately I had to end the race... I am not happy. Looks like I will have to do that one in one sitting... myght use the Citroen GT road car again too, I was having an epic battle that would have ensured a close race I reckon, pity it handles like my ex wife: hard to get to do what you want and bottom heavy

With the advantage of the new save facility, I completed the Suzuka 1000 over this weekend, on paper I won easily by around 4 laps but I nearly lost it all the last time I restored the race from a save, it took 3 attempts, each time freezing on where the race menu would be (aerial view of the pit straight) or it would "load" 1 or 2 cars then freeze. When I couldn't even quit and had to turn the power off I thought i'd lost my position, but then it loaded ok, it seemed to help by not going online.

As for the race, i've done the shorter races but found this one so odd. I used the Arta NSX, bone stock, on racing hards and there was light rain and (I didn't realise this til I started) some water/spray on the road. But I soon overtook most of the field, when I surely should have been using inters.

The leader sped away (another Arta NSX) but I gradually reeled him in. Then for almost the whole of the rest of the race, the track had dried fully yet it was still lightly raining (usually only visible when switching to cockpit). I started to hope that the track would get wet again or there would even be a proper downpour but this didn't happen, and by the end it was sunny. Also I found that the Racing Softs I had didn't wear much quicker than the hards, so I put them on each time I pitted instead.

I then focused on trying to beat my own lap time, so I beached several times and said hi to a barrier or tyre wall a couple of times, otherwise I would have been more than 4 laps ahead i'm sure. My fastest lap was around 1:58.

The car was definitely too quick for the opposition even though the car in second was exactly the same. I did try Kaz's Nissan before that , real tortoise & hare stuff but I made a few mistakes and whilst I nearly got into the lead quite early on, I then drifted back to about 4th and gave up. I think I need to give that another try though, my only concern being that I seem to get through tyres a lot quicker than the AI!

@hun200kph Why do you find it difficult to right foot brake? Unless you don't drive a car in real life i would expect it to be just as natural (if not more) as left foot braking?

Unless of course you left foot brake in real life too... 💡

I left foot break in real life... Grew up in an arcade playing machines with no clutch and since I don't drive a manual car myself (that will change for my next car) I have never stopped, just feels natural lol

When I did the 9 hour tsukuba i ended up being only 6 or 7 laps ahead of 2nd place (about 5 minutes give or take)

thats about as close as i'll ever want to go..

Also finished 4 hour 'ring about 6 minutes ahead.

Haha yeah it's a tough call to throw caution into the wind & go for a close enduro, especially races that take over a day to complete... I'll give it a go definitely but I'm not so sure I could handle a loss!

45 seconds, it first was 1 second behind but did a smart pitstop, overtook the number two who first was 1 second ahead of me, got 20 seconds ahead, number 2 made a pitstop and got 3rd, number 1 didn't stop but i had better tyres and overtook him

Here the report I made to a group of friends about a close-loss in the Tsukuba 4 hours Roadster Event.

I tried this race as well, with slightly different settings, and I won by passing the leader on the last lap (lap 201) and took the win by just 1.1 s...

Race Report

Well.... been a while since a post here but I got one that's definately on topic & exactly what this thread is for.

So, we cast our minds back to Saturday night which saw the latest monthly CRAP endurance race take place. This race had the works because it was a practice run for the 24hr online race which I'm entered in which starts in 28hrs hence :nervous:

The race was 13 laps of Nurb on full damage, weather & time & full penalties.

305hp 1100kg restrictions.

My car: Subaru Cusco Dunlop '08.

The race itself was excellent but we lost two drivers, two of our best, to glitches which wasn't good but it happens I guess, the dangers of online racing eh?

I had a solid three lap strategy on RS and it worked a treat until I decided to pit a lap early when the leader did, figured it would be the best move...

... And it was for a while BUT unbeknown to me on the final lap my tyres would be more worn than I thought and a certain parabulla (GTP name) was hunting me down in his yellow asparadrink of doom and his tyres were fine!

End result? A cliffhanging, nail biting final lap with me on sketchy rubber but maintaining my lead up to the final corner and on to the start/finish straight...

... where I got overtaken just before the line to lose to para by 00:168 after 13 amazing laps!!!!

I would have loved the win but I'd rather come second like that than win by a mile 👍

What a race!!!

Sounds excellent! I really need to get into online more, it's not that I don't want to, I just seem to always make excuses not to. And I don't even have much of a history of nightmares in pubbies, though I do want to try to join up with some groups sooner or later for a more refined experience.

Anyway, to add something on-topic, I just a few days ago ran the offline Indy 500 and won by .062 seconds, direct nailbiting race with 2nd the entire final stint. I'm actually considering writing up some sort of report about it as it was a solid race and I could use an excuse to watch the replay. That's now 5 enduros down and none won by more than 10 seconds(if you count from before the R8 dove into the pits at the finish of the Nürburgring 4-Hours).

