how do i get gt5 to realise ive inverted pedals

Solved by holding in the mode button.
Doh.

I'm not entirely sure, but from what you describe, I think you need to physically switch the pedals so that the gas is engaged when you press the appropriate pedal.

green= inverted (gt/rally)

This sounds like a T500 question. I don't think other wheels have a mode button.
