How do I make my pit crew faster?

Titles says it all. I come into the pits literally side by side with another car. I have more fuel remaining on board than the AI car and I fill to exactly the same point (AI starts at 12 fills to 83, I start at 24 and fill to 83) and we both change tires. I come out of the pits 2.5 seconds behind. Given that I don’t control my pit speed and refueling should be quicker for me, how exactly does this happen other than the AI has an F1 pit crew changing it’s tires.

I think there are differences between cars in how quickly they can take on fuel. Tire changes should take the same time for any car.
I don’t believe this is the case. I don’t know for sure, but in the custom race settings, you can set the amount of fuel refilled per second. I would guess PD are adjusting the internal version of that based on the event. Or it’s the same setting, just made visible for custom races.

I remember the Gr. 3 Beetle refueling painfully slow in a race, slower than other Gr. 3 cars. Before I bet money on this I'd double-check first though.

It was faster but Kaz made it slower.

They had a closer pitbox to the entry than you so got back out going first. Your pit crew held you until they passed to avoid an unsafe release penalty.

It's the real pitlane simulator.

GT ain't even close to that realistic. Every car in the race uses the exact same pit box.

I used to wonder why the AI would almost always gain time in the pits. In my experience, it's either because they had less fuel to fill, or they didn't change tires.

The only thing I would question in the OP is that did you confirm, via replay, that the AI actually changed tires? If so, then I don't have an answer.