Glad this thread was revived. I may never have seen it, otherwise.

I've had a couple close races:

Riding a stock (with suspension tweaks) Audi R10 TDI Race Car at Indy I was in the lead and looking good. My wife called me at the start of my last in lap and, by the end of it, I had forgotten that it was an in lap. I had been pulling my fuel at the limit and ran out around turn one...having to trickle around the track and in, finally. The time lost because of that stupid maneuver lost me the race by about 25 seconds. I would have won without that, though not by a lot.

During a run at the Laguna Seca endurance race I spent the last stint catching up to the leading Viper. My '69 'Vette 'vertible didn't look like it was making much headway, but, thanks to a crowd blocking the Viper and his tires going to hell I managed to close the distance over the last five laps or so. I made a risky move at the top of the corkscrew and out-braked the Viper, pulling into the lead. I held it through the end and managed to win by about eight tenths of a second. The full write-up is here along with a post about my first go at Laguna Seca.

Yesterday, 4h Nurb enduro.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage - Light weight - Rest stock.

Sport medium/soft - Racing hard/medium

I lost the race by one second, how?

A close race up to the point I had to switch to racing tires as I was losing time lap after lap. My pace with racing medium was slightly faster than the Honda S2000 GT1, 10 laps closing to the leader car, pitting at the same lap, just 2 laps stint.

Last pit stop, enough fuel for the last 2 laps so I can regain some seconds to the leader.

Final lap, just over 9 minutes to reach the 4h flag. I'm in front just by 2 seconds, I try to hold the Honda so I can crosss the finish line right after the 4h countdown, no more fuel no more tires left, I crossed the finish line something like 1-2 seconds before, the Honda pits, I knew I had to complete another lap, I thought well if the Honda crossed the finish lane after the 4h flag I win, if not Game Over.

Then face palm :ouch:, I ran out of fuel, the Honda at full pace whiped me out, he did it! he crossed the line just in time, I lost the race.

Disappointed to say the least, however it was a blast of a race and it was totally my mistake, I tried to save one lap instead of pit, honestly I was not sure if the Honda would pit or not, I should have already known by then after reading so many 4h race report in this forum.

By the way the stock exhaust note from the Aston made my day for those 4 intense hours.

Cheers.

For myself I have no clue, but my friend who's a member here (Welsh-Fury) has won 24h of Nurburgring by 6 seconds using Chaparral 2D.

I won the 1000KM of Suzuka by only 6 seconds.... That was super stressful for the final few laps.

Was driving a bone-stone Arta NSX with Racing Hards & no aids.

That's close for 24hrs!!

If the online race is that close it will make for an epic viewing spectacle!!

Speaking if which, if anyone wants to watch it go here: http://www.livestreamcom/nurburgring24hronlineracebywurksca

My team is called The Green Hell Heathens, get on it and get behind us & the other teams; we all will need plenty of support during those long lonely stints at the wheel :)

It starts in 37 hours :nervous:

Hey Heathen I was wondering if you would have a thread up and running with hourly updates for your 24hr event..If so,will you have it going in Race Reports or where? I'd really like to follow you guys and see how it goes for everyone!..Good Luck too!👍

Not quite an enduro, but still a super close race...
I set up some long race to do a final test on my Rainbow VW Bus (Yes, I got ahold of a Rainbow VW Bus. It's amazing) The bus itself was super slow, with a top speed of a rocket-like 105 miles per hour, but for some reason it cornered like an F1 car. The competition the game put me against was rediculous, and my bus couldn't even compete on the straights. But, strangely, it could destroy them on any turn.

What ensued was the greatest display of awkward driving history has ever known. The track was Tokyo, so on every straight (Of which there were many) I had to look exclusively behind me to block the oncomers, sometimes up to 5 at once. Plus, in order to keep from hitting a wall, I had to flip back to forward view for a quarter of a second to see where I was going, and then flip right back. Only because of the turns could I stay ahead, and only by a tiny bit in most cases. Finally, after more then 20 epic laps, I missed an opponent, and I got a proud second in the overall race.
Overall, I was happy, considering I was racing a Rainbow bus against far superior opponents...

Hey dude!

I was going to use a thread in our CRAP social group page but you've inspired me to do a normal thread instead, that way the greater GTP community can follow our progress as we commentate it!

Cheers for the idea mate, I'll do up a thread tonight 👍

I started to finish up the endurace races with the introduction of mid race saves and i recently finished the 4 hour tsukuba. When it came to that course after a few attempts of trying to race for 4 hours combined with saves. I started the race and when i got to the part of the track that was used for MotoGP, i parked the car there and came back 30 minutes later so I can have a more rewarding way of winning (and race for 3.5 hours) than to start out from the beginning and start to lap everyone within 10 laps and get boring after that.

By the time I came back, I was about 25 laps behind and my car was rated at 450PP and to make the story short. I ended up winning the race by having the same # of laps as the AI coming in at 2nd, and 3rd!!!
